I love it
Free trial not free
They offered a free trial to use Studycat and as soon as I accepted it, I was billed. Just a warning to everyone out there.

Love it! But there are no instructions on the games
Excellent Learning App
I only speak/read a bit of French with my daughter at home and this app has been a lovely compliment to our learning. Playing the games has consolidated her vocabulary and many of the games she can play independently despite only being 2.5yrs when we first got the app. I do assist her with some of the trickier elements e.g. spelling, writing and the jigsaw puzzles but all the others she can figure out and play on her own, so well designed! It’s the only iPad game I let her play for now and she absolutely loves it! We would love to read more Studycat stories or play more games that will help with forming full sentences. I have in mind some kind of interactive story with activities where you use the vocab you’ve learned to help Studycat on an adventure? A musical element would also be fantastic e.g. Studycat and friends singing "comptines" or other, potentially original, learning songs. So fun for young kids and great for learning! Thank you/Merci Studycat and team!

Good
Holy moley!
We absolutely love Studycat! My daughter started using it when she had just turned two, and now at 2½ years old she’s able to work through it surprisingly well. It’s been amazing to watch how much she’s learned in such a short time. One of my favorite parts is that it’s not just teaching her through games—it has helped her learn her alphabet and even begin writing her letters. The lessons are engaging, age-appropriate, and keep her excited to learn without feeling overwhelmed. If you’re looking for a fun, educational app for a young toddler, I highly recommend giving Studycat a try. It’s been a wonderful addition to our homeschool routine!

They changed it
It was great until we suddenly went on the app today and they made it so you can only play about 5 games out of about 50 games and the rest you have to pay for. Would have been nice for some notice.
No support, especially from Apple (UPDATED REVIEW)
UPDATE: Studycat was able to reimburse me, so they were extremely helpful and quick to respond. Apple still has to get its act together. I can’t give more than 3 stars, because we still do not know how effective it is as a supplemental aid in learning French. I can update again after we try it for a longer period of time. —————————————— Hate to do this, but after emailing StudyCat because I did not want to do a full year subscription, never got an email like Amazon or Spotify saying “your free trial is about to end”, and being told I had to request a refund through Apple, they make it impossible to talk to a real person. I went through the Apple link to make a request on day 7 (charged the morning of the 7th day, when I should’ve truly been charged the afternoon, since I signed up for study cat the afternoon of the first day) , and it doesn’t show up as eligible to request. No email, no phone number to contact someone. I was going to look into signing up for a month to see how/if my kids learned well with the supplemental app, but now I don’t even want to try it!
So fun
My mom and bro know French but I don’t know it but I learning very fast on here thanks to Studycat and his helpers

Typical trickery of signing up for a free trial but making you opt out or they charge you even if you’ve never used the app.
Pretty good

Kind of good
It is really easy for those who want to learn French but if you already know some French it’s not for you
Great at word level, I would appreciate more holistic approach
I like this app so far, great for learning French for a 5 year old I like that it’s not too overwhelming, very friendly design It’s French only- no translation- I find it a plus! I don’t know French at all, and everything is very understandable- but I always ask my 5 year old what is she doing and she always can explain to me Love games when game records your voice and then you do the tasks voiced by yourself - so cute ( and my 5 year old was embarrassed at first - the fact no one like their voice when it’s recorded - and she said the same- but it’s great for building confidence and enjoying the voice then, now she is so confident in using her voice and changing it to different shades) Still I have some concerns I don’t think it has enough content unfortunately. It’s our first month and she is one quarter through it ( it shows the line of progress)- she spends not more that an hour a day( broken to 15-20 minutes throughout a day), and I am enjoying it as a great alternative to other screen time. I am not sure she will have something left to do in 3 months time.. if I’m right the price is not reasonable at all- but we are not at that poin yet - so time will show. Another concern is everything is only at 1 WORD level. No phrases, no sentences - no task other than 1 word. Kids will know a bit of words from each topic but not be able to use them in speech. And another concern is stories - there are so few of them ( and that’s where my previous concern can be solved, it would be great that they are added to each vocabulary section to practice - listen and then have comprehension tasks, and maybe again repeat and record some phrases and sentences). The ones that you have a good - they are short, dialogues, very understandable. But there are so few of them, and it would be great to have more vocabulary stories and social-emotional stories. That’s some reasoning about 3 stars- but we only started - I think I will have something to share later.
Learning a new!

USED TO LOVE IT - now it won’t open on iPad or iPhone
This app was great but now we can’t even open it on my phone - always glitches. On our iPad it had so many issues we deleted it and now it won’t redownload. If this gets fixed - I’m open to updating my review. We purchased an annual membership - I’ll be requesting a refund.
Great App! Just one change.
I wish the french translated to English. Audio in french and English would help kids who only know English and are starting to learn french.
I don’t like it i love it

Got charged ..customer service never replied
I got the app to try it, my card was charged automatically for 60$ which is high for an app. I emailed customer service right away trying to cancel and they never got back to me. I wanted to stop the charge or switch for another plan. So far bad experience.
Good education
Good French learning
It was a solid five star until the new update removed un/une
Last year I did not hesitate to buy a one year membership because this app had the one thing that others didn't, the articles (une, un, la, le). For example, when clicking on 'Cat', it said, 'Un Chat'. When clicking on 'Mouse', it said 'Une Souris'. In this new update the articles are gone. Learning French is almost useless if you can't remember the gender of the noun. The best way to remember the gender of the word is to memorize une/un as part of the word, and not memorizing the gender separately from the word. Sadly, I am not going to renew my subscription for this one reason alone. I hope you fix this issue. I really want to use your app again. Thank you.
My daughter likes the app, but its prices is too high for a kids app.

Doesn’t work…
Have this app on Android and it works fine. Doesn’t ever successfully load on this iPad Mini 4 running iPadOS 15.8.2
Rated by my 7 yo
Fun
Caution, insanely expensive
This app gives you a free trial and then charges you for one years access. However it only has enough content to keep your child occupied for a month or two (at most). It’s good content, but there is no way I should have paid for a year. Update: In response to the developer reply. At no point have I suggested the content be given away for free, you do have to make a living. I do however take issue with being charged for a full years access when there is no more than a couple of months content available- at most.
Decent but needs tweaking
I purchased this for my 5yo. Compared to some other free apps, I am a touch disappointed. The games are enjoyable but for the price point I would like a slightly more finessed app. Suggestions would be to develop a pathway that allows checking off previously mastered categories (impossible to remember which ones have been done!) and instructions in English as well as French. Providing only spoken French instructions assumes one already understands French and it is somewhat frustrating when the child cannot understand what he is being asked to do.
Great resource. Alphabet should be optional
This was recommended to me as a great resource for a 4 year old to start learning French, and it really is. My son loves it, but all the alphabet and writing games are starting to make him lose interest. These games should be optional to younger kids. Also, even though the app is wonderful, a child won’t be fluent just by using it, so we should be able to see which words they have been learning so we can practice them and share with their instructors. Overall, this is probably the best resource out there to help kids learn French!
Ripp-off
Trial version was good, so I paid for a 1 year subscription $73.99. My 5 year old only had 6 months of use before she got locked out. The app request for another 1 year payment. Total rip-off.
Free trial won’t start
Want to use the week free trial to see if my kid will use the app more than 1 day. She’s already done the available content and trying to sign up for the free trial results in “purchase failed” when it stalls on “setting up trial” No in app customer support as far as I could find. So I’m rating here in hopes someone can fix the bug.
Limited app
My daughter was asking me for buy The app after The trial period so I subscribed to support learning French. She have done it really quickly and now she plays it again, it’s very limited on educational level, from my point of view it’s a pity there are no more levels if somebody will advance, and it’s quite costly. I expected a way more from an app that cost 60£ a year, definitely will not subscribe for the future and I already feel it were a wasted money.
To fast
this was ok
TO GOOD
My child wants to be on it 24/7 thank you so much
Tricky subscription terms
Tries to auto subscribe after free trial. Unclear instructions about cancelling.
Study cat is cool
Study cat is cool because it makes stuff move and the pirate thing has a cool parrot that repeats stuff you say!
Fine
At first my five year old sister loved it but later in the game it won’t let her unlock new challenges unless we pay money.
Review
I think this app is very cute and very useful for anyone learning French even if they’re not an adult this teaches you the stuff children would learn and it’s just really helpful and very cute to use.
Took my money but gave me no access
Purchased this app twice for my daughter to learn french but refuses to sync and reflect this in what’s available. Avoid this app like the plague (I’m somebody who has never given an adverse app review in my life)
So much fun!
My six year old grandchild loves this app! We’ve tried others and this is her favorite.

Worst game ever

There is a bug
It crashes on my kid’s favorite game, the one with where you drag furniture into a house. I noticed a bug before where baignoire and lavabo got confused. Since the update it just crashes the whole app when you start that game. Paying subscription. Can you please refund or fix ASAP? Thank you.
Fun games for first basic vocab but buggy
4 year old found some favs.games get trickier at end. This would be good with the structured course setting. However bugs make it frustratingly impossible to finish some levels, so we were forced to use the unstructured path.
