Focus challenge needs to be patched
It’s a good app, but one of my gripes is the focus challenges. Lately they do not update very well after I get through a focus session. It can be really annoying to have focused for an hour + and see that the focus challenges were never counting because of some technical glitch. Also it would be nice if we could plant more than 5 trees!

建议开发一个老版本UI切换按键
老版本的UI更符合美学，中间很多树木的美术忍忍就过了，不喜欢至少可以不用。但新版本整体完全改变了风格，和最初版本的树木美术格格不入，整体失去了一种极简的感受。

New interface and design is awful
I’m really disappointed with this update. I bought this app before everything became subscription based, and now after this update I had to log back in and basically create a new account. I don’t even know if my original purchase matters anymore or what I actually still have access to. The new interface is awful and whoever had the idea to change it should be fired. The old app was so much clearer, more fun, and actually made studying feel exciting. I even looked forward to studying because of the app and it didn’t feel like every other boring, repetitive dull study app. It was easy to navigate, aesthetically pleasing to the eye and everything just felt more organized. Now the entire interface is so bland, boring, and mundane. It honestly feels like they took away everything that made the app enjoyable in the first place. I understand apps need updates, but completely changing the design/ display AND moving everything toward a subscription model feels like such a downgrade, especially for people who already paid for the app before. I hope they would bring back the old interface, or at least give us the option to switch back to the old version. And I definitely think they need to be clearer about what happens to people who already purchased the app before the subscription change because that’s just theft
Upset with latest update
I have used this app for years. It is my favorite focus app. But the new update is glitchy. The main issue is having to close out the app entirely to redeem coins or click to any other part of the app. I don’t mind the changes to the appearance of the app features but this is a bit annoying to have to close out the app to get it to work every time. Edit: You can go to settings and return to the classic version, which I much prefer. Easily able to redeem without having to close the app and you can continue to get coins beyond the time that you set.

New ui layout is terrible
They made the ui so terrible. It was great and minimal. Where you can pick your tree and your timer all in one page but now it’s multiple pages that you have to next next next thru for one focus session. Fudge off Forest.
Decent app for focusing
So far I have enjoyed using the app, and it’s very good for when I need to focus on something, but I’ve run into a few problems that are not any of the so far non-existent bugs. The problem is that I want to use YouTube music to listen to my own focus music, but the app is restricted for when I’m supposed to be focusing, and I’m supposed to either get plus or grow enough trees to get more time gems so I can buy the music I would like in the shop in the app. Overall it is very good, but I would suggest getting a speaker like an Alexa or a Google Nest Mini to listen to your focus music instead of buying plus (it’s not that plus is bad or anything, I’m just the only person in my family who uses the app, so we are not going to invest in it) but it might be worthwhile to automatically have the ability to choose which apps you want to have on downtime and which you don’t. Lost all of my progress
Forest logged me out, and now I can’t get any of my progress back. I’ve had this app since 2018 now, and all of it’s gone.

Edit: Users have complained about the glitch where they have to close the app to claim their coins and still Forest is acting like it's on our end with no update patch, just telling us to 'update'. That's the problem. We did. Ontop of that, the UI is apalling. They seperated everything. // I have no incentive to use this app aside from the challenges and if the month tree is something I don't want, I don't use the app. The coin store is SIGNIFICANTLY lacking ant you can tell from plus they have a TON of gorgeous trees that SHOULD be in the store. I understand the need to have plus content. But PLEASE put some more trees in the coin store. Other than that, this app is amazing!!

Não gostei dessa atualização, principalmente em relação a pausa. Antes era mais simples, agora fica uma tela diferente e com sons. E por algum motivo, após a atualização, mal se houve o som de notificação.

And then also having ads in your app is fine I guess but being able to not exit out of the ad after the app told you if you watch this ad you get double the points but I had to literally close out the whole entire app because it didn’t give me any type of button to close out the ad after I was done watching it horrible horrible horrible I’m gonna spend my time this week and rebuilding this app using Cursor of course.
New look and streamlined-ness kind of terrible, otherwise love it
Been using this app for years and love it. Don’t seem to have the glitches every other review talks about. But they keep changing the look of the app, and where buttons are, and what direction you need to scroll to pick a tree or a focus title you have, and they do this like every 2-3 months it seems. It makes it feel extremely inconsistent, and when I’ve finally gotten the muscle memory down for the app to feel streamlined and easy to use and find everything in, they suddenly change all of it again, and it becomes frustrating. Pick a look that works and stick with it. Why change the look if it’s not broken? This most recent look/button/scrolling update is so bad it makes me not want to use the app. Everything got enlarged so huge, text runs off the edge of the menu. Buttons are huge, yet for any function I need to go through hoops of multiple buttons or menus, when before it was just one button or everything in one menu. I need to click stop, then collect reward, when before it just collected reward automatically no extra button press needed. Now I need to pick a focus and a tree in two separate menus, tap to enter tree select menu, tap to exit, tap to enter focus title menu, tap to exit. Before these things were in the same menu. What was two buttons to enter and then exit menu, is now 4, since it’s been split into two menus. The way to scroll through trees vertically instead of horizontally feels wrong…who thinks of trees as being stacked on top of each other? No one. It feels kind of unintuitive and unnatural. And now because text is huge, scrolling vertically to pick a focus title out of many that I have is just a hassle and very ugly looking. Maybe this works for people used to reading text vertically, and could be used in those regions, or an option to switch between one or the other for those who prefer that direction of reading, but scrolling vertically through theses feels unnatural to me as well. When reading my eyes want to move left to right, the way it was horizontally scrolling before. But now my brain has to stop and start and stop and start as it jumps up and down the vertical list. The extra buttons and menus, and the new scrolling format makes using the app take twice as much time as it did before, which is taking away from the time people want to be focusing on whatever they’re getting set up to focus on. It just feels like twice as much work to use the app now. And everything in the app seems extra large now, like I accidentally bought an extra large print book. I’m not sure who they were making this update for, but it feels like it is not for students or young adults anymore.
New Update ruined everything
I have had forest for about 7 years now and have reliably used it throughout high school and college. I LOVED it. So simple and easy to use, kept me motivated. I started grad school this week and when I logged in, I was booted from my account, and random data was lost. The entire past three years, special trees I bought for specific tasks, and random entries throughout are all gone. Not to mention, there are a million pop ups on start up, and the new design is pretty, but the beauty of this app was simplicity. I could actually focus on what I needed and keep track of my progress. Now that is gone, it’s become so tacky, and I am considering walking away permanently, which really stinks. They had a good thing going for some time. Too bad it’s ending this way. :/

Gorgeous
Terrible new UX
I’ve been a Forest user for many years now and have always enjoyed the cute trees and the incentive to put my phone down. The new UX that was just rolled out has so many pop-ups and distractions, and is flooding the app with monetization and pushes to pay a premium subscription for an app that I ALREADY PAID FOR. The value of Forest was in part the cost up front for an ad-free, push-free experience. The new UX makes this so much worse by making you go through multiple layers of pop-ups and questions to do a basic function. It has moved the obvious controls to unintuitive locations. Very disappointed to have an app that has been useful (and that I paid for!) ruined like this.

I used to love this app until they added Plus
I loved this app so much and I was drawn to it since it was a one time purchase, now they have removed some of the previous features and put them behind a paywall. Upsetting

Why did the Allow Lists get removed from the basic app?
I changed my allow list like an hour ago and I’ve had the app since before the forest plus update, but you removed it so I can’t even switch back to my basic allow list??? Is there anyway this can get fixed? I would really like to keep using the app, but this is sort of frustrating that a feature gets removed literally an hour after I use it.
Update renders this unusable
Don’t know what happened but ever since the latest update, the challenge takes forever to load. Also, I don’t like that the challenge starts at noon ET. I hope they’ll change so users can pick the time when they want to start the daily challenge.
It’s actually pretty good.
I really like this app cause it’s fun and helps me make sure I read the whole time I set. But the only problem is, that if you want to pause the timer, or add a plant to your favourites list, you need to pay for you to do so. But otherwise, I recommend it.
Losing important features
I’ve been using Forest for years but with the most recent update it seems to have lost the “favorites” option. This was so handy for setting up timers in advance with my plant preferences and specific times. Without this capability I have to do more manual work to set up a timer.
Update is meh
I normally don’t leave reviews but the latest update to ui took this app from a 5 to a 3. It’s ugly and needs more inputs than before to see total time spent etc.
Grateful for atomic habits
I’ve really been getting my life in order, while just using the free parts. My habit tracker has seen a lot more usage because of this app, and it feels like it’s made many habits. I’ve been building fun and pleasurable and easyer.
Bloated new interface
The 2026 redesign is clearly meant to promote the paid subscription model and not for ergonomics. The post-session is now multiple screens showing among other unhelpful analytics the option to watch ads to boost reward. The new interface is buggy, slow, bloated, and often unresponsive. Useful features (e.g. adjusting focus time) are hidden behind unnecessary menus. The pay-to-unlock trees are background noise, but you can't ignore the constant nagging to watch ads or pay. The old interface was good precisely because it's minimalistic. I hope paid users can have the option to revert to the old interface. For other frustrated users: you can still use the interface if you turn on plant together. Apparently this feature will be removed once the new interface officially launches. I hope the developers have the decency to leave it in.

Previously great app, but new update is AWFUL
I’m a daily user and the new update killed the entire flow I loved about Forest. It’s still a decent pomodoro timer but two of my main complaints: 1. there’s a straight up bug when you click on a “your tree just finished growing” notification. Half of the time, it just shows me my tree with the timer at 00:00, and a cancel button that does nothing. I have to quit the app fully and return for it to let me claim my focus time + rewards. This also loses any “count exceeded time” you’d accumulated. This is still unfixed like a week after the new update and it makes me want to just use a different app entirely. 2. You have to click through way too many prompts now. I miss the simple “your tree grew” notification. Now it’s “your tree finished” -> claim rewards -> return home, each with their own slow animation. This is a POMODORO TIMER, you’re not a video game loading an open world where you need loading screens and door opening animations for Christ’s sake, let me get on with my work. I hope you improve the app, I’ll be exploring alternatives in the meantime.

Best productivity timer app
I’ve tried plenty of other timer apps but this is by far the best. Make the trees bigger from 50 minutes please. I usually do 50 minute sessions but the trees get bigger at 60 minutes. Update: The cakes look very irritating, please remove the cakes.

Becoming worse with monetising
I have been using forest for years and loved the daily focus challenges. However hate the new ‘Plus Bonus’ item that’s added, right at the top of the list which you can’t tick off/claim unless you’re a monthly subscriber. Makes the whole thing so unsatisfying to use. Subscriptions are the bane of my existence and now it’s too irritating to use the app. I hope this feature is removed but I’m not very hopeful as there’s been a lot of new monetising features added recently.
Good app but too many glitches
I love the concept of the app and have been using it for years, but there are just too many glitches, including times when my plus subscription was disabled, or cannot sync, or cannot open daily challenges. It’s just frustrating. The in-app support function was also unable to load when I have these issues, so there’s literally no help I can get. Already reconsidering if I should renew my subscription.

Glitchy Interface and overcommercialization
I’ve used the forest app for over a decade, and even purchased the paid version, in which time I’ve gotten tens of friends to join and have used it religiously throughout college, grad school applications, and entering the workforce. I loved this app. I’m incredibly disappointed in the direction the app has gone, pushing a bigger and more expensive paid option and updating the UI in a way that is glitchy, lags, and no longer tracks time accurately. When I focus longer than the set time, despite having my settings to track extended time, it doesn’t record it. The app also crashes at least once a week or takes 30s-1 min just to switch pages. I’m also sick of having Plus pushed onto me - I have already paid for Forest previously and don’t want my app to continue trying to sell me stuff. This is also not even to mention that I can no longer plant trees in real life or make any kind of real world impact. I will stop using Forest if the glitches and over commercialization do not get fixed.

Its great! It has really helped my revision. I usually do 25 minutes with a 5 min break and it has helped so much!
Not worth it at all
First I paid for the app and it was fine. It took really long to get enough points to plant actual trees or buy stuff- AND if you wanted to buy different trees to plant with points you couldn’t plant actual trees because you wouldn’t have any coins left. The app was fine and did its job though. BUT THEN - it got rid of all my past studying times, made me log in with an email, and everything became ‘premium’ that I had to pay MORE ACTUAL MONEY for.
Great but can be frustrating
It’s a great little app but can be a little frustrating. Frustration 1 = There’s this thing called the Focus Challenge where they’ll name a particular type of tree or bush to plant, but none of them in your collection are named. So you need to Google the name to find the tree in question. Frustration 2 = When you do successfully plant a tree for the pre-requisite time, there’s an enormous lag between the game and the Focus Challenge part of the game.
