Great idea
App is a a great idea for people who can give an extra hand to help people need
No organisations in Melbourne, Vic, Australia?
Why are there no No organisations in Melbourne, Vic, Australia?
CarPlay
Would good if you could accept the call on CarPlay. Instead of going on to the phone when driving
Notifications with Apple Watch inadequate
I think this is more of an issue with Apple ratger than Goodsam, but it needs to be sorted. When wearing an Apple Watch notifications on the phone are ‘Disabled’ so the only alert you get is a timy little buzz on the wrist - the same as every other notification (news, weather, sms etc) Very difficult to pick up sometimes and can get lost if there’s a number of other notifications at same time. Need to have siren alert in phone and on watch at all times.
Does not work
App does not work. Will not allow me to login after providing all details. What is the point of an app to find life saving equipment in which you are required to have a lengthy login process that doesn’t actually work. Time waster and dangerous in a real life resuscitation event
This app saves lives.
This app is brilliant, I have responded to a few alerts and mostly it is just drunk or homeless people off their face. However, I have also been to incidents where the early actions or help app users have administered has saved people’s lives. Absolutely brilliant, cannot sing its praises enough.
Doesn’t work
Keep getting notifications and tap them immediately but nothing ever shows up in the actions tab. So confused. Thinking of deleting
Notifications
The app needs to alert you if you’ve been stood down whilst en route instead of the job just disappearing
Is anyone there?
Is this app still functioning and being used? I haven’t seen any activity for a long time, there’s been no more talk of it during the resus training at my hospital, and the sister app for the public seems to have disappeared, which is very disappointing as I always told family and friends to download it. I’m unsure now whether to advise they download the “responder” app so they can at least see defib locations and potentially “buzz” a nearby responder. It’s a real shame that a lot of the functionality seems to have disappeared from these brilliant applications!
Duty times
Needs an option to set on duty hours, as I don’t wish to respond overnight I’m going to have to remember to go off duty every bedtime
Available
What a shame that you never ever get any calls. I used to respond daily to GP surgery referrals and social care responses. But, never ever CPR or Cardiac Arrests. Trained and carry a Defibrillator & First Responder kit.
Vicky
This seems to be useful if you live in the UK ! Yet they advertise it in Australia where I live
Great idea!! Few tweaks required.
Adding a ‘did not attend’ button to the report form would be helpful. The current fields are required but aren’t relevant if you don’t attend the call. Pop up info from 000 call taker to allow responder to know what they’re going into. Eg potential needles in vicinity. Not sure if it was a setting on my phone, but today was the first call where the app loudly announced me to stand down. Great to see this feature.
Doesn’t work
I’ve had this for a year and a bit and haven’t had a single alert. Actually forgot I even had it
Not getting alerts?
I have tried many times to test the simulation alarm but having tried everything suggested I’m about to give up. We live in a rural place. This would be an invaluable service if I could get it to work! What’s the best way to contact you?
Revolutionary!
That being said, it would be great to get information on what I’m showing up too, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, symptoms, etc. if there is anyone there and what dangers await? I was sent to a person having anaphylaxis and they had been waiting an hour for an ambulance. Since it didn’t say what I was responding too, I did not have an EpiPen on me. Let alone almost 50% of people don’t carry an epipen or it is expired from many years prior. There should be more information and support for Responders. That being said Identification as well. Like an ID card as I’ve helped Police numerous times and to them you just look like a regular person.
Volunteers?
I am registered and able to undertake stewarding positions. I keep receiving emails saying there are vacancies and to sign up. When I look at Activities I’m told there are no vacancies on my area.
Would like alerts on Apple Watch
I’ve had this for a while, it can be a little clunky and the cardio version doesn’t always give enough information although that’s maybe down to the dispatching service. My main niggle is that I’d like to get alerts on my Apple Watch as I would see them faster that way. Please consider this when planning updates
Glitchy app
It won’t let me change my occupation from anything other than a paramedic. It also won’t let me change the expiration date of my certificate. The app is quite glitchy but overall love the concept of the app.
More accurate locations
I have been bleeped twice in the last few months and it doesn’t give me a accurate location of the emergency and by the time I’ve accepted and tried to work out where I’m stood down. It would be so handy if the app could send you an address of the emergency to make it a lot quicker for us to respond. Especially if you are in a place you aren’t familiar with. I just feel I’ve let someone down if I can’t find the accurate location. Addresses should be sent via the emergency crews bleep.
Phenomenal service
I am so pleased that this app, together with training from SWAST, means that my fellow CFRs and I can offer 24/7 coverage in our rural area for the most serious incidents.
Months of waiting, no verification
Been waiting for months to have my ID verified. And have heard nothing so i’ve removed the app and slapping a 1 star. I’m a firefighter with the CFA and should not have to wait this long for Verification. Yet here we are. More than 6 months and no updates.
App has flaws. Idea is GOLD
Got my first alert yesterday and clicked accept to be able to respond to it. The app provided me with the patient details and address. I typed a message to say I was on my way. I responded and attended the patient. I am looking at the app now and it says I have not accepted any alerts. It says in my messages that it sent the alert to another responder as I didn’t respond. … as I am unsure what is supposed to happen after I accept an alert and attended an event, I just hope I have done everything right from a verification and documentation point of view.
Won’t let me sign up
I’m ILS trained and happy to use my skills to help Someone outside of work but sight won’t let me complete sign up… every time I try to put occupation it defaults back to paramedic, and deletes any other information I’ve put in.
Not available in wales
Seems to just be available in England. Wanted to help out
Great App for Volunteering
Easy to use and navigate. User friendly
Best app on the App Store
This app wins hands down as by far the best app on the App Store. Nothing can compete with this marriage of skill and technology to deliver life saving magic. As a developer, this delights me and demonstrates how technology should be used. As someone who has struggled with cancer, and significant health challenges, it is an enormous comfort to know this app exists. Thank you to all involved, true super heroes!
A useful App!
Take the time to find your way around first, before going ‘on duty’.
Registration is taking awhile
Please speed up the verification process, it is taking way too long comparing to some local apps in Australia
Brilliant concept undermines by 3rd parties
The app is fantastic and it's great to see how it has evolved and increased functionality over the years. However its usefulness depends on organisations using it, specifically ambulance services for the cardiac arrest response element, and NHS trusts for the NHS Volunteer elements. My local ambulance service doesn't use it, so it's useless to about 7 million people in this respect. I've only ever received one NHS Volunteer request in three years. This isn't the app's fault but there's no point having a product with such great potential, and continuing to develop it, when the organisations it depends on to work aren't using it.
Hey
You guys just saved me just wanna say thank you
Why have a location if you ignore it?
I put in that I would be happy to help anyone wishing a 30km distance and have only had response requests from 200 miles away! What’s the point!
Responders
The Twice I been contacted, I’ve been not in a position to help.
Verification
I’ve heard it’s a really good app, I have my CPR Certificate but it takes ages to get verified like over a week and I still haven’t.
Local Requirements
The app is ok, however the creators need to work more closely with the relevant authorities within the jurisdiction so that irrelevant options are not available to users. For example in the App update there is now an option for Naloxone and Epipen. Both of these are not allowed to be used by GoodSam responders in Victoria, Australia. Therefore why have it on our app?
Great site to help those in need
M
Great idea, poor quality app
The idea is excellent. The app is just terrible. It crashes often, the design is outdated and hard to navigate, and adding a public AED location never works. Please fix the app so we can get on and save lives!
Excellent
Got responded, did cpr using a local defib, guy walked out of hospital a day or so later.
Registration delay
Looks like it could be great, but I registered weeks ago and I’m still awaiting confirmation
Fantastic concept! (But not so good in practice)
I love the concept, particularly when taking into account the significant wait times people are faced with when calling for an ambulance in QLD (and in other states, I would assume). I first found out about this while completing a Red Cross first aid & CPR course. The trainer recommended we all install the app, if it’s something we were interested in. I am more than eager to be able to lend a hand when needed. Unfortunately, however, I was prompted to allow the app access to “ALL” of my photos, and that’s something that I am absolutely not comfortable with. I’d assumed it wasn’t the be and end all. However, after pressing ‘no’, it informed me that it couldn’t access the certificate I uploaded. There’s no reason why the app would need access to all of my photos, as I can’t recall any other app that I’ve downloaded in recent times asking the same. I was already a bit uncomfortably granting access to my location data at all times, as opposed to only when I’m using the app, but I realise the greater good outweighs my paranoia. My photos, on the other hand, that I’m just not comfortable with. I’m more than happy to grant permission for individual images (such as the one of the certificate), if it’s required, but not like this. If the app didn’t require this, I would happily give it a 5 star rating. I intend on emailing about this problem to see if there’s any way to rectify it, but I won’t change the rating/review until it is resolved. Thank you! I hope that this can be fixed, so I am able to join. Irrespective of that, I hope that your app is immensely successfully, and that it helps save lives 🙏
App update needed
There needs to be an update regarding the style of the app it just looks plain and when responding the icons could be like a mini first aid badge.
Can't register
The app may be fantastic I have no idea as it won't allow me to get past the registration page I keep putting in my details and when I go to put in the date of my license expiry it reverts to the previous question and changes my professional to a paramedic and won't let me proceed without my paramedic registration which I don't have because I'm not a paramedic! I would love to help but I can't get past the registration.
Battery use
App has been using a bit of battery running 24/7 in the background. Would it not be possible for the app to be activated by push notifications when an event is triggered? Over 5% of my daily battery usage is from this app running in the background. iOS 14.5 iPhone 12 Pro Max
UI Overhall
The app is great, but it’s look and usability is frustrating. The apps UI needs an overhaul.
Love the idea but the app has some bugs
I can’t select anything other than “paramedic” or change the date on my license expiration date! I’ll be keen to sign up when I can put the correct occupation and qualifications
GoodSAM
Having been an EEAST Community First Responder for 10 years I’ve taken a less onerous but more specific role here on GoodSAM giving assistance when asked by EEAST EOC to attend cardiac arrest situations. My only niggle of the GoodSAM App is that there appears to be 15 other people associated with GoodSAM on the map of my immediate locality, none of whom are actual First Responders so will not come to assist me when asked / buzzed by me. I’m told they were registered with GoodSAM during COVID to deliver prescriptions, go shopping and otherwise assist anyone in need; so as they appears 24/7 how can I ask whether they are still active? And why do they appear on my local First Responder webpage? Otherwise a brilliant way to keep volunteering and helping save lives in my community. Thank you everyone, with regards from Clive
Can’t register
Latest iOS and can’t get past registration, even after the update.
Good Sam works fine
The app takes a few minutes to understand, but then is fine. A minor concern is that it uses battery while running in the background. However, if you are called and can save a life just from your training, it’s worth it. Recommended for all first aid certified people.
Needs ‘unavailable’ option
I think the premise of this app is excellent. As someone who is ILS trained I am happy to be able to use my skills outside of my job to help people until an ambulance comes. My main issue is that there is no option to temporarily disable the app so you cannot be alerted for a certain timeframe. For example while I am at work I cannot leave to attend an emergency, and when I am sleeping the night before going to work I cannot be interrupted in the early hours of the morning. If the developers added these options I would rate it 5 stars and I think they would get more people joining and staying on the app as I know this has put off some of my colleagues from signing up. Please consider these changes to your otherwise great app.
