Description
Wean by Larder is a calm, private companion for the whole of your baby’s early years, from the first taste of solid food through to sleep, sickness, and everything in between. We built it because we needed it ourselves, and because a young family living through weaning, teething, and every early illness in between knows exactly how scattered this stage can feel across a dozen different notes apps, spreadsheets, and half remembered conversations with the health visitor.
At its heart, Wean is a proper first foods tracker. Log every food your baby tries, how they reacted to it, and how much they actually ate, then follow a guided allergen introduction schedule covering all fourteen major UK allergens, with gentle reminders to keep offering once something’s been introduced safely. A library of over a hundred recipes, organised by texture stage from smooth purees through to chopped family meals, takes the guesswork out of what to cook next, and a batch cooking planner with a freezer inventory keeps track of what’s stashed away and when it needs using up.
Growth and development have their own dedicated space too. Chart weight, height, and head circumference against WHO percentile bands, log developmental milestones as they happen, and keep a private journal of the small moments worth remembering. A visual tooth chart, using the UK’s own Palmer notation rather than the American system most other apps default to, lets you track which teeth have come through and see a gentle prediction of what’s likely next, alongside common teething signs and comfort tips.
Health tracking goes further than most weaning apps bother to go. Keep the UK routine immunisation schedule in view with due date flags, and prepare for health visitor reviews with a checklist you can add your own questions to ahead of each appointment. When illness strikes, Sickness Mode lets you log symptoms like vomiting or fever in a single tap and track proper medication courses, antibiotics and similar, with day by day progress and a clear next dose due time, not just a single entry with no context. A simple medicine log covers the one off doses too, things like infant paracetamol or teething gel, with a gentle warning if a dose is being given sooner than usual. A sleep log and a tracker for the move from bottle to open cup round out the picture of a day that’s about far more than just mealtimes.
Safety content sits right alongside everything else rather than being an afterthought. A searchable guide answers the question every parent asks sooner or later, whether a particular food is safe to offer and from what age, and a clear, calm explanation of the difference between normal gagging and genuine choking sits close at hand for anyone starting out with baby led weaning. When it’s time for an appointment, generate a properly formatted summary covering foods tried, allergens, immunisations, teeth, and more, ready to hand over or print in a single tap.
Every piece of this stays on your device. There is no account to create, no cloud sync, no advertising, and no data collection of any kind, your family’s information belongs to you and nowhere else. Track more than one child side by side, tailor which reminders you receive, and use the app entirely on your own terms.
Wean by Larder is built and maintained by a small family, not a large company, and it keeps growing based on what real parents in our community actually ask for. If there’s something missing that would make your own weaning journey easier, we would love to hear from you.
