Description
EMF Detector turns your phone into a real-time magnetic field detector. Point it at wiring, a running appliance or a magnet and watch the reading move — a pocket EMF meter that shows what is actually around you, in microtesla (µT) or milligauss (mG).
A MAGNETIC FIELD METER YOU CAN READ AT A GLANCE
The main screen is a full instrument panel: a large live number, an analog gauge, the X, Y and Z axes, and a rolling 60-second graph so you see the trend and not just the moment. Peak hold keeps the highest value you passed through, and live Min / Avg / Max show what the room has been doing. Switch between µT and mG whenever you like — the same units a gauss meter or gaussmeter shows — and your choice is remembered.
Readings fall into three bands so a number means something. Below 60 µT is Typical, 60–100 µT is Elevated, and 100 µT or more shows as a Strong Field — a sign that something magnetic or powered is close. Turn on the alert and the app sounds and vibrates when the reading crosses your threshold, so you can sweep a wall without staring at the screen.
FIND THE SOURCE
Move slowly past outlets, cables, speakers, laptops, a running microwave, the breaker panel or a fridge door. Used as an EMF scanner the value climbs as you close in, and peak hold marks the strongest spot you found. The built-in Common Readings table lists typical ranges for more than ten everyday sources and highlights the row your reading falls into — so you can tell the Earth's field from something live inside a wall.
GHOST DETECTOR MODE
For ghost hunting nights, switch to Ghost Detector: a dark, reactive K-II style display — the K2 meter look ghost hunters know — where the same total magnetic field drives a five-level segment readout and an apparition that grows stronger as the field rises. It is free, it uses no separate sensor and no hidden logic — and it is clearly labelled as entertainment.
RECORD AND REVIEW
Record a session while you walk a room. The app logs a one-second timeline with duration, Min, Avg, Max and Peak, and keeps it in History so you can reopen it, see the chart, rename or delete it. Export a session as CSV — timestamp, x, y, z, magnitude, unit — to keep or share.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHONE CAN MEASURE
Your phone has a magnetometer, the same sensor the compass uses. EMF Detector reads the total magnetic flux density near that sensor and nothing else. It cannot measure radio frequency — no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no 5G, no ionizing radiation — because a phone has no RF sensor. The bands help you locate sources; they are not a health or safety verdict, and this is not a substitute for a calibrated professional EMF meter. Ghost Detector is entertainment and cannot identify anything paranormal.
For the steadiest reading, move your phone in a figure-8 to calibrate, take off magnetic cases and mounts, and move slowly.
Exporting sessions as CSV requires a subscription (weekly or monthly, each with a 3-day free trial). Everything else here — the meter, the bands, the fixed alert, Ghost Detector, the reference table and your three latest sessions — is free.
