What people like
- Motivates you to walk more every day
- Fun concept with cool city maps
- Great for competing with friends
What they complain about
- Drains battery very fast in background
- GPS tracking is inconsistent and misses tiles
- App crashes or freezes frequently
App has potential
This app has been great, bugs here and there but makes walking/driving fun again. Pros: you walk more and compete against friends, you can now see their trails and it hasn’t lagged too much on the user end. Overall great concept just wish it wouldn’t consume so much battery life in the background!
Latest Update glitchy
I can’t click on anything since the latest update. No menus or buttons are pressable
Stomped Review
Great app so far, works perfectly for me however my friends can’t see my progress other than my first tile as it doesn’t seem to update
You’d think I sit at home all day…
I have my location on always and I barely have any squares unlocked. You’d think I was a hermit.
Taps out after awhile
I really love this app but ever since I took a road trip and hit 60,000 tiles the app is no longer functional. It freezes whenever I try to look at my map or the leaderboard. Any tips?
Fun way to explore your own neighborhood
I’m embarrassed at how obsessed I am with this app
Tracks while in a car/subway
Getting too many tiles without actually walking them. WalkNYC is better, tracks by block and doesn’t track when you’re on the train.
Battery Vampire
Super fun concept but uses so much battery in the background! Didn’t wanna dock it too much bc I know that’s lowkey unavoidable given the nature of the app
Conceptually great
This seems like a really cool idea but the always tracking feature makes my phone lag out so bad that I had to delete the app. Has good potential
Peek-a-boo Functionality
All permissions doublechecked, but this thing is simply unreliable. At best, a 1-star app, but I added a star for no-ads-free, and another for a brilliant concept with promise …
Very cool app
I like the idea of the app. But I think they could improve on it. It would be cool if there was an overall leaderboard with total number of tiles stomped per person. The GPS is inconsistent sometimes, but that is a hardware issue, so not on them. Tiles in this game serve only as a point system for a leaderboard. There should be more badges too. Overall, good app.
great concept!
love this app! i just really wish it didn’t crash so much, and loaded a little better when zooming in or out. other than that, no complaints
doesn’t work yet
it’s really cool, but it needs to work. it’s very picky when it wants to record your steps. quite frustrating to finish a long run to finding out only pieces tracked. i’ve given it all the perms i can, so i don’t think it’s on my end atp
Finally an app that gets you outside
Love STOMPED! It’s lots of fun🕺🕺My friends and I compete all the time
love the concept! looking forward to updates
this is a really fun concept, i’m glad i found it so soon after launch. however, it’s been tracking all movement including car/train travel even though the app says it only tracks foot travel. would be nice to have automatic speed detection instead of having to turn my location on and off anytime i get in a vehicle. overall excited to see where it goes!
Great App
I’m really loving this app, it motivates me to get out of the house and walk around my neighborhood!
Love the UI
The app is good. But if I turn on always allow location, the location mark is always showing on my Island on top. Also it drains battery very fast.
Love the idea
I really like this app and love looking at the map. The problem is that it takes up like 30% of my battery each day and doesn’t even get all the tiles I “stomped” unless I have the app open and even then it sometimes doesn’t get them all
Love it!!:)
Fun little app! Gets me moving around a bit more
Great concept
Love the idea and the look of the app. I do think the location tracking needs some help. I have it set to always track but unless I have the app and my phone open, it only unlocks about every 3rd tile for me.
There’s Potential
I really like this app, or at least the premise of the app. It’s actually pretty simple to navigate, but my biggest grievance is sometimes the track in background works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It is especially frustrating when I spent a significant amount of time wandering around only to realize nothing tracked. Alternatively, there’s achievements to be unlocked, but we have no way of knowing what they are… you simply get an achievement if you get one, but if not… you have no idea what you’re trying to work towards. It would be nice to be able to expand the leaderboard function beyond our most stomped city — say the other cities and neighbourhoods that we’ve been to. As some cities or neighbourhoods, I’d argue I’d be one of the top stompers but since they’re not comparable in size to my most stomped city (New York), I’d never know. Overall, the app has a lot of potential. But I’d definitely would like to see the bug fixed for the background tracking because God forbid I have to hold my phone with the app open the entire time to track. It kind of defeats the entire point of going out into the wild and stomping if you have to constantly monitor an app.
Really good game
I’ve always wanted to have a game like this
Needs some improvement
1) The hexes are just a bit too small, sometimes impossible to get a city block because location is never perfectly accurate 2) it’s annoyed that it takes up the full bar at the top with the blue arrow - other apps that use your location don’t do this. Sometimes it even does this after I quit the app
stomped is peak
best app ever, such a cool concept
concept is cool
it doesn’t unlock all of the tiles i pass over. there’s big sections of my map that are just missing a ton of tiles even though in those area my service and connection is great. is always freezing up on me.
lowkey my new hobby
the way this app has motivated me to get out and explore my city every day is crazy. i feel like i unlocked a part of my brain i didn’t know about, but now i can’t stop until ive gotten every tile 😭 luckily i love trespassing
awesome concept for travelers
I travel a LOT by vehicle for work and this app seemed like a super cool way to see that visually! Noticed it drains a lot of battery for a background app, like way more than leaving your bluetooth on would, and it struggles to location track long distances or higher speeds (like at or above ~35mph?) but these are all problems that time and updates can solve :)
Love it
I have been wanting something like this for a long time. Glad a friend introduced it to me! Only thing is sometimes the tracking is a little off and I miss a bunch of tiles. Wish I had had this on my whole life!
wish i could see my friends’ maps
this is a really fun idea for an app and it encourages me to walk different paths than i usually do! i just wish i could see my long distance friends’ maps as well, so that we could see how much we have walked of our new cities. the percentages arent too fun to compare :(
