Eldrum: Black Dust - Text RPG reviews
4.9 out of 5, based on 246 reviews.
What people like
- Great for blind players, fully accessible
- Choices actually change the story ending
- Deep lore with satisfying replayability
What they complain about
- Combat can be frustratingly repetitive and tough
- Random ambushes feel annoying and relentless
- Leveling up takes way too long
3rd game fan
The compilation of the best from previous games. I personally liked the atmosphere and the story of The Red Tide more, but this game brings way more action.
wirklich gut gemachtes barrierefreies TextRPG
Lots to enjoy, but…
The black cloak ambushes are relentless, annoying and don’t go away after you visit the bank. There doesn’t seem to be Perception or Agility as a way to avoid them. I was having fun but the ambushes eventually felt so ham-handed I put the game down. Only major flaw in my opinion, but it is one.
I enjoyed it, wish the combat wasn’t so slow
Played it through, and the ending a couple times. It didn’t feel as satisfying of an ending with their prior installments. You just.. don’t know about what happens to some of the side characters, and not quite as interesting or invested in them. However the music and themes were very enjoyable and the new concepts introduced I felt like make a more rewarding end game.
It’s been an honor
The Eldrum series has been so fun to follow throughout the years. The improvements and general advancement of each game has been awesome to see. Black Dust was exceptional, and now that I see there is a DLC since I’ve last played it’s time to load it back up.
So far it seems to me that the difficulty is scaled a bit higher Then red tide
I know it’s still a early release, but it seems like the reward point system is a bit steeper And the fighting is a lot more difficult With stronger opponents Wish there would be a difficulty settings at least easy and hard
Broken Bits
This game continues the immersive tradition of its forebears but is broken at key spots. Time and time again, the player has to retighten battles over and over again hoping he can get lucky enough to prevail because all other options are closed to him. Deeply frustrated by the amount of time wasted on this tedium. The final battle is the worst of them all.
Great game DLC makes it even better
For fans of this series, this third installment plus it’s DLC R must plays. This is a proper sequel in some ways to red tide. If you’ve played the previous installment, you’ll find the same interesting continuation of the world’s story seeing some familiar faces, depending on what storylines you chose to play through previously and seeing sort of what the overall canonical story for the world is. The combat in this third game is slightly more nuanced or complex than red tide, but very similar the abilities part of the game are a great addition and the traits section of your character sheet gives you more opportunity in what type of fighter you want your character to be allowing you to choose more effectively what type of combat you are. It has all the same big and little choices that you see reflected in the ending of the game as the previous two installments did. The DLC is great. It adds more lore and a whole new location for you to explore plus some more story plus new gear and you might see again faces from other places you may know. I personally loved this game. Had a great time with it. Used to play a lot of RPG‘s, but then lost my eyesight recently in the last like three years so have had a lot of that taken away from me unfortunately but games like this have given me a taste of that again in a great way.
Why
I love the Eldrum series but for Black Dust exp gain is beyond slow and “Walled” that ability is beyond broken
banger after banger
i started with red tide, played untold in the interim, enjoyed black dust a ton when it came out, and now with the new dlc have started revisiting the games. i cannot overstate how much i like all of these, there’s clearly a lot of love and passion that goes into their development.
Best in the series yet!
The first two games were interesting but never roped me in enough to purchase. This one went on sale and I sure am glad I picked it up! I liked it so much I bought the dlc too, and overall the game is fantastic!
Best game
My favorite game please make more of pay top dollar for them
Phenomenal game as always
Eldrum games never cease to amaze. Absolutely amazing story lines with replay ability. The attention to detail with item descriptions is immaculate. And so far it seems that Black Dust is going to be the best one yet.
Great game completely accessible
I’ve been playing all of the games for a while now still find myself drawn back to them even though I’ve eaten all of them multiple times great game completely accessible. Very minimal bugs.
they did it again!
i was not sure how they were going to be able to make a worthy sequel to untold and red tide, but here it is! combat is more robust and sophisticated than ever, there’s now trackers for faction reputation, there’s new and exciting lore in the world of tem khiris, and as always, meaningful choices that make this an engrossing role playing game. this game works as a standalone, with tie-ins to the previous two for dedicated fans, and is well worth the few dollars for hours of entertainment. i cannot wait to see what they come out with next!
Great story and perfectly accessible
As usual this company hhits it out of the park. Nothing gets lost in the translation as a blind player. And enough replayability to make it worth your while in purchasing so if you’ve enjoyed the previous chapters in this storyline then you’ll love this one too
