Well…
I’m putting this as 5 stars so you guys can see it but I feel like it definitely expected me to already know way more Korean then I do. I just got this app and it was already expecting me to be able to call people in another language I don’t understand yet. This app is definitely challenging but I really needed to fully understand the basics before I get to something more skilled and complex like that.
Not good for beginners
You can use it for practising but Not to learn it When you can read and speak korean It’s Perfect When Not dont try it!
needs some technical work
Conceptually this app is perfect, but in many areas the AI models used are not sophisticated enough. The AI conversations are nonsense or worse; one asked to borrow my phone, and when I asked why, it threatened to borrow my wallet. Pronunciation feedback doesn’t exist. Despite that it is still pretty good, compared to your average language app
Too expensive
I only went on it for one day and I had to pay for the rest. I’m broke ok? (Joke) It’s a bit advanced but the learning in general was ok
Always having to pay
It is like this with other apps too, but at least with Duolingo you don’t have to pay for a monthly trial. They just give you the option, but with Seyo you have to pay for trial before you can do any other lessons I can’t even get to the next lesson because they want me to pay and I hate this if they can at least make you not have to pay. I will download this app again, but overall this app is pretty good. I just don’t like how you have to pay because there’s no way I’m paying that much money just to speak Korean when I can go and get Korean lessons myself…
BEST AI Korean app I know
So I’ve been using the Seyo app for a few months now and originally I was using jump speak and was trying to do some other things and I ended up getting a refund for that and investing into this. So I trust their reputation and figured I’d give it a try. And honestly have to say that it has to be one of the best AI apps for Korean specifically since obviously that’s all it’s for, but the best AI speaking app that there is. Jump speak was cool but it just was too AI if you know what I mean in that it would be more generic its responses, but with this app, the amount of memory it holds, remembering your past conversations sounding like a real person and having different emotions to be able to speak and practice with is honestly so amazing. I would highly highly highly recommend TTMIK Seyo app for the AI call feature alone just because when you don’t have a lot of other people to speak Korean to like me since now I’m back in America after being in Korea, it’s very valuable to be able to have something reliable enough to speak to. Again it’s not perfect perfect, AI just can’t be that perfect but ultimately if you have good enough pronunciation, it will be able to pick up what you can say. I think that is the only downside to AI apps is that if your pronunciation isn’t good it doesn’t hear you correctly and ends up throwing something in there that you didn’t quite say and so in that way, it can be a little frustrating but to be honest with you it’s something I’m willing to work past. Simply highly recommend especially if you don’t have anybody else to speak. Korean with 10 minutes a day goes a long ways!!!
I thought it was really nice at first
I thought is was really nice at first but then it started to take forever to read my words… and it kept giving me a 0 when I was abt to start speaking.. and also.. I’m NOT paying to keep going.. I’m 14 there’s no way.. so get that fixed pls.. I need to learn.
First time Use
I’m still very new to the Korean language so getting to use something that could build up my confidence in speaking and enforcing knowledge is a very big must. I see a lot of potential with the app, especially with the pronunciation registry that helps build tone and clarity with words. On the other hand, I can also see where it can use a little more detail. For example the way the app tries to catch my voice isn’t often very good. It seems to pause too long, almost glitching, and sometimes even disappearing all together with the little green face. Also it’d probably be good to make the little green face more apparent to when it is recording the voice as it’s rather hard to tell when it is and isn’t. This is just the coding so it can be fixed. The other thing I’d like to see is a little more connection with other things. The simplicity of the app is very nice but I don’t see a lot of correlation with what we’re being taught with the Seyo conversation starters/role play given to us. And what is being taught isn’t really being enforced past the initial lesson. Still, it’s a new app so there is plenty of room for development!
Trouble picking up speech
I really want to love this app. The interface is smooth, the lessons are helpful. But the biggest problem for me is that it only picks up half of what I say. I wait until it’s listening, then speak, and it will catch only the last word of my sentence, no matter how slow or fast I talk, or how close or far from the mic I am. I’ve tried from different devices multiple times, and it just doesn’t perform well enough to be useable. I wish it were different, because this app concept and the leveling of the lessons would be a wonderful addition to my learning.

Great learning app but after your first lesson you would have to pay to go on with Seyo! Recommended unless you wanna pay.
Best app for learning Korean
As a Korean language teacher, author, and native Korean speaker, I've tried many Korean-learning resources over the years. Seyo genuinely stands out. I especially appreciate that it brings together grammar practice, pronunciation training, and open-ended conversation in a single app. The characters’ voices are remarkably natural. They don't sound robotic or like typical TTS voices. The conversations feel surprisingly close to talking with a real Korean speaker, which makes the practice much more immersive. Another feature I really like is the ability to hide or reveal the English translations of the example sentences. It's a thoughtful design choice that encourages learners to think in Korean first and check their understanding only when needed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended!
dumb trial
this app is amazing, i love it, but after your done with your first lesson, you have to buy a free trial to keep going, and it wont let you until you buy that trial. i’m not doing that. i just wanna learn for free. waste of my time.
Good app for very motivated learners
I like how the team of TTMIK doing their job, it is not the first product that I buy from them. They put a lot of efforts in their products and it is very good quality. But what I noticed with their products: the products are for very very motivated learners. I get bored very quickly with their products that don’t happen with me during using other Korean language resources (I study Korean for 3 years). Which is a pitty as I really love the quality of the materials they are doing. I wish that one day the team will focus more in engagement of users through their products.
Call option
The voice recognition keeps mishearing me. The microphone works, but the app doesn’t pick up or recognise what I say even if I speak in my native language. It is very frustrating
So close to amazing
I love the ttmik resources, and I want to love this app and service so much, but it’s not quite there. The pronunciation help is amazing, but like other reviewers have said, it sometimes has issues with recognizing that i have spoken at all. My real complaint is the order of the lessons. I know it’s technically a separate service from the others in the ttmik family, but I wish the lessons were in the same order as they occur in the book and video lesson series. Seyo is an amazing resource, but with the very brief explanations of grammar concepts and minimal vocabulary, it feels like a supplement rather than a whole learning plan on its own. And when I have to rote memorize large chunks of vocabulary to make it through a speaking lesson I won’t be doing the textbook written and listening work for until weeks later it’s frustrating. For a premium app with a subscription, I won’t be renewing until it is more cohesive with the rest of the company’s resources. PLEASE CONSIDER FIXING THIS. I would be a subscriber for life if this were the case.
So much better than Duolingo
Not to disrespect Duolingo, but this is so much better for conversation, and just being able to hear how people speak in 반말, which is difficult to teach imho. The best is obviously speak with a human but this is great for people like me that only have time late at night to learn

Great app to help you but glitches a little
I’ve been using this app for a week and overall it’s a lot of fun to help you practice speaking! I love the broken down lessons and it’s easy to follow along. I know this app is very new still so they still have some things to work on. My only small complaint is sometimes it won’t recognize my voice and clicking the green button doesn’t let me restart. I have to exit the app to reset it. But overall i wish there were more apps like this that make you speak!
It’s great when it works
I enjoy the app because I really like the TTMIK group. But this app sometimes just doesn’t hear what I’m saying and it makes it frustrating compared to other language apps that I’ve used without issue
Love it but
I love it but it keeps lagging like when I repeat something it will lag or freeze and I have to go in and out of the app and then telling me I didn’t say something correctly (when I know I did) 이건 is not hard to say. I talk to my Korean friend on hello talk who also confirm I said it correctly. The speech recognition needs to be updated or something. I changed my tone to make it lighter, I moved the phone away from being too close to my mouth and it still isn’t recognizing
Great But Voice Recognition Could Improve
This is by far the best app to help in my studying so far, thus why I’m giving five stars. As someone who is terrified to speak with a native speaker until I have more confidence this has been a great outlet to build my confidence. My ONLY complaint is that Seyo will clearly hear me because the AI transcribes my words and yet will give me a low grade. I can usually expect this because Seyo always takes longer to register that I’ve finished speaking in these instances. It’s fine because you still have the option to listen and compare your pronounciation to the example which reaffirms that my pronounciation was close, Seyo just could not catch it.

Better than Duolingo Korean
As a Korean-American I wanted my kids to practice their Korean. My kids don’t have to write but they need to speak with the grandparents so this is the perfect middle where they get some explanations of the grammar but it’s more heavy on speaking/pronunciation. Compared to Duolingo this is much much better. Duolingo tried to romanize Korean words which was a horrible idea. The advanced levels in Seyo aren’t really kid friendly but aren’t entirely inappropriate (conversations of how to split the bill at a bar). (If the creators could consider the wide range of users and have a kid-friendly setting? Or a kids version? That’d be great!) (not taking any stars off for this) One star off: The chat/AI is a bit slow picking up sounds or loading at times (50% of the time??) - but if you’re patient the chat conversation seems like a great way to practice “chatting with a Korean”. I thought it was worth it and purchased a subscription- will update down the road once I use it more (if the slow loading is too much I may take off another star) 4 stars bc this is as close to real life application as I can get from something automated and cheap.
Constant glitches make the playback feature impossible
The main thing I wanted to use this app for was the feature where you can hear back your own voice. However, this feature is CONSTANTLY not working. The button stays blacked out as if it’s already been selected. The main feature they promote this app for and it doesn’t even work??
Helpful, but needs work.
I know my pronunciation isn’t perfect, but my native Korean language partner can understand me fine. Unfortunately even with basic phrases seyo cannot understand me or misses half of the sentence I say - but only on the role play portions which is weird. The rest seems to work fine. It gets extremely frustrating.
Love it!
This is exactly what I need for enhancing my Korean speaking skills. I love that it corrects and rates my pronunciation. I know so many words and grammar but my speaking and pronunciation skills are terrible. This app is just perfect for me so I can go back to South Korea and speak to locals with confidence. I’m so glad they have so many units and levels. Thanks!
Too expensive
Can barely do anything on this app without paying, seems like a good app but wouldn’t know because you have to pay 17.99 a month.
Not too bad but not great
This app is okay, but a little bit annoying. First, the app cannot recognize voice very well, and there a lag after you finish speaking. There should be a button to indicate that you finished speaking. Second, there is no way to speed up the learning process if you already know the foundational materials. They can just make a review or test where if you choose or speak the correct responses, you complete that chapter.
Needs work but has potential
This app has a lot of bugs. When I speak into it, sometimes it takes forever to respond or register. If they fixed this, it would have been an amazing app.
Put a button to stop recording!!!
For goodness sakes! Will you guys please put a button in this app that notifies the application that you’ve stopped speaking in the voice recognition parts? Sometimes you have to wait upwards of 15 seconds or more for the application to figure out that you stopped talking, only for it to give you a poor grade because the microphone didn’t catch everything you had said. SOOO archaic and frustrating!!!
A solid comprehensive course
This app is a solid platform to improve any level of Korean; the structured conversations help reinforce grammar and pronunciation without making one feel self conscious; Korean isn’t easy but Seyo makes it fun!!
Great idea, currently not working
I love TTMIK products and would love to use this, but the voice recognition just tells me I’m saying it wrong but no feedback on how to fix it. Or do it better. I wanted to use this to fine tune my pronunciation as I’m currently on Level 5, but it’s just not working and I know my pronunciation isn’t all that bad to begin with.
Nice app, could be more entertaining
It’s a great app to practice speaking with but I really feel that the addition of a few gamification features like xp, achievements, and sound effects would go a long ways in making it more enjoyable to use. I’m just realistically not going to use it as much if it isn’t fun.
Inconsistent voice recognition
The scoring on this app is very frustrating, because I am repeating exactly what I hear, and I can score 100 one time and 27 the next. Also, I got an answer match score of 0 on a lesson when the system recorded what I said to be an exact match. The app has a big problem recognizing 이건 for some reason, because I almost never get a decent score on it. I have been studying Korean for over a year, so my pronunciation may not be exactly precise, but I know how to pronounce things. Also, how is this app supposed to help improve on pronunciation if I get a low score and have absolutely no feedback on what I need to improve on? I love all the other TTMIK courses, so I was very hopeful for this app, but it is not living up to TTMIK’s reputation.
Practice mode needed
I like and use this app, it’s great for the price, but I would like a feature that lets me review and practice or tells me to write songs practice sentence. Right now if I want to review I have to click in and out of each lesson and it’s kind of a pain <3
Everyday Practice
This app has been amazing! It has me speaking Korean every day. I love the way the lessons are structured. You hear the dialogue multiple times from native speakers. The explanation of the phrases you are learning is invaluable. During practice, you can replay your speaking attempts to hear where you are going wrong.
Crashes every day
I have tried getting support in the app but never got a reply. Now you can’t choose a category so it’s impossible to ask for support. Complete waste of time

A good idea, but buggy
I’m having a lot of technical problems with this app, so I’m not sure how useful it is. Update: It simply doesn’t work on my devices, and I’m done with it. It’s not a question of mispronunciation, but the app doesn’t even hear me or register that I spoke a word. So for this type of exercise, I’ll find another way for speaking practice.
Voice recognition needs work
I have been studying with TTMIK for years and LOVE their content! I was hoping this app would fill in the missing piece (speaking) for learning Korean that I was looking for, however the app is frustrating because sometimes after speaking it will pause for a long time like it didn’t hear what I said. I hope they continue to work out the bugs since I love the idea of the app and I think it has a lot of potential.

only 1 unit is free in trail
Today I activated the 7 days free trail, but could only learn 1 small unit. is that on purpose that one can only learn 1 unit even though the free trail is in for 1 week? sorry but getting to know the app and deciding to buy the subscription based on 1 unit makes me feel uncomfortable.
Good speaking practice, very glitchy
This app has great potential and is getting me to practice speaking aloud and paying closer attention to my pronunciation. It is a good companion to learning Korean using other methods, such as TTMIK lessons. However it could use improvements at analyzing your voice recordings. Even if it looks like my response was perfect (transcription of response matches correct response) it may give me a low score for answer matches correct response. It also gets glitchy and will force me to skip sentence practice in order to move on. It seems to have trouble when responding with numbers. However, I don’t mind the accuracy of the scoring so much as long as I am learning and practicing. I do look forward to a smoother experience as I continue to use it over the next year!
Good concept but need more feedback details
I like the concept and how I get instant feedback on my speaking skill. However, the feedback needs to be more details. For example, I was getting perfect score on 이거 but always fail on pronouncing 이건. I listened to my own audio and I honestly don't know why it shows as incorrect pronunciation (red color), especially when 이거 is 100% right. I didn't think adding the ㄴ ending vowel would be that hard. The issue is that I don't even know which part I pronounced wrongly and how to fix it. Was my ㄴ not strong enough? is it the ㄱ instead? What if it's the 이. So eventually, I just try to pronounce different parts differently and still no success. It would be great if the app could give more information on what's the problem is or what makes the AI detect the word as wrong or right. It's already pretty frustrating on such a short word, I would imagine it's gonna be so much worse on longer ones. I really like the app and hope to use it more, but for me personally this issue needs to be addressed first.
It is buggy
It will be doing great and then stops picking up my voice. When it finally does, it will not play back the recording for me to hear. It is super frustrating because this has so much potential. TTMIK is a great program.

Es geht nichts ohne Abo
Immer wieder das selbe mir TTMIK… wie viel Geld sollen wir noch für die ganzen Abos ausgeben? Man kann nur eine einzige Lektion ohne Abo machen. Macht es doch wenigstens wie Duolingo, dass man mit einem Abo mehr Extras hat aber ohne trotzdem lernen kann. Wenn man das normale TTMIK Abo hätte, das für eure Stories App und dann noch diese hier, wäre man fast bei 400 Euro im Jahr. Das normale Abo ist doch teuer genug, packt doch wenigstens eure Apps da noch mit rein. Außerdem ist die Spracherkennung bisher noch nicht ausgereift, leider werde ich ständig missverstanden. Ich kann da eher TEUIDA empfehlen, das funktioniert wesentlich besser und ist kostenlos nutzbar. Mit optionalen Abo….
Great addition to TTMIK curriculum
This app is a great addition to the TTMIK curriculum. It helps you to start speaking and get more familiar with how the vocabulary you have learned can be used in various conversations. I would love to see this app to expand to encourage users to practice making their own sentences which is definitely where I struggle and have not found any app that fills that gap. Still a great app overall especially if you love TTMIK.
I can’t get it to register what I’m saying
Works better on my phone than on my iPad. But I can maybe get it to register a correct answer 1 in 10 times. I can speak the same words to the translate app a that works. I’m also taking in person Korean lessons, so I roughly know how to pronounce them. I wanted to refund this app and use their other app which I think is better, but they won’t let me refund it. I wish they were just included together.
It was good until started to have many problems in the speech recognition
I started seyo and it was amazing how I was improving my speech, I was almost at Chapter 10, the others were not made yet. After they completed the rest of the chapters, the speech recognition rate went to 88 to 0. I even redid the first lessons to see if it was my fault and then it continued to happen. Now I have no idea if I am really improving. I contacted them 2 times , no answer. I paid for the whole year already. It was such a wonderful idea and it helped me a lot at the beginning…
