Ich finds gut und es läuft….
Bisher liefen alle einseitigen D64 Spiele. Mehrseitige Spiele sind wohl nicht möglich. Mich stört nicht die etwas umständliche Importvariante. Die Bedienung der Tastatur und Joystick sind gut gelungen und auch der Switch zwischen Port 1 und 2 ist einfach gestaltet. Mir gefällt der Emulator. Danke schön. Für alle Ungeduldigen: kein Speedload…also Ladezeiten wie beim Original C64! So war das damals.
This app stole money from me thru Instant Games.
Somehow this app has ads that link thru to my PayPal account and then thru to my bank account. AVOID USING AT ALL. I can see the banner ad that I accidentally may have touched. It is a THIEF.
Läuft stabil, auf iPad auch groß genug
Ich habe damit ein Text-Adventure gespielt und es hat sehr gut funktioniert auf einem iPad. Auf einem Smartphone ist der Bildschirm hingegen zu klein.
Nicht mein Favorit
Leider nur ein paar Sekunden getestet und dann deinstalliert. Gründe: Merkwürdige ultraschmale Tastatur und Position oben. App geht nur im Querformat. Winziger C64-Screen zwischen Tastatur und Werbebanner. Linker Rand der Optionen wird durch die iPhone-Notch abgeschnitten. Werbebanner verkleinert das Bild unnötig. Klar, es ist kostenlos, aber letztlich zahlt man mit seinen Daten und im aktuellen Zustand wäre mir die App auch keine direkte Geldausgabe wert. Dann nehme ich lieber gleich Retroarch oder einen dedizierten Retro-Handheld.
Impressive but buggy
It was a delight to see the two-tone blue screen again. However, when entering line of BASIC by hand, half the time it doesn’t pick up that the line should be added to the program. Therefore unusable. Still, was great to see the demonstration.
Keeping C64 alive!
Thanks for this app! It works as it should and I like the approach for adding disk images using base64 text. I’d love to see a portrait mode as well but this is a great start!
Buggy, slow, full of ads… simply disappointing
The keyboard appears only at the top of the screen and can't be moved to the bottom of closed. When running the fractal program from the included demo disk, it runs so slowly. It's amazing that this emulator for a 40 year old computer doesn't have an option to run the processor at the speed of a modern one. Finally, there emulator died in the middle of the fractal demo due to some audio error. The demo didn't even use audio. Aside from that demo, the emulator overall is awkward and clumsy. Using an actual Commodore 64 from the 1980s would be a much better experience.
Joystick
I couldn’t get the app to use a physical joystick already connected to the iPhone. How do you configure the app to use the physical joystick instead of the virtual on-screen joystick?
Half baked
Crashes when sound is enabled. Keyboard input is erratic. SAVE doesn’t work. Virtually no documentation.
Good attempt
It is a good attempt but without external joystick (PS4 gamepad) or being able to redefine keyboard (magic keyboard) for joystick emulation, it just doesn't work well.
Works but its design choices take some getting used to
The virtual keyboard doesn’t reflect every shift key change Example: when colon : and semi colon ; get changed into square brackets [] they are shown changed but it doesn’t represent when asterisk * and at @ are changed into a minus/dash - and backwards L (⅃)
Installation is full of data mining stuff!
Frankly, I’ve never seen an app with this much add and data mining and tracking permissions, many that you can’t even disable, during the installation process! Holy heck! It feels like you go through 40+questions about permissions or more!! Hopefully someone will come along and give us a better, less intrusive port of the Vice emulator than this. I’d be fine paying for a good app version of the Vice Emulator. Going this extensive add, and tracking rout is NOT the way to go. I’ve dreamed of having a C64 emulator on my iPhone so I can have fun writing and running programs. Sadly, this is not the app for me.
Good emulator just one recommendation
This is a great c64 emulator, however I just have one recommendation could you add support for .prg files and also fix the sound buffer overflow error
Play on tape
How to manage the « play on tape » with an ipad/iphone ? Without that, cannot play with games, they all request that action ! Obviously tape were existing on an other time… 30 years before 😬 2 stars that could reach much more with the solution to my question ! Currently only the 8 demo are working.

Tastatur oben im Bildschirm
Warum ist die Tastatur oben im Bildschirm? Das ist sowas von unkomfortabel, die Tastatur gehört noch unten. So ist das arbeiten sehr unangenehm.
D64 is here, but …
How complex it is … the encoder thingie is weird, while you could simply open a file from the device ?

this app has so few features that is seems like it was published to display ads.
Great but no sound
Great but when sound is enabled I receive a buffer overflow. Needs some fixes. But great an emulator is back on ios.
Umständlich
Endlich ein C64 Emulator auf IOS und dann ist er nur bedingt brauchbar. Warum kann man nicht einfach d64 Dateien aufrufen und muss die vorher noch umständlich decoden? Eine Option für ein paar Euro und dafür ohne nervige Werbung wäre auch vorteilhaft.
Great to see a C64 emulator, but seems a bit buggy
Did a quick standard test writing 2 lines of basic:- 10 PRINT “HELLO” 20 GOTO 10 however after typing LIST only line 20 shows. Line 10 vanished. When I tried loading something it said Vice Error, Sound : Sound Buffer Overflow [OK]. And no way to advance beyond that. (Fixed that by turning sound off) It needs a bit of work. Would prefer to buy and have the advertising removed. Also please put keyboard at the bottom. Keep up the work 🙂
Was a decent app -- Now ads...
This was a pretty nice app and I was looking forward to using it. But in the last update, they started putting large ads in the bottom of the screen with no way to get rid of them. No thanks.

Der Emulator läuft, man kann jetzt auch .D64 Images laden. Wenngleich das dazu notwendige Vorgehen recht umständlich ist. Läuft noch nicht wirklich gut, Sound läuft noch nicht so richtig. Aber ein Anfang! Weiter so! Für eine schnelle, komfortable, laufsichere Version würde ich auch gerne Geld zahlen.
Still lots of problems
Th edev added semi-support for D64's - I say "semi" because it's ridiculously clunky and unlike any other 64 emulator. You have to go to an external website, upload your D64 file, copy a chunk of encoded text, paste it back in the app, and then it'll load the D64. I tested it with Ultima V, which I wanted to play - and it... worked... ish. Changing disks is an exercise in futulity. Ultima V finally did load but it look several minutes to load, and then several minutes to get past the first welcome screen, and then the actual intro screen was so slow I gave up as the game would have been completely unplayable. And I don't get why - there's other C64 emulators foir the iPad before that work perfectly fine, and don't have these crazy limitations - just not in the app store. Oh well. I'm glad the dev is trying, I suppose.
Needs work
Excepting I turn the sound on the app gives an error and freezes. Also the loading of .d64s is a nightmare. Have been using gecko64 which seems quite good apart from lack of keyboard. Definitely lots more potential for this. Hopefully things will improve in the future.
Not there yet
I downloaded because description says it loads D64 files, but then when you try to it says coming soon. Be honest in your app description… Update - it was updated, but I have to paste in the contents of the disk image? Come on, can you make it any more difficult to use? What’s with the 100+ trackers and big ad banner taking up screen space? How about letting us pay a little (once it all works) to not waste screen space with ads?
A good start…..
Looks to work well with some initial testing but you cannot turn sound on in the settings. As soon as you do this, you get an error. With no sound, not keen on using. Get the sound issue fixed, and will give a real test and review. Included Video tutorials are a great idea and helpful.

Be WARNED, it has around 80 trackers for your privacy (or lack of)
When you first install this ask it asks you to content to a ridiculous number of privacy violations with cookies (about 30 or so), and if you’re not careful at the end of the list if you click on “vendors” you get to see about 50 or so more, and many of them have been pre-selected to track you. I can’t begin to imagine how this App got past Apple’s quality/privacy/abuse control. DO NOT INSTALL or you will be followed all over the Internet with hundreds of cookies.
A great start
The emulation seems to work well. Unfortunately when I activate sound on my iPad 5th generation I get a VICE error. The ability to attach a .D64 file is critical. Functionality is limited to the included demo disk and anything that can be manually typed in.
No feature actually work yet
D64 files can’t be loaded. Turning on sound throws a Vice emulation error. And the demo fails to load and just has a spinning icon show forever.

Demo disk doesn’t load even though the release notes says this should now work. iPhone 14 Pro. Will try it on macOS next.
