It’s great
It’s great, the only issue is it crashes when you’re in the lava worlds and the season turns winter. Luckily the game saves it self frequent enough for it to not lose much progress.

Need a newer iPhone to run the game smoothly. This game also does not have controller support which is extremely disappointing.

LOVE this game, runs amazing on mobile port and without controller it actually is extremely nice to play. I actually thought it was a mobile released game because it was so smooth lol, but giving the game controller support would let people use backbone controller setups etc and just make enjoying the game even better

An amazing game! lots of monsters to synthesize and no lag! no matter how big the size they get, the fps never drops. I just hope that they don't make an SP version like they did with Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland and Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi. But nonetheless! Seeing that Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has happened, there's probably a possibility of the Caravan Hearts (gameboy advance) getting an reimagined too! With our Prince Keifer leading a Caravan of humans and monsters alike!

Great game but it keeps crushing for some reason please fix it
There’s a game breaking bug!!!!
I’m about 4 hours into the game at the time of me writing this review and I’ve been having fun with this game. I like the Pokémon style mechanics and the story is pretty interesting so far however there is a game breaking bug. I am playing on the iPhone 14 and I’ve checked Reddit so I know it’s not just me having this issue but players cannot change the monsters from their party and reserves or from there box that holds all the monsters. The drag and drop feature isn’t working and when you go to press and hold on a monster when in the paddox it just gives you the option to remove the monster from your party there is no way to add to your party which is very annoying. So far I’ve been playing the game with the same 4 monsters I captured in my first like 20minutes of gameplay which isn’t a problem now but I want a new team and to try new monsters. Please Square Enix can you fix this issue it’s been 2 weeks since the last patch and we really want to enjoy this game but can’t. Other than that issue the game so far has been amazing. But after paying like $20 for it and missing a major feature like this I feel like I’m being ripped off or just got scammed.

This is a great game but I requested my money back. The game has crashes too often. It’s always when there is a new encounter. I also have had to wait over a minute for a game encounter to load as well. More than once. It’s when there’s an encounter. The game also streams aweful If it works on your phone great! Was wondering if you guys are playing around with the thought of adding controller support? Maybe as an experimental option ? Thanks in advance this port is great! So glad it’s even possible to do this :D Extra note: Also can you add 60 fps for medium settings? It runs really smooth on high settings but I can’t really customize it to do the same on lower resolutions If not it’s all good still love the game. Thank you for this masterpiece
Great game but constant crashing
Inexcusable amounts of crashing, also a lack of controller support. Game itself is very good and I would recommend it once this is fixed.
Controller compatibility
Played this game on the switch and I am ready to relive it on mobile, I just wish it was controller compatible. I know it just came out on mobile, but it would make sense for the game that came out on a console that’s controller compatible would offer the same controller compatibility on mobile. Hopefully, that’s coming soon.
Good game but unplayable at this time
I enjoyed this game on the switch but so far this has been almost unplayable on the iPhone. Constant freezing after battles cause me to kill the app and start the fights all over just to get stuck after another fight a few minutes later. Until they fix these issues I would not recommend downloading the app.

Best Monster Wrangler on iOS!
EDIT: Please stop the treasure trunks from opening the privacy policy in a browser every time I go to open the chest. It’s happening every time. Is there someway to get it to recognize that I’ve opened it and read it already? This is one of my favorite JRPGs and monster tamers from the past year on the Switch. And as soon as I started playing it, I thought it would be perfect for mobile! Battle and scout monsters from many different areas, synthesize monsters into new ones, includes DLC (except Japan McDonalds exclusive monsters that I know of), and you can fast travel and save anywhere. Perfect for Dragon Quest fans, monster tamer fans, JRPG fans, and those who like a good grind. Lots to try with this one!
Bug within 5 minutes of game start
The game seems to revert to autobattle for no reason at all? Meaning im unable to actually scout monsters. Like literally its such an obvious bug to find if you have any kind of quality control team at all
Great Port
Already played this in the Switch but this has really good performance and includes all the DLC. This could really use co troller support though to make it even better.

Excellent game
Extremely fun game, it is the only game I’m playing right now, was in the middle of black myth wukong when I happened to stumble across this in the AppStore. Being a fan of dragon quest already since the first one on nes, and of course the first monsters on game boy, I knew to give this a shot. What I didn’t know what how good it would be, already got 35 hours into it, console quality graphics and gameplay on an iPhone game, extremely fun, especially if you are already a fan of the series or jrpgs in general. Best monster catching game on iOS and one of the best jrpgs on iOS, has actual DQ 11 graphics, which makes me hope they port DQ 11 to iOS. Thank you for this one SquareEnix
Unplayable
I have the game on Steam but when I saw it’s on iOS I jumped on it but now I regret it. I got to the point when the old man was asking about if I know what a monster wrangler is but as soon as I answered the dialogue box froze and now the game is unplayable. Such a huge disappointment.
Crashes a lot iPad 8th gen but playable
Great game but keeps crashing some times it’s after 5 minutes or 10-30 minutes other than that it’s great I am playing on iPad 8th gen that could be why it crashes but not sure as everything else works perfectly no lag or anything else just the crashing. Hopefully there’s a fix soon as I love playing this game it’s just frustrating reloading the game constantly to play as I cannot afford to buy any console to play the game so playing on my iPad is the only option for me.
Lots of crashes
As a fan of the DQM series since it’s release on game boy colour back in the day who played nearly all of the versions I couldn’t hold back from trying this out. The game itself is good and runs smoothly and has the graphics and gameplay that you would expect from the series. I appreciate Square Enix for finally bringing a properly translated game to the market, they have taught me not to take it for granted :D That being said there are two problems that really diminish the enjoyment from the game: 1. Frequent crashes due to automatic cloud saves. Every 5-30 minutes the game crashes, usually during the start or end of battle or during trait selection. It doesn’t seem to be a hardware issue, iPad doesn’t heat up. From comments found on the net there is a similar issue on the steam version where people can fix it by disabling cloud saves. I wasn’t able to find such an option on an iPad 2. Possibly related to this, the online content in the game asks you to accept Square Enix online policy every single time. It’s frustrating to do this every hour standing at the mimic to get the goodies. Together those technical issues make for a frustrating experience in an otherwise great game.

They never learn!
How does a premium game get released without controller support. If I am paying this price, I want the full game, which includes controller support. How’s this even still a thing. We are not in the beginning phases of controller compatibility any longer and if Apple wants to be taken seriously as a mobile platform, they need to stop allowing significant publishers with console games ports to do this. Unreal! Absolute waste of money. Perhaps it should be included in the description that it does NOT support controllers.

This is legit my first ever AppStore game review. The controls are extremely well optimized and I had zero issues. I hope more Dragon quest games come to mobile, because they did their thing with this one. 10/10 recommended

Great game! Port has some flaws
This game is amazing, truly a remarkable Dragon Quest game. However, there are issues with this iOS port. Frame rate stutters in certain areas and battles, I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max so it might be better on newer iPhones. Also, the text font is too small sometimes. There’s no way to adjust the font, so it makes it difficult to read context. Some people might not like the lack of controller support. I’m used to touch controls, so it didn’t bother me. This option missing from the game does limit the accessibility. These three points were my main concerns for anyone purchasing this game. If that’s not enough to push you away from this game, then you’ll find yourself enjoying a great game with plenty of strategic depth. Anyone who likes Dragon Quest or JRPG’s will enjoy it. 9/10!
FIX THIS GAME
I love this game beat it multiple times on the switch but the constant crashes are starting to piss me off i cant go 2 battle without a force close and I’m using the newest iPad model so hardware isn’t the issue here square fix this already and I may up my score but I wouldn’t recommend me this to anyone In this state
