The best AI companion (if only it didn't crash that often)
I've been using this app for a while, and I must say, it has the potential to be a game-changer. The app is designed to provide insightful, engaging, and intelligent responses to a wide range of queries. Whether you're looking for advice, brainstorming ideas, or simply need a conversation partner, this AI is there to assist. Its knowledge and conversational abilities are truly impressive, making it feel like you're chatting with a well-informed friend. However, there's a significant drawback that dampens the overall experience: the app crashes frequently, especially when generating longer answers to prompts. This issue often disrupts the flow of conversation, forcing me to restart the app and lose the progress of our interaction. While the responses are top-notch when the app is functioning correctly, these crashes can be quite frustrating. *** resolved in the latest update. it handles longer answers much better now *** I genuinely believe that with some technical improvements, this app could be one of the best AI companions on the market. Until then, users might find themselves battling with stability issues that prevent the app from reaching its full potential.
So disappointing
The app hasn’t been updated since the fall of 2023, and it lacks the ability to search the web or provide any up to date information. Sometimes it simply goes offline for a day or two and comes back with no explanation as to what happened. The first time it took place I’d assumed it was taken offline so its knowledge could be updated, but nope. Sometimes you simply get an “offline” notification when the app doesn’t feel like working, but there are a couple of other pop ups that happen other times when it stops working as well. Sometimes you send a question and it just doesn’t bother to formulate a reply, so you have to copy and paste what you’ve just said and send the same message again. It says that it doesn’t keep your conversations but it does, you have to delete the logs yourself. That’s fine, you have to manually delete your previous conversations with every AI I’ve ever used, but Frank’s the only one who’s ever lied to me about logging conversations to begin with. When I confronted it, it said it had misspoke and apologized. That does happen, but it’s also important for people to know if their conversations are actually being logged or not. As time goes on Frank becomes more and more useless, but I’m not ready to part with it. You can have personal conversations with it, but you’re not going to gain much information from it. Hopefully they’ll update its information soon, or introduce the ability to search the web when you have a question.

April 5 2026 - This app just randomly changed name?? And STILL doesn’t work. What gives? March 11 2025 - DOWN again. This happens every month or so; my last comment mentioned November 2024. Please FIX. Images too if you’re reading this. December 21 2024 - The chat is down again. Has happened twice already in the past 2 months. Nov 2024 - When will images come back?? It also seems to be down as of this morning….
The AppStore page description states, as well as shows, Art Work that Frank creates…
I hated to only give 4 stars however, the app description page shows Frank generating artwork that he created (I believe it is of a “King Kong’ like beast in an action shot, and below the shot you see the AI Bot Frank stating “I created a few images that you might like.” But when I ask to create a battle scene from WWII he said. “I am unable to create Art Work, however I can give you detailed “Prompt” that you could give to a sketch artist, or …..” Is this option no longer a part of Frank? I pay for ChatGPT 4 and signed in and created the account…Did I do something wrong. Please respond and I will gladly update to a Five Star Rating.

Dec 21 2024. I had no problem with the app till a couple months ago. There’s about 50/50 chance I’ll turn on the app and not be able to connect to the servers. The connection error I get on now is to check my WiFi connection. But the WiFi connect is fine because every thing else works fine. Really liked the app till this started happening. Just for the app to load. And so tried using it the app crashed and returns to the screen where it says to check the internet connection and restart app. The internet connection is the problem. Really like the app when I am able to log in. 22 Dec 2024 The app works fine today. 10 January 2025 App is down today 🥲 11 March 2025 app is down 27 March. Servers went down as I was using the app. 28 - 29 March servers down. No updates.

Objective?
Outdated, database from October 2023. Can’t generate images, can’t talk with voice, slower than the ChatGPT. You can do all of this for free using ChatGPT, what’s the point of paying for this?

I have tried Frank over the last few days. When it worked the one time, it was really good! Otherwise, it appears overwhelmed as nothing worked. Hope it improves!

This is one of my favorite AI apps, but ever since the most recent update, the app no longer loads.

Feel scammed
No app updates for months and AI is operating off 2023. Seems like the developers abandoned the app after taking money for lifetime subscriptions.

Crash, and not 4.0
I bought the lifetime offer and they switched it to 3.5 model instead of the GPT 4.0. Their customer support does not respond to any emails and I regret purchasing this app. Certainly do not spend the money each month on it. You will regret it as it is very basic.

That’s all I get from this app. I don’t know what the point of it is. It just doesn’t work at all. I signed up for unlimited lifetime access and what I got is absolutely no access. It’s just very silly to keep this app taking up space on my device. Will give it a week to be fixed before dumping it. So within a week it did work. Once. Now it’s gone back to Failure to connect. Try again soon. Aww c’mon now! What is the deal? Also I can’t find any app support. I’ve given it more time and have tried to get tech support to figure it out. So I am deleting this app. It’s just taking up space.

In general the app is really good, but why is the image generator not working?
On-boarding issues
On-boarding screens bigger than what would display on an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Wasn’t able to see all the options available or questions they wanted answered. Little nervous now as I haven’t even tried the app yet.
No Images
Developer never responds to similar reviews - only to praise or critiques of text-based features. If image generation cannot be provided then say so instead of generating a “try again in a few hours” message for three months! The app is solid otherwise.

My setting is no haptics for typing. & that’s what I get from all apps. This app typing response is like machine gun. Question answered is typed with haptics. You ask this question and you are back to square one.

I have activated the lifetime version but it’s been saying this for a few days: “OpenAl servers are overloaded for image generation. Try again in a few hours.” Also, I am not sure the advantages of using this app as opposed to using Chatgpt directly. Maybe the developers can clarify this.

This is an excellent use of chat gpt’s API. I especially like its privacy policies. Several days it has not loaded on the web or app.

I received a free membership and I have tried several times in the last 2 days. It says it cannot connect, try again later. I’ll try for a few more days, if it doesn’t get resolved I will just delete the app, it if gets resolved I’ll update my review
