What people like
- Feels like a private space just for friends
- Great way to keep and relive memories
- No ads or creepy strangers seeing your posts
- Easy to organize photos by week or album
What they complain about
- Many features are now behind a paywall
- Forces you to invite four friends first
- App crashes or lags when uploading photos
- Hard to figure out how the app works
My opinion
I think that retro is a good way to look back on things
Blatant social slop
Its an app that 1 requires you to enter 4 other numbers before actually using, and is just another app to be used to boost someones false sense of popularity and gain meaningless interaction. Its a toxic app.

Issues
It keeps lagging
really good
wish i could give more keys but other than that awesome app if you have a bunch or couple of friends and wanna keep updating each other
The disrespect
Friend shaming me for not enough friends
pretty good
pretty good but a real menu for ipad would be great instead of the phone menu in the center of your screen

The Social Media We Started With
Loving retro and hope it doesn’t change! Love that I can share photos with only the people I want, no ads, no feed of things trying to get me to buy…just seeing my friends and their lives!!
Mierda
No me deja tomar fotos la mierda sucia asquerosa está. Se merece un finger down👎🏻
Pretty good
It’s a cute way to share how your week went with friends a bit hard to figure out in the start but it’s pretty much just picture sharing

Face recognition search feature suggestion
I’ve been using Retro for about a year with my friends, and I honestly love the app. It’s become one of our favorite ways to keep and relive our memories together. The design is great, and it feels much more personal than a regular photo gallery. One feature I would absolutely love is the ability to search photos using face recognition or people recognition. When an album gets really big, it can be very time-consuming to scroll through thousands of photos just to find pictures of one specific person. Being able to search by person would make finding memories so much easier and would improve the app a lot. Overall, Retro is an amazing app, and this feature would make it even better. Thanks for all the work you’ve put into it!

Hiii this apps really good! Since I don’t have TikTok or Snapchat I feel like this makes me feel better.. it’s so fun having memories with my friends, one thing is that you can’t post videos ofcourse without premium but I think it’s good overall baiii!!!

You know what I love this app this is probably the best app I’ve downloaded so far. I love that it’s free and it’s so smooth to download and to set up. This is one of the best apps you could ever download so you know what I started this is a very great experience so far keep it up.!!❤️
terrible
I go into the app to try and make an account, didn’t even let me make one, after deleting the app and downloading again, it works however then it asks me for a username. every single thing doesn’t work, complete gibberish, random words. every single thing i tried it wouldn’t let me make a username. this app is terrible and needs serious work done. not happy
Pretty good
Videos should be allowed for free and they can be up to one minute

what social media WAS & should be again
it’s like Instagram in the early 10s, when it was just your friends and goofy memories. no need to optimize, perfect, edit or stress about what ifs. love this app as an alternative to big socials
Not working for me pls help
Hi, I’m trying to create an account on Retro using my Canadian Bell phone number. My number starts with the 367 area code. The “Next” button stays greyed out, and unlike my friends, I never get the option to select my country before entering my number. I’ve already tried reinstalling the app and checking my region settings, but nothing worked. Could you please help me fix this issue?
I’m not been using a little bit
I haven’t been using this app for a while but I already like it I can see what my friends are doing without worrying about any creepy people spying on me and so far I haven’t had to pay for things that are needed sure they would be nice to have but I can enjoy the app without having to spend any money

RETRO IS GREAT
Retro Makes it so easy to connect with my friends. I see it as instagram, but for people who aren’t quite ready for it yet. I can just post pictures to my week, add friends, and make albums so easily! If there is one thing I would change though, I think I’d want more options to edit your pics before you post them like on instagram and Snapchat. Just to give it an option to be more attractive. Other than that, I love the app!!!!!🫶😀👍🩶
Disappointing
Been using for about 3 weeks. Very unfriendly to use- not intuitive in the UI. Biggest bug bear though which is why I’m going to stop using it, is having to post in order see other people’s posts. I hate that! It’s a shame as there is definitely a gap in the market for a non algorithm based social media platform but unless they make significant improvements, this is not it.
Love being able to share my life with my friends without being worried about other people seeing it.
I have really enjoyed using this app. It is so great to be able to share pictures of my life with friends and see what is going on in theirs in a very private way. I love that only my friends can see my posts and I don’t have to worry about random people seeing them. Retro has been a blast to use!
Better than Instagram
It will succeed if it’s only for close friends. Post about your day. Maybe only allow 1 photo per day only. That way doesn’t become endless content. And keep subscription cost low, never do ads. Never do reels 2 stars because price is way to high. This will work at 10 dollars annually.
Retro
I think retro is a really nice app for any season or holiday
🌷🎀
Omg this app is like crazy good I use it all the time for school and it’s good for slideshows!!
Retro
I really like how easy it is to organize all my photos in this app. Everything is laid out in a way that makes it simple to find what I’m looking for without wasting time scrolling forever. The organization features are definitely one of its strongest points, and they make managing a large number of photos feel much more convenient. However, there are some frustrating issues that take away from the experience. When I try to upload a lot of photos at once, it takes a very long time to process, which can be really inconvenient. It makes something that should be quick feel slow and annoying. Another big problem is that when I go back to view my photos, they often don’t load properly. Sometimes I can’t see them at all, which defeats the whole purpose of uploading them in the first place. This makes the app feel unreliable at times. Overall, the app has great organization features, but the slow uploads and loading issues make it hard to fully enjoy using it.
Picture Selection
It’s a great app concept but please allow for us to select pictures from other dates in our camera roll to go into different weeks. Because some pictures get sent to you days or weeks later but need to go into another week you know. So allow for pictures from specific weeks to show up but also a tab for whole camera role to select pictures that might have been sent to you. Like of a concert or party etc.
BOOOO🍅
it was amazing before BUT I CAN'T ADD VIDEOS NOW and that was all I used it for its basically useless now 😕
.
it’s kinda unclear what im doing, for example i dont really get how to work it… but it’s a good idea
Great for memories
It’s amazing to look back at memories with friends and family
Do I seriously need friends to use this app?
I just wanted to use this app to store photos digitally but it won’t allow me to continue if I don’t share this to 4 others. Ig if you’re a loner you don’t get to be one of the cool kids lol
Pretty cool
Really cool app but I wish there was read receipts and a way to customize how far back people you give keys to can see. I’ve also noticed the notifications being a bit delayed but that’s the problem!
Brilliant app except paywall
I have been using this app for about a year ish now, and had absolutely no complaints. However, suddenly most of the features have been put behind a paywall. This is a massive shame as now I have no use for this app and will have to uninstall, as I am not paying £40 a year to upload videos instead of just photos (along with other really basic features that you would think should really be included)…
log in system is weird
i have an account on my phone and i wanted to log into my account on my ipad so i clicked ,already have an account’ and added in my phone number and username just for it to tell me that that username and phone number has already been used?? like i asked to log into my account not create one.?
