Tailored exercises clearly explained
The first time I contacted my GP about my back, he made an appointment with their physios. Soonest appointment was 5 weeks time. By that time, I had had a crisis with back and rung 111 and 999 overnight one particular night because the pain was the worst I had ever experienced and I needed pain relief. I couldn’t move. I have never been so scared (52 yr old woman). I saw an osteopath about 4 times prior to seeing the GP physio who started me on (similar to Flok) exercises etc. It cost £65 an appointment but I needed help. I saw the physio who was absolutely useless. Hardly spoke English, had me walk a long corridor with him to reach the examination room and never looked at me, then later needed to see how I walked taking the 4 steps there was room to take in the room!!! Examination was very basic. Sent me off with exercises which caused a lot of discomfort. When I showed them to the osteopath he said they were completely inappropriate. So, the reason for the lengthy history in relation to Flok is, that it may be an app and not a real person, but, the assessment is based on factual questions and answers and the exercises are tailored to this. The lady speaks clearly and is easy to understand. She demonstrates the exercises for you. You can give responses when asked and at the end there is the option to leave a voice note for more help (which I haven’t used). Only negatives I can say is that watching and participating via a smart phone isn’t ideal. Trying to hold phone and watch, put somewhere else for different type of exercise. Giving warning at beginning of video that you will need a mat to lie on, a chair of particular size and wall space to use would also be helpful as I ended up having to move to different areas of the house to find the right space in middle of assessment (we don’t all have an exercise studio to use!!!!). It is a sad reflection of the NHS that I prefer this to seeing a real life physio locally because quite frankly I don’t trust that they know what they are doing. I am an ex nurse so was very shocked by my experience. However, I am enjoying Flok and hopeful that my back issues will improve.
Review
Although this session is good in some ways. It doesn’t allow me to express how much discomfort I’m feeling and where exactly. For example my right hip is very painful, I’m unable to bend my right knee to put on my sock/ shoe so during the session it’s very difficult to convey my anxiety . The choice of questions are limited.
Flok Review
I found that the difference between a sofa and chair is critical in being able to do some of the exercises. Going from standing to floor, then chair, then back to floor was enough for me to stop as I was in agony
Good start
Yes some pain but push through it do what ya told
Mr
Too fast for me, i am still positioning my self and the exercise ia almost finish
Helping
Easy to use App, very informative, and the exercises to date have been useful in getting my back pain free.
Glitchy
Keeps glitching and taking you back to the start of the assessment.

Absolutely brilliant app having had a disc removed years ago and many physio appts face to face this is just as good if not better, as long as you give honest answers this is very helpful. I work as a secretary for the NHS and patients frequently complain about wait times until they are seen. I have been advocating this app and encouraging patients to give it a go. The self referral is easy to do and you receive help quickly, thank you.
Excellent
I have found the exercises very easy to follow. So far the exercises are having a beneficial effect on my lower back pain problem. The relaxation exercises are very useful, for removing stress.
Great physio
Really great physio helping to move and reduce pain.
Great App for a bad Back.
This App was amazing, it was a weekend and my back suddenly went, I was in so much pain and saw this was advertised on a local magazine for free with a code. I gave it a go and I was so impressed, instantly talks you through what you can do and creates exercises for you on behalf of your answers in the comfort of your own home. The next morning my back was amazing, I still kept doing the exercise like it suggests. I’d pay whatever if costs to use this App it was like having your own physio in the room.
The clinical assessment is excellent
This app is excellent. I was impressed by how comprehensive and thorough the medical assessment is - even relaying your own personalised summary back to you. You then start your physiotherapy treatment plan with full confidence that it is tailored to your needs, and know what you will be regularly reviewed and re-assessed.

I tried out this app out of professional interest (I’m a physiotherapist). I was impressed by the quality of the app design and how personal it felt. In the NHS we can currently usually only offer one session, or follow-up sessions that are weeks or months away. This app therefore does a much better job of regularly tailoring advice and exercise guidance which is something that you won’t get unless you pay large sums for frequent private physio sessions. It is safe and you will have a phone call booked in with a physio if you have any signs of concern. The screening process is thorough and uses the same questioning that I would use in my practice. I would definitely recommend the app and hope that it will be a great help to those who previously have not felt they have had the support they require for their back pain.
