I love this app!
What a great idea and it’s so helpful! I’m from Tennessee and when I come down to Florida to fish this app is invaluable for a guy like me. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. You can really tell the developers know their stuff and actually care!
“Photo fish identifier”
They said in the pro version of the app that there was a photo fish identifier feature, so I could identify the fish that I caught when I was fishing in an unfamiliar place. What really happens is it uploads the photo to an email and send it to a staff member to identify which I did. They said they would get back to me in 3 to 4 days and that was about a year ago.
Fish ID feature is non existent
UPDATE After using the app, to be fair, this is more about Fish RULES. In that regard, this app does the job very well. It’s in fact probably the best out there. Fish ID is not really a prominent feature (just for now, hope.) 1-star upgraded to 4. I bought a 1-year subscription because I thought the fish identification feature would work very well with the rules on species limits. It turns out you may get a response to your photo 49 hours later (maybe) in your email. Needless to say, it won’t help you if a warden comes along. I promptly cancelled my subscription, but I’m stuck with this app for the remaof the year.
Used to be good
They just put full screen ads in this app that block you from scrolling down to see the fish list to get to the fish you are looking for. I understand ads to monetize an app, but if the app isn’t functional because of the ads, it won’t monetize you at all. If they don’t fix this quickly, I will be deleting this app.
Latest update with add crashes and laggy.
Please fix the app since you had to ad ads into the app. Freezes and crashes despite deleting and redownloading. Was great app now trash with the ads update. UPDATE: Developer has fixed issues. Running smoother with ads not locking up App.
Perez for fishing
This app should have been in the ten star rating category it’s free and it’s great. I’ve been all over my state and other states and it lets me know what I can keep, size, limit, and gear. I have used it for years I think you guys should have a little donation feature, don’t get me wrong keep it free but I wouldn’t mind chipping in to your app, you’ve proven to me that this app is more of what we need in this world. Great work and a world of thanks to the developers. And yes iam purchasing the 29 dollar app just because.
Incorrect Information, Poorly Managed App
I see rules that are wrong, and not in sync with the current regulations. The intent of this app is to provide information to people fishing and by providing inaccurate information as they do, they put everyone at risk. Risk of citations, fines, and even imprisonment! Get it together!!!! Do not rely on information from his app to provide you accurate fishing rules and regulations.
Red Drum rules
Really like this app but it may be out dated. Red drum shows I can keep one but the FWC site says none. Not keeping any but it may be misleading for others. Am I not looking at something incorrectly?
Don’t bother contact them, they won’t respond
I installed this app because a friend highly recommended it and spoke very well about it. At first, I was excited to try it out. However, my experience has been nothing but frustrating. I tried to log in through Gmail and followed all the instructions. According to the FAQs, I needed to enable two-factor authentication, which I already have. I even tried registering with my regular email, and while I was able to create the account successfully, I simply cannot log in on the iS app. I'm using an iPhone, and no matter what I do, it just won't let me in. I reached out to support by email, created a ticket, and even sent them screenshots and videos explaining the issue. Up until now, I haven't received a single response. It really feels like unless you pay for a membership, a subscription, or some other service, they just ignore you completely. The app itself seems to provide good information, but what's the point if I can't even unlock its potential because I'm not able to log in? Honestly, this has been a very disappointing experience.
App is great, but Michigan is not supported?
The app is fantastic, it gives you tons of info and all the regulations you need. But for some reason, Michigan is not supported. I manually set my location to Michigan, and it said “no location set”. I did the same for other states, and it was fine. It is just Michigan. And this is a problem, because I live in and fish mostly in Michigan. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and that didn’t work. If there was support for Michigan, it would be a 5 star.
Don’t be scared by the lack of reviews
If you’re looking for an app that helps you identify fish species in the specific area you’re fishing, this is the one you’re looking for. It only took a couple minutes to learn to use and has been very helpful in determining fish species, relevant angling regulations, and even determining if a species is decent table fare! And no annoying adds noted yet.
Only one specie
No information. Only shows a couple fishing store. This app is not ready for any data or information🤣
Certain Species unavailable
I have been using Fish Rules for easy access to size and bag limits. I fish NY Long Island waters. I have not been seeing Porgy (Scup) and Summer Flounder (Fluke). I’ve sent two messages without a response. This is my third attempt for support hoping that a low rating will get a reply. Thanks.
formatting issues with pro max series…
When clicking on the photos of the fish, the bottom left corner “close” button is cutoff. A really simple solution would to be turning the .cornerradius to a lower number, but this is an issue i was surprised to see on such a well developed app otherwise.
Add to Apple Watch!
Love this app, but would really like an Apple Watch version where I can scroll through species with the crown while diving.
Buggy upgrade
Was great, now tries to play 50 ads at once. Can’t get past the g’s before locking my phone.

Tell us when season is open, not closed
Good app and helpful for identifying fish. It would be much more helpful if the app said when the seasons were open, not closed. Wish it was easier to select a location on the map.

This app is very versatile. Play around with it while your home to find features that will be very helpful on the water.
Not always accurate
After repeated emails with fish rules that I showed them they have rules wrong nothing was done to change the misinformation that was over a year old.
Tends to have wrong info
Make sure to double check local regulations. I’ve definitely noticed that the app has given me false info on certain species being open and size limits have been wrong as well on heavily regulated migratory species.
Dates closed ?? Huh???
Love the fish rules app. It is a must have if your fishing in Florida. - My one annoyance is that it lists the days CLOSED rather that days OPENED. It really absolutely backwards. Never have I seen a business advertise when they are closed rather than when they are opened. The app does this and you have to figure when you can fish versus making plain and straightforward. Other than this and needing more photos of species I like the app.
Learn more about the fish you catch
In addition to many other services, as a pro subscriber, I can get a personal response from a PhD with the identity of the fish I catch and with links to more so I can learn about their habitat, distribution and behavior. This is all based on a photo sent via the app. Super app!!
Paid $30 for nothing
I paid 30 to use the app. The app did not give me premium, but apple charged me for it. Tech support keeps telling me I’m signed into the wrong account, but I’ve never made a different account. I’m now going on almost 7 days of my 365 with no access. I deleted the app and tried to sign back in, and now the app won’t even let me log in. No error message, just a never ending loop of saying it’s signed in, but it doesn’t do anything. If I can’t get this resolved I’ll have to make a complaint with apple to get a refund unfortunately. Update: fish rules still refused to help me with the app. I disputed the charge with apple for a refund. Definitely a buyer beware app. 50/50 it might work it might not, and if it doesn’t their tech support won’t help you.
Disappointed…
Watched a video about this app, stating it will cover any area I fish. Downloaded and of course to my disappointment just like most “great” apps that are advertised they cover maybe 10 states. Recommend getting some coverage in MT,WY,CO,SD,ND,ID. This app could be the next onX if ran properly, or it’ll get passed up sooner or later by a better competitor. Would be more than happy to give a 5 star rating for functionality and ease of use but just can’t with lack of customer coverage. Maybe I’ll check back in a year, or I’ll just download a better competitor when one arises…
Half lacking
The fresh water fish line us is really missing just about everything no bass no trout no Muskie nothing the salt water side is actually good though

I love this app. Albrey and Rick did an amazing job designing this app. They made it so simple and clear. If you have questions about anything you can email them and they will get back to you very quickly. It also tells you open or closed season and all the prohibited ways of catching these species. It’ll save you a lot of headache. Good luck !
Customer service no help
I signed up for pro through Apple paid etc Have the receipt. Will not log into Apple. Sent email to customer service. They said I do not have a pro account but Apple says I do for 29.99. I need to log into whatever email I used. Tried all my email just in case will not log in to any. So out 30 and they will not help. Good app lots of potential love the info but customer service is no help.
App update
I never had a problem with the previous version. I can load fishing regulations for state and federal waters anywhere in the US without a hiccup. The new update will not load my state regulations. Hope you get this resolved.
Not terrible but not great
One of the most common fish in the Chesapeake Bay is the Spot, Leiostomus xanthurus. But it is missing from the list of fish. Couldn’t log my catch today.

Asked For Help - Totally Ignored
I purchased this app 2 weeks ago - I needed to know the rules on catching saltwater flounder on SC coast area. No references at all about Flounder in their app which a ridiculous oversight. I asked the developer 2 times about this problem. They have totally ignored me. I’ll be asking for a refund and plan on complaining about their app and lack of response to Apple. Tony Asheville NC
New update not working.
The new update is not working. It is not able to find my location nor any regulations come out.
Fish rules
Definitely a must have if you’re gonna go fishing. Easy to use and is always accurate so you never have to worry about keeping an illegal fish
The latest version jumps to my current location, and I have to pay to map a location I’m going to!
Put it back the way it was! I could use the map to go to my fishing destination. Now you have me paying for the upgrade to do this!

Fix it!!!
The map is not working and showing a blank black screen on my iPad and on my iPhone I cannot look at the map to set my home port. I purchased the pro and have already cancelled the renewal, wishing I could cancel the current subscription since it obviously does not work on my iPad!!!!
