Poorly design and executed local weather app
I tested the three local weather station apps (WCNC, WSOC & WBTV) and WCNC was by far the most accurate and best designed user interface. WCNC is well designed and is enjoyable to use. WCNC is not cluttered with distracting ad’s and seems more accurate. Well done WCNC and shame on WSOC & WBTV for using a third party weather app (both are very similar) that is focused on pushing trashy ad’s like Temu and Morris Jenkins.

Hit & Miss
Weather reporting not consistent.. especially on weekends. I don’t want a video from 13 hours ago. I don’t mind 4 or 5 hours ago. Way too many video advertisements! Very frustrating.
Weather where I am
My house is located on Jonas Ridge, NC 28641 and elevation is about 385 feet therefore I do not receive accurate temperature at my location. Sometimes Channel nine will mention Jonas Ridge temperature. But not available on channel 9 weather app.

They ruined it.
Now when they send you a severe weather warning and you click on the warning for the details, it sends you to a video (with an ad) you have to wait for. Before you could just click the warning and READ the information quickly to see if it was pertinent for your area and have time to take action. What an absolute joke of an app now. Moving elsewhere.
Don’t rain on my road
So many times when it is raining in Rock Hill City on our road it doesn’t. Like the storm yesterday, my daughter lives in town just a couple of blocks from the fountain, poured down at her house didn’t rain at all here. So funny we say it don’t rain on Dunlap Roddey Rd. It like stopes at the end of our road , maybe a few yards will get some but not many. This happens a lot. But got some last night. LOL
Way off lately
The forecast shown on app doesn’t even come close to match their live, and video recorded forecast.
Dew pt. & accuracy with some emoting on air
Since the station no longer accepts email, we’ll use the app. Neither the iPhone app nor the part time chief meteorologist provide Dew point, but every other station in the area does. I will not watch someone who can’t enunciate, slurs and emotes over weather and is usually wrong. I will also not watch anyone who drools over whiz-bang radar at the expense of ignoring the balance of the viewing area. As for the app, put the dew point in the iPhone app and you have 5 stars. You have radar options. In the meantime, I’ll watch Keith and Ashley, or another station when they’re not on.
Love my WSOC APP
I absolutely love my WSOC APP. It has kept me and my family apprised of many thunderstorm warnings and even a recent tornado warning, which prompted us to take pillows, blankets, flashlights and, of course my iPhone into the most interior first floor room of our home. It was pretty packed when you added the dogs, but we would never think of not including them in our safe space. They are family. I’m going to get on my soap box here as an animal advocate and rescuer and say to all of those people who have dogs tied to a tree out in their back yards that are often just left out there with no shelter, MAYBE food and water in a scum laden bowl, IF THE ARE LUCKY…if you are not going to bring your dog(s) inside and make them part of your family, WHY DID YOU GET THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? It’s a documented, scientific fact that dogs have feelings and unconditional love for their humans. You can harm them over and over and although they have no idea why, their only goal in life is to please you. They may mean nothing to you, but to them, you are their person, their whole life. If you’re not going to make them a part of your family, PLEASE TAKE THEM TO A NO-KILL SHELTER AND GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO FIND A FOREVER HOME WITH A FAMILY WHO WILL MAKE THEM PART OF THEIRS!! 🐕🦮🐕🦺. Sorry, WSOC for spring boarding off your review, but hopefully 🤞 🙏🏼 my words might get through to even just one person and one dog 🐶 might get a new family. Again, the WSOC APP is definitely one you need to add to your phone immediately. Whether iPhone or Android, you’ll get updates, live radar, etc. All the things you need to keep you and your loved ones safe in any kind of weather!!
Something Changed
I used to rely heavily upon this app for my daily Weather checks as well as severe weather updates. Over the last month or so I noticed that it rarely functions properly. We recently had some severe weather come through my area and the app provided little to no information. The radar showed absolutely nothing and was not functioning. Not sure what changes were made recently, but I’m definitely uninstalling and choosing something more reliable.
Hourly viewing
Would be great to be able to see the weather hourly and to click on that day and see outlays for each day
Say What?
Previous versions of the app had the ability to view video of the most recent weather forecast. This was useful to those of us who were interested in weather. The WSOC-TV meteorologists do a great job. What knucklehead thought that the streaming video of anything but weather would be meaningful in this app? Whoever that was kick them in the shins or give them a dope slap.

Interrupts phone calls
I am deleting this app today! This app keeps interrupting my phone calls over and over and you cannot hear the other person speaking! It could be your father’s last dying breath and words, and it will interrupt what they are saying and you can never get that back again! I am over this!
Ad’s Ruin App
Enjoyed the app until they started making you watch an ad before the video. Get a notification of “Breaking News”, tap on it to see the “Breaking News” and have to endure a 30 second video ad before seeing the “Breaking News”. By the time the ad finish’s, the news conference or video about the situation is concluding or you have missed major portion of the information.
Needs work..
Nice update, but would love to see opening weather graphics with only the colorful pictures, along with wind & humidity. Leave out the weather man pic on front. Put him on the bottom of the page, along with video forecast, & leave the section for displaying weather, for the weather. Also, it would be real nice if you could display your hourly temps in a horizontal scroll, to save space & improve scrolling. Also, if you could display a 10-day forecast instead of 7, on front page, that would improve the experience. Thanks.

Daily highs/lows not accurate anymore
Not sure what happened but for about a month now when looking at Daily high/low it is not accurate. Have to open up Hourly to get an accurate high & low for the day. Example today its showing High of 70 & highest temp it gets all day today is 56. Please fix it. Thx

Never gets the weather right with all this technology……it was better in the 80s and 90s …..deleting app due to fake news
No longer works.
I’m not sure what happened but the app hardly ever works right anymore. The temperature nearly always says it’s 77 degrees, morning, noon and evening, every day of the week. Also, the radar no longer works. I’ve tried uninstalling and installing it again but it didn’t help. I’m going to permanently uninstall it and find something else.
The ONLY weather app I trust
Born and raised in the Charlotte metro area. WSOC-TV Weather is the FIRST to have a local Doppler radar. National Weather Service has Charlotte in a radar black hole because of the lay of the land from the foothills through the Piedmont. WSOC-TV has been my GO TO weather and news source since the late 1970’s. I trust them that much. I survived Hurricane Hugo thanks to them even though they lost their television transmission tower

You had a good working radar. The new one is seriously inadequate. Please go back to your previous radar. Radar is important to me.

Good weather app
WSOC-TV weather app is the best local app I have found. Very user friendly. Other channels’ apps have too many ads. A weather alert sounds and some of them take me to an add. Not so with WSOC-TV. It is easy to use radar to show what you want to see. I recommend it.

No matter where I go I can always get the latest and greatest local weather report and especially the local radar plus warnings well in advance of all types of hazardous weather storms…. AND THEIR ACCURATE!! Best weather app of all of them and I’ve tried many, this one is a keeper…and a user for your weather forecast!!David
