The Best For Writing
Purchased in the year 2012. After so many years this is still the most useful dictionary for any writing project. Strongly recommend!

American pronunciation 'real voice'
Everything in this app is perfectly fine, but it needs a tab where we can select an accent (hopefully real voices not robots). I'd be thankful if you add this feature to the app. That's why I didn't give 5 stars. 🖤
Not so 'advanced'
This dictionary has quantity but not quality as it's far too concise. Should be described as 'basic' dictionary, not 'advanced'. Nothing like the descriptiveness you'd expect from a decent dictionary so useless to me I'm afraid.
I like it except for two things
I like the app, but have two quibbles. 1. The x to clear the search field doesn’t contrast enough with the background. 2. I can’t find a way to copy search results. Other than those things I am pretty happy with the app.

Good except Definitions are vague.
The definitions in this app most of the time are very vague leaving me to search the definition from Safari to get a clearer answer.
User friendly
It gives you several alternative synonyms as well and quite easy to use. One of the best references to have when looking for an appropriate word or phrase to use.

An excellent resource that also offers audible pronunciation help. Everyone should download this app.
Almost excellent
This dictionary is good.. well worth the money. But.. the fuzzy search is not as good as others. For instance: If you type in 'buteful' it comes up with nothing. The Dictionary XL app shows possible result to be 'beautiful'. Second complaint; this app really needs an option for you to file favorite words. There are so many words in this dictionary that your favorite list will get ridiculously long. If you're like me and had an American Heritage app, then this is a good replacement. No photos with words, but the word links are awesome. The search is lighting fast too. I'll gladly give this five stars if the above issues are addressed.

That is what I think. Thank you for writing and updating this fine application.(Language is our medium of thought and communication, so this one is important!) Could you add, perhaps even as a paid feature, a rhyming dictionary? Many thanks, again, for your efforts in this wonderful tool that is also entertainment and learning!

I actually enjoy the AED, and use it exclusively, because it does what I need it to. And more! Who knew a dictionary could be so much fun? I recommend it highly.
I would love to use this more
... but it's iOS 7 only. Seems really great but unfortunately I have only installed iOS 7 on 1 out of 5 of my iDevices. Sorry but this app looses a star for such narrow compatibility. I would be less irritated if it hadn't been such a short amount of time since the time iOS 7 was released. Please make a previous version of this app available for those of us who are not ready to go all in on iOS 7. Other than that the app is great. On my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.3 it's amazingly useful. I would be more likely to use an offline dictionary on my iPads though (that's where I do most of my offline writing), I have iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2 and iOS 6.1.3 on my iPad 3 wifi only on both. Anyway , can't wait to use this in the future.

Advanced English dictionary & Thesaurus app doesn’t require internet connection, and audio pronunciation works offline. This app has concise definition, and excellent thesaurus with word links. Its word search engine is excellent with very smart word suggestions when I don’t know how to spell the word. This app is an awesome dictionary. I have been using this app both online and offline. In that I read and write quite a bit, the use of a dictionary, thesaurus and finding proper antonyms and synonyms is a must.
