Journalism never more vital
Local reports with factual content are so important in today’s world of untethered observations that may or may not have any basis in reality. Overall, the 4th estate is critical to democracy, and the printed word continues to be more reliable and in-depth than the electronic media, much less the cotton candy known as social media. The cost of excellence in journalism via a newspaper subscription is an investment in our ideals as a nation, and without it, the dumbing down continues. And that’s even when the daily news annoys us or the paper seems thin.
Earlier app works without ads
I have an app on my iPhone that states printed addition that works perfectly, this one freezes and goes to a dark page with an advertisement then might jump back to the beginning. Won’t load most of the time if you don’t clear your browser.
Please!! TD can be so much better!!
TD inserts the most ridiculously inappropriate photos into its news stories that are often shockingly absurd. No photo is better than a wildly screwy one that has no relevance to the story. Also, some stories are left up way too long after the whole universe has shifted. Many times it’s not just yesterday’s news, it’s last week’s. We should be able to count on TD for instant coverage of at least the very local news, but are often having to look for another news source. On the other hand, TD is the first place I go for news in the morning. I just want it to be better.
I miss the actual view of a day’s print Democrat!
You once could get your coffee, your iPad and leaf through the replica of each day’s TD. Page by page, section by section…but no more. The old format made it easy to access other Gannett pubs across the nation…no more. I pay a small fortune each month for getting FOUR HOME DELIVERED NEWSPAPERS a week (I chose no Monday or Tuesday., you zapped Saturday). All you need are pirate bandannas, masks, a long, thin mustaches and sabres to complete the image your business portrays. This app is pathetic, geared to your ad $$$$ and useless to a reader. Just reproduce the damned paper and I’ll wade through your bias and woke blather to glean a few nuggets of truth and reality on my own.
Tallahassee Local & National News
Best coverage of local area news around. In depth reporting Radio and TV cannot match.
Amazed!
Having just had cataract surgery with a new lens implant on my second eye I still am having trouble reading our printed paper. Reading it on my eye phone where I can adjust the font is great, & I hadn't realized there is more of some content, such as Zings!
Problems
Needs Fixing. App eon't open if it does it immediately shuts down or freezes. Has not worked for a long time.
Review TD
I like the app but wish the news was more current.
ePaper subscription constantly has to be reset
The content is declining (thank goodness for USA Today) and I have to call and spend 15 minutes every few weeks to get the subscription to be recognized. My credit card payments are automatic and continuous. I’m really losing patience with this paper.
Old News
If you want to read about what was reported on other local news outlets in Tallahassee 3 days ago, the Democrat is for you.
News
Good job with local and international news.
Aggravated
How in the heck do i pause my delivery. Where is it?
Enewspaper won’t load
The e-edition will not load on my iPad. Says it detects custom text size and do I want to use that setting. Whether I answer yes or no, I get nothing but a blank screen. Other options show but not the e-edition.
Doesn’t always load 100%
I really enjoy reading the paper online. It’s easy to hold, you can easily adjust the font size for your eyes and adjust brightness. Unfortunately it doesn’t always load correctly and many times thr words are jumbled together justlikethissoyou have to figure out what it’s saying. Perhaps it’s not fully compatible with an iPad?
Terrific way to read the paper as an adjunct to the printed version.
This is of course the exact same version as the delivered daily paper. Both have their strong advantages, but insofar as an app goes, this one is easy to navigate, display and archive. It really is terrific!
Terrible format
Loved the print edition I dropped the at home delivery because of poor service, now you removed the print edition from e format bad decision and you wonder why your losing subscribers
Need patience…
…to use this app! So many glitches and now you have to wait for a pop up add to load on the first page of the paper’s sections (in the enewspaper) before you can hit the x to continue reading. But the app is the only one to see the Tallahassee Democrat…
Where are the comics
The new app does not include comics. Where do we access the comics?
Almost
Years ago as a grad student, I recall the Democrat as an afternoon paper. I have always desired to be aware of the world’s happenings . I reluctantly gave up the physical paper and appreciate the eNewspaper looking like my old friend. A touch of the world along with the state and opportunities nearby. For a bit more, Thanks for the USA Today being available .
Prefer traditional layout
This format is full of ads and all the news I read yesterday.
Advertisements
Ads are bothersome and block my reading. Articles are good.
Convenient
Very convenient and useful.
Not good at all
Trouble loading. Has locked up my Samsung notebook can’t even start the device now. No access to newspapers as before. Too many windows with no res instruction or guides as to what to do I just want the newspaper
Great local paper
Enjoy reading
Entitled high schoolers and those who are left out b/c we happen to be different
I would not even give you a one star rating but apparently that is not an option. In my (and other SAIL parents’ opinions) you cover only the schools who’s kids get brand new high-end cars on their 16th birthdays and don’t need money so they don’t work or contribute time towards our community. You should be ashamed of yourselves and your non-coverage of schools that you do not believe are significant. My children have thrived at SAIL which is why we chose it over the “wealthy schools”. So I and many other families will be canceling our subscriptions. You disappointed our graduates, our school and the parents and I am extremely disappointed about this.
Glad I can read my local newspaper anywhere
I am a fan
No benefit to new app
I have yet to find some benefit or advantage to this updated app for the print edition of the Tallahassee Democrat. This new app requires more interaction from the user, adds undesirable options, and seems unnecessarily bloated. Worst of all, they don’t respect your previously set email preferences. After installing this new app, you are forced to log in and then your email preferences are defaulted to on for all their newsletters. When you try to unsubscribe, you get an error with a promise that they will fix it soon. I have been getting this error for weeks and cannot get unsubscribed. And I should mention that I hate the pop-up browser window. The UI manager who approved that annoyance should be fired.
Best local news!
Albeit the only local new.
Feedback
Tried to pause delivery, couldn’t find way to do it on this awful website/app.
Excellent
Love it
Review TD App
I find this App tedious. There is so little local new that the Democrat subscription could not justify the cost. Now the tedium of trying to log in, stay on, see ads and reminders to renew - I may just give it up completely!
