What people like
- High quality cycling journalism and articles
- Very few ads
- High resolution imagery with zoom feature
- Modern and easy to use UI in recent updates
What they complain about
- Frequent app crashes and startup failures
- Requires internet connection to read downloaded issues offline
- Content lags behind website publications
- Difficult login and subscription verification process
Great mag, great app
Almost as lovely on the iPad as in print.
Can’t read downloaded magazines offline
This app requires the Internet to read downloaded Rouleur magazine editions. Apple Books, Kindle, PDF reader, Netflix, Amazon movies, practically all Podcast apps, Google Docs, Word among many other apps allow for working with downloaded content while offline, but not this one. Don’t plan on reading digital Rouleur while out in the country or on an airplane. Epic fail.
Revised app is great
App was redesigned sometime ago and it was great reading in a iPhone max screen. However it has now gone back to where it was and not easy to read in a iPhone max anymore. Please fix it.
App not up to date
The app is nice but the content is rarely up to date with the website content which just make it bad. Podcast can arrive from 5 to 10 days later than their publication. Article can arrive 1 full day after publication.
Could be pretty good
The app could actually be pretty good. It runs stably, is clearly laid out and the presentation of the articles on the iPhone is easy to read. Only the older issues of the magazine are not so much fun on the iPhone. The main criticism is that the app lags behind the publications. While you can always find the latest articles on the website, you sometimes have to wait hours or days for them to appear in the app. This is particularly disappointing in the middle of the Tour de France. The team responded quickly and kindly when the problem was pointed out. But unfortunately there is no solution yet.
Great Site and Magazine
High quality magazine and the site is as well. The magazines are collectors items👍🇨🇦
DNF
This update is horrible - it won’t allow you to log in! During the biggest bike race, let’s roll out a half baked updated. Genius. And I pay for this?!
Great magazine, less than ideal reading experience
Rouleur is a great magazine with great content, but the app isn't tailored for iPhone or iPad. It's basically a photo of each page that you zoom into in order to read it. Would be great if it was more like Wired magazine's experience.
Great Content, Scrolling Issue
There is a strange scrolling bug: often a page gets “stuck” and I can’t scroll up or down. Changing orientation and back again seems to fix it.
Love the magazine and the photos are incredible
Please continue the great work. Also App is great.
App design horrible
Love the content. Hate the app.
Dumb app design for great publication
Rouleur is great. Rouleur's app is idiotic. To access issues I've purchase, it requires me to sign in at least once a week using not my Apple ID, but my Rouleur log in. Otherwise, I can't access the issues. This means that I can't access them if I'm off line. What? I don't see why I have to sign in to access this material at all. It's my iPad. I purchased these issues on it. I have already verified my identity and downloaded the issues. This is stupid stupid stupid stuff. Rouleur, come on.
Great magazine. The app could be improved.
Some more regular testing and maintenance on the app would be necessary to keep up the high standards of the print edition. E.g. recently more wrongly masked html characters show up ("). The Tech channel seems discontinued. The online magazine UX should be improved. Right now it’s just like manually navigating through a pdf document…
The best short- and long form cycling journalism
The app is a great supplement to the magazine. Thanks for putting out such outstanding work!
Magazine is fantastic. App is a pice of crap.
The title pretty much says it all.
attenzione!
Nice pictures, good text, but too small for the iPhone! it should have this reader function like safari!
Going in circles trying to login
App didn’t remember my login details, no2 circling around in limbo. 👎👎👎
Superb Zine!
This is my fave read for cycling. I like there are very few ads, amazing articles that give great insight to riders and their struggles and successes. Top drawer for what’s happening with cycling.
How do I access the subscription I already paid for??
Confusing, useless. I wish I lived in an area where I could just get the print copy delivered to my house.
New update finally worthwhile
The new update finally makes the app ui modern and easier to use. Keep it up! Best cycling magazine around!
App DOES NOT WORK
This application used to work fine, I had a subscription for some time, then it just stopped opening. This is a great cycling magazine, for $160 for the print version in the USA, I'll pass if I can't get it for $30 for 6 months on my iPad. Do not buy the subscription, the App just plain doesn't work, and I have tried contacting the publisher with no success.
Things have improved
Most of these negative reviews are years old. The app is really well designed and works great (for me). No idea if I’m just lucky, but yeah… it’s sweet. 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏾🚴🏼♂️
HELP!
App crashes on launch!
Old reviews aren’t relevant anymore
App is great now and deserves a five star rating, keep the great content coming!
App broken
App will not load, keeps crashing. App support cannot be accessed.
Too site but..,
Really hard to find how to access it fully if you’ve already subscribed. That should be one of the first log in questions asked. Bizarre that it isn’t.
Crash on open
Latest iOS update breaks app, crash on open.
Not a single issue. Beautiful on an iPad.
There are scores of bad reviews for this app and I in no way want to say those experiences are invalid. I just haven’t had any issues at all. This magazine and app is the first I’ve ever really enjoyed and thought was worthwhile in a digital format. The ability to zoom in on already high resolution imagery is fun, let alone the best cycling journalism I have found to date. It’s certainly worth a try in my opinion and I hope you’ll be as lucky as I have been.
Purchase fails
I've bought quite a few issues but now purchase fails every time.
