I love classic RPGs like dungeon master, bards tale, Grimrock. This game was amazing. Just finished the main game and the expansion today. Entertained me for months. Thank you for creating this game. Much appreciated.

I finished the game a number of years ago, such a great game, amazing nostalgia! Found out about expansion decided to give her a go once again. Spent the last month getting to the gate and now I have to find 10 fiery gems? What are those??? Search online, the first thing I see, “hint: make sure to keep you diamonds and rubies if you want to enjoy the expansion.” NOOOOOOOO!!! I end up just dropping them, now I need them? Love the game, no way I can go through again just for gems... am I screwed??? HELP me Mario, you’re my only hope!

Dungeon Crawler RPG
A very fun, old school style, RPG. So far it’s a blast! Worth buying.
Not worth it
That little window is actually the whole amount of world you see it doesn't get any bigger, that text screen is usually just empty. I deleted it after playing five minutes.

Game appears to freeze at first fight with rats in shop
Really wanted to play this, but when I encounter the rats the game just stops. I can click the move buttons on and off and bring up the settings, but no other input works. Anybody have this issue?
Great game but ...
I am a blind user just getting into gaming after using the iPad for several years. I bought this game because I find the storyline intriguing and the game was listed as accessible with VoiceOver. This is true mostly but ... navigating is still tricky. I’m playing this game on a hardware keyboard, by the way. Please include descriptions of the immediate surroundings that the player is moving through so that a blind player is aware of his or her options when walking about. That way it might be possible to navigate around and avoid being stopped by too many obstacles. Other than the navigation problem, and some difficulty acquiring gold for the characters, I enjoyed the gameplay once I finally managed to get where I was supposed to go. Hi: I received your response. I should have made it clear that I was only offering suggestions, not criticizing what you have done on the game. The amount of work that goes into games like this means that a good game is just as much work to put together as a good book. Your comment that you had not designed a game for the blind was relevant, however. I personally was never under the impression that this was a game designed solely for the blind; I assumed it was a game designed for everyone, and that you had included VoiceOver support to make it accessible to a wider audience. So, I don’t think it’s necessary to remove VOiceOver support; having a mainstream RPG that everyone can enjoy regardless of vision or lack thereof isn’t something to be taken lightly. Love it
Any turn based jrpg/roguelike/dungeon crawler with retro graphics is a must buy for me. Couldn’t get it faster. Really well done only thing I wish the direction arrows didn’t cover information but that’s extremely petty and no big deal. I do wish I had more explanation and little guidance on classes and how it all works because every game is different. Buy it!

Toll gemachtes Retro-RPG
Ob das nach mehr als 20 Jahren noch Spaß macht, hab ich mich zuerst gefragt, nachdem man auf dem PC Titel wie Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights oder Skyrim gespielt hat? Skeptisch war ich sicherlich und ich hätte einen niedrigeren Schnupperpreis zum Einstieg gut gefunden. Schließlich gewann doch der Nostalgiefaktor und ich hab's gekauft. Und siehe da, das betagte Spielprinzip des bloß-noch-ein-Level und Nur-noch-schnell-dieses-eine-Dungeon hat trotz der schlichten Grafik wenig von seinem Reiz verloren. Ein wenig Schade, dass der Entwickler nicht doch ein weniger stärker vom alten Spielprinzip abgewichen ist. Ein wenig Mut zu etwas Innovation hätte sicher nicht geschadet. Trotzdem macht es eine Menge Spaß! Alte Bard's Tale Kämpen dürfen bedenkenlos zugreifen.
Very hard for VoiceOver users
After hearing that this game received improvements for VoiceOver support, I was eager to try this out. Coordinates are an okay thing to have, but only if I know what's around me. Not just the exits, not just what kind of floor I'm standing on, but access to the map so I know where to go. If this wandering around aimlessly is what sighted people have to go through as well, then fine, this game isn't for me. But if the first 15 minutes of the game are easy for sighted gamers, then yes, the map should be made accessible, or an explanation of things and places on the map should be given. Also, it is possible that I've missed something important, in which case I'd be grateful to know what I've missed. But for now, this game isn't one I can recommend.

Lässt sich nicht von englisch wechseln. Nur weisse Seite. Update Ich hätte die Rezension vielleicht auch geändert wenn der Entwickler hier nicht so reagiert hätte. Dann lösche einfach das umschalten der Sprache ingame wenn es nicht funktioniert. Oder da einfach einen text rein das es in den Systemeinstellungen zu finden ist. Sorry das man das hier erklären muss. Update. Funktioniert auf 2 Geräten nicht. IPhone 12 pro und iPad pro 2019
Good game for bard's tale fans
This game was fun for old timely RPG fans. Crashed a lot at the beginning, but got better with time.
Fun but buggy.
A nice little Bards Tale style game.... Loved it, however the constant crashes and lost game play makes it a waste of time playing. shame really, as the game seems promising. - John.
Le rétro de trop ?
Pour un amateur de rétro gaming ayant débuté sur 8 bits, difficile de résister à l'appel de ce titre. Et force est de reconnaître que ce jeu arrive de belle manière à rendre hommage à son illustre prédécesseur/modèle: The Bard´s Tale. Son meilleurs atout est l'auteur. De façon très clair ce dernier injecté de la passion et de l'amour dans son bébé et ça ce sent du site web à la production finale. Rien que cela, ça lui vaut la moyenne. Mais le problème de Silversword est justement le trop grand respect de son ancêtre. Car soyons clair le gameplay est franchement douteux. Ne pas voir les ennemis dans un couloir et tomber dessus sans une indication est une chose en 1980, est-ce tolérable en 2014 ? Pour rappel dungeon master en 1988 a corrigé le tir avec des ennemis visibles à l'avance. Autre exemple: Le champs de vision de quelques cases pique un peu de nos jours. Passons sur l'inventaire délicat (Pas ou peu de description, échange entre les persos galère) et les sorts sans description. Enfin les déplacements se font par des icônes situées à un endroit saugrenu quand votre ipad n'est pas posé. Bref, ceux qui adorent le pur rétro gaming aimeront sans doute, et j'aurais aimé faire de même. Mais parfois trop de rétro tue le rétro. Maintenant peut être que j'ai raté la substance moelleuse du jeu, et je serai ravi d'être corrigé. Mais en l'état, je ne peux pas mettre plus de 3 étoiles.
Classic Fantasy RPG Experience
I love this game. As a fan of the first Bard’s Tale, I was hoping to rediscover that experience that was so engulfing when I was younger. Silversword did exactly that! I found the gameplay easy to handle. The graphics are cool and the dungeons are challenging. There is a fair amount of grinding (like every decent RPG) but not too excessive. Can’t recommend this one enough. One last request: Mario - make more, please!! I’m pretty sure the “Dragons” expansion was leading to another challenge (see the Forgotten Isles map). Please make more content!!! Thanks.
Not worth your time or money
A poorly implemented rip off of The Bard’s Tale. Every change from that game that the creator has made has resulted in a worse game. Not worth purchasing.
A Solid Game
A real throwback to the early 90s. I've been enjoying the game though found the race choices limited and very much as narrow focused as 1st and 2nd AD&D were. Three human options is plenty boring, at that rate you might as well gone with half-elves and half-orcs, added a little spice to that dull porridge. Still a very nice find and I could imagine a sequel would only expand brilliantly on a good starting point. I'll have my wallet ready.

Absolutely love it
The most entertaining game I’ve played on the iPad. It’s really similar to old Bard’s tale games and has a depth of play that I’ve never seen on an iOS game. The extra $3 for the compendium is well worth it to support the developer and encourage more games like this.

Great game but stopped working when I upgraded my iPod 4 th gen to iOS 6. Just drops out to the main screen after about a minute of use. Update please please!!

I spent two hours crawling through the App Store looking for a good dungeon crawler and couldn’t believe Silversword was way down at 140-something! I’ve reviewed Silversword before, but Apple asked me to review it again, so here goes: BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT AT THE APP STORE! Look, I see the appeal of a couple of the games above it, like Baldur's Gate, but all of them are too dark, with overly complicated interfaces and show you your characters from above. Silversword's graphics are simple but well designed, the controls are well designed, and you see things from your own point of view (first person). It’s obvious that the developer plays the game himself! It costs a cup of coffee, unlike some of the others — a great value, and no big deal if you decide you don’t like it. So buy it!!
Frechheit
Zwar bin ich davon nicht betroffen, allerdings habe ich durch den letzten changelog erfahren, dass eine Arbeit an der VoiceOver Implementation nicht fortgeführt wird. Ich finde das menschlich eine Frechheit, dass Behinderte und blinde spiele sowieso kaum Möglichkeiten haben, auf mobilen Endgeräten vollwertige Spiele zu spielen, und sie mit ihrer instängstirnigen Art so eine weitere Möglichkeit beenden, blinden Spielern ein RPG zugänglich zu machen. Da bin ich doch mal gespannt was applevis und der accessibility support von Apple dazu sagen.
Old School Game
This RPG is one of the best I’ve played in in a long time. Well developed, very interesting, fun to play. I really like the idea of a multiple Charectors to develope just like the old Great rpgs that are gone. I enjoy playing it.
