spread the sign review
i’ve never reviewed an app on the app store but for this one i will, i absolutely love this app. it comes in handy and helps a lot when i need clarification, easy to use and has everything you need. my favorite asl app for sure!
My favorites lists just disappeared!
I’ve been working w spread the sign for about 8 months, building favorites, reviewing, really finding the app helpful and then today poof all my word lists that i have spent hours building and studying just disappeared! So much work down the drain and no support team to turn to. Seriously disappointed.
Sehr gute App
Sehr gute App!
greedy
great app but why do you have to pay for almost everything? unbelievably greedy and corrupt
Great!!
My pastor, who has been deaf his entire life, recommended this app. I am the worship leader for our deaf church and I probably use this app every week.
NOT FREE! Trick you!
International sign should free as it not language yet! It for universal. Never again to introduce to new people learning what sign look like and give them taste into. There just a-b abc not good enough. Not impressive at all. Back to old vision that I remember that brilliant.. whoever idea change that so ruin apps forever.
Pretty good
There’s some signs that are different from what I have learned and what other deaf people have learned. In my opinion it’s overall one of the better sign language apps out there, but I wish they would bring back the different speeds the person signing is performing. Also if there’s no video for a particular sign, the developer should either get rid of it or add it. Major plus is the different languages for signing. It’s a lot easier to explain to people who don’t understand there are different signs for different languages.
Fehlt Inhalt ‼️
Hallo
Ja
Great Tool
We use this tool for multiple projects related to interpreting and learning ASL. Along with several other platforms, this is one of the tools that support our needs when researching a Sign. It’s particularly useful when trying to find the International Sign for different Countries, as we aim to respect each respective country’s choice of their Sign. Thanks for the tool! Appreciate your great work!
Problem
The app was fine at first but once the requests to upgrade appeared the videos went blank. So I purchased the app for £4.99 and the videos are still blank.
Please update
This app was phenomenal, but worth the Last iOS it doesn’t work anymore. The videos aren’t found and instead you get an error message. Please update the app 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Paid version is not worth it
The dictionary is extensive and the inclusion of phrases and idioms is so useful. Multiple languages is also a cool feature. However, too many videos do not play, and paying for the app did not improve its functionally or features one bit. What exactly did I pay for?
Tolle App
I don’t know this language
I am able to speak better to my deaf Bishop’s wife because of this app.
Error message
I paid for this app and all I get is an error when I search for anything. I would appreciate a refund.
Needs an update?
This used to be the supreme and best sign app that I would always recommend… but idk the videos no longer work, and it makes me really sad 🥺🥺🥺
Not pleased
I thought for $4.99 it would give you more words but the words are still missing. Don’t waste your time purchasing this.
Okay
Ohne die Pro Version funktioniert sehr wenig ☹️😞
So helpful!!
This is a super comprehensive dictionary across many sign languages, including ASL. It has helped me communicate with deaf friends around the world. It's been a resource on my phone for years. Love it!
Not free
Don’t be fooled by the price on the App Store because as soon as you open the app it becomes clear that you can only use the dictionary which helps to an extent but I got this app for the other features not just the dictionary- be ready to pay if you want the full experience

Please
Stick to the website
I love the website it’s very helpful when I just can’t remember a word so I thought I’d download the app but unfortunately videos rarely ever work on the app. I recommend just sticking to the website.
Free app
Wonderful resource for learning ASL!
Terrible.
Couldn't even get one word without an in app purchase.
Has updates on this App been stopped
It’s been nearly a year since the last update. I’m about ready to give up on this App. Is there any plans to update it soon or has it been abandoned?
Paid app not supported
I have the latest paid version of your app on my new iPad Pro. The app does not play the videos that contain phrases. Dictionary words are fine. Can you please help and support me with this problem.
Paid £4.99 for upgrade a few years ago
I paid for the upgraded app a few years ago and all of a sudden my app has been downgraded, even though I’ve paid for it.
Sign Language Learning
Best sign language app ever, it helped with learning and comparing other sign languages visually and gestures. Especially for traveling or if ASL doesn’t have one sign but other sign languages do have.
Not free
Everything is an in app purchase
Recently started having issues
I LOVE this app! It's so helpful in learning basic sign. Some features are paid, but the free parts were enough for me to a long time. I'm interested in purchasing some of their other apps, but it recently started showing an error where the videos normally play for some of the entries. Like, a LOT of them. Looked to see if there was an update and I have the mode recent version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't say it's free when it isn't...
While the app is technically freely, the in-app purchase request is so constant that it is almost unusable if you don't actually make the purchase. Either make the app cost what you want people to pay or make it ACTUALLY free but don't do this nonsense.
Great app but... some countries are missing
I love this app but i noticed some countries are missing like Afghanistan and other countries need to added in that app because i want to learn in AFSL (Afghan Sign Language) just suggested
Excellent
I often tend to cross check with other apps and I find it is one you can depend on.
Not free
When you download this app they will give you a sign for numbers, but if you want to use anything else you have to buy it. Even the alphabet
Update?
It's almost a year since the last update! So any new updates in the works? So it can be fully optimized for iOS 9 and 10... hmm?
Videos not working.
Used to be perfect, but now most if the videos aren’t playing.
Thank you
This app makes it so much easier to find the sign you’re looking for. However, it freezes A LOT. I would happily pay a fee if it didn’t.
Misleading - not free
I've seen apps that depend too heavily on in-app purchases, but this one is the first I've seen that doesn't have ANY features unless you pay. Yet it's offered for "free" in the App Store. The developers would be better off just charging for the app and not deceiving people and wasting their time. I've deleted this app and won't use it again.
Great app.
I've had the app for a couple of years now and I find it to be very useful. High recommend this as the app for assisting someone in finding new signs.
Ehhh
Stopped working once I purchased app
This could be the best Sign app.
This could be the best sign language app, but whenever I tap on many things they ask me about in app purchases. So quit asking us for our money and then I could give this app 5 stars.
Good soup
My first ASL teacher had us use this and I find it incredibly helpful!
I couldn't get it to work
App just crashes when I try to launch it.
Wonderful App
I really like this app and it is really helpful. It has so many words, numbers and phrases that you can look up without having to buy them. The only complaint I would have is that you can only use the dictionary category the other categories require that you buy them.
Unclear UI, Crashes/Freezes
The 'Get' version of this app has good content if you can figure out how to use it. To see any of it, you must do the following: 1. Choose a language such as "American English" 2. Type in a letter or a word. For example, type the letter a' and you will see a list of all the words that start with 'a'. I doubt sone people will figure this out easily since many other language apps show you an alphabet rather than making you type in a letter of the alphabet to see all the words for that letter. Be aware that the app requires an Internet connection. You cannot download a dictionary to your device. That means there are a number of places on the planet where this app is not practical. I would be willing to pay for more content if the app didn't freeze so easily and sometimes crash. Specifically, the app freezes and cannot be used once a sign language video has played more than one time. Be aware that there is no way to control the playing of a video such as pause and play. (iOS 9, iPhone 6) I am skeptical that the developer will provide fixes because there has been no update to the app since 2014. If the developer does make updates, I would like to see the user's primary language matched with the sign language the user is learning. For example, English text in the list with Romanian as the sign language. --
Great- but FIX
This is one of the best apps I've used in forever, only one problem... It needs to be fixed! Whenever I try to go back from just seeing a sign, it freezes up and "lags" my phone. I have to double click and remove it from the background apps just to get it to work again. Also- in the "background," it says "Spread The Sign copy" why does it say "copy?" It does this on my old iPhone 5s and my new iPhone 6s. And no- I have not t stored my 6s from the backup of my 5s so it is not because of that. But like I said- great app!
