Excellent
I had used the free version on OSX, using it to view both x-rays and MRI's. It does a fantastic job and I am using it now to archive all of my radiology data. This iPad app allows all of that data to be portable and viewable with doctors.
OsiriX HD
The software no longer functions at all! It worked great for 7 years, used by me and 3 ENT partners to be able to view Dicom CT’s on our IPads in the operating room for our sinus surgery cases. However, since about 3/1/2024, none of us can transfer images to our IPads, even though we all have separate active subscriptions through the Apple Store. The app says “no active subscription” , though all subscriptions are paid. Also, no support is available to fix the problem or cancel the subscription.

Very much appreciate the recent update and the new features. Happily subscribed to support the app. Would still really appreciate at least a “flip image” option, as incoming images are often not oriented correctly.

As someone who is very pro-active in her own healthcare needs I was jubilant when I found this program. I had been searching for years for a way to view my MRI's on my home (macintosh) computer and nothing worked. This not only works on my iPad and iPhone and my computer. FINALLY I could go over my MRI with my neurologist and ask questions while viewing them together. If you are someone who cares about your own health get copies of ALL tests so you have your own copy (this is just good practice). Love this app :)
Paid for app, now it wants Subscription $10/mo
Paid for this app a butch of $$$ Its an ipad app so does not do much... Now it wants to get $10/mo subscription... such a disappointment. Is there any way to get my money that i paid for this app back?
Fine Work
Pretty amazing work by the programmers of this app. I have tried many apps to query and view dicom files and this is the best by far. It works perfectly with dcm4chee, and is blazing fast using the wado protocol. Doesn't even need a static ip. Totally worth the money.
Kostet und ist voller Bugs
Kann ich nur von abraten. Seitdem die Entwickler meinen, die App wäre 10€/Monat wert, gibt es nur noch Bugs. Beim Dicom-Laden über das Netzwerk treten ständig Dicom-Fehler und -Abbrüche auf (und nein: der Server ist richtig konfiguriert, andere Dicom-Apps funktionieren...). Beim Srollen durch Bildstacks werden einzelne Schichten nicht angezeigt. Diese App gehört eigentlich in die Tonne und lebt nur deshalb noch, weil zugegebenermaßen die Alternativen ziemlich rar sind.

Good enough, with me in control of the program and after many attempts to get hardware removed because of pain & to be able to guide a surgeon through time well enough for him to realize the plates & screws in my back (L5 - S1) where loose and caused unnecessary pain. It gave the surgeon a history rather than a surgeon saying "we need to send you to get some X-Rays, CT's or MRI's," then looking at one set of pictures and in ignorance saying "I don't see anything wrong that would cause you (me) any pain". I made a $29.99 investment, copied my X-Ray's, CT's & MRI's from my home computer to my iPad and went to see a referred surgeon. Best move I've made in a long time. Thanks to this app I live in far less pain, take far less meds and have a more productive and healthier life. Im only 2 weeks post-op at the time of this review. Thanks to those that developed this program / app.
Useless if you don’t pay for the app
… and the app it’s just way too expensive for someone who just wants to browse some x-rays maybe once or twice and then not use it again. I tried to open some files that I got from my radiologist that worked on the version of this app that was on the CD on my Macintosh, but when I tried to open the same files on my iPhone, it was really restrictive Ffirst It wouldn’t even let me pull them over and then when I kind of find a tricky way to bring them over it wouldn’t let me open them up at all so there’s no way to view an image unless you pay.
Please fix! ASAP!
Just upgraded to iOS 8 - image display is skewed to the left side and incompletely visualized. Image scroll controls are not accessible any more. Was working fine before the upgrade. Please fix ASAP! Thank, great product otherwise.
Version 5.0 :-( – sehr enttäuschend
Bis Version 4.4.7 der beste verfügbare mobile DICOM-Viewer. Positiv: Version 5 fügt viele neue Funktionen hinzu. Aber! Negativ: Mit Version 5 wird stillschweigend auf ein monatliches Abo (positiv: das erste Jahr ist dabei kostenlos) umgestellt. Das ist legitim, Softwarentwicklung kostet Arbeit und Geld. Derartige Umstellungen gehören aber zwingend und möglichst prominent in die Update-Beschreibung. Die neuen In-App-Purchases wurden auch im App Store nicht aktualisiert; ebenso die verfügbaren Sprachen. Die App läuft nur noch Englisch. In den Einstellungen lassen sich zwar weiterhin Deutsch, Französisch, Italienisch, Japanisch und Portugiesisch als alternative Sprache auswählen, jedoch ohne Effekt. Beim Versuch ein Preset für die Archivabfrage anzulegen stürzt die App zuverlässig beim Speichern des Presets ab. Insgesamt sehr enttäuschendes Update einer ansonsten großartigen App. Ich hoffe, da wird schnell nachgebessert.

Terrible Subscription Model
There is no subscription model for the casual non-medical user. 120$ per year for an app such that the user can look at various image sets once or twice a year in comparison to other image sets (as big as 10k images per date)… this is an outrageous cost model. Please come up with something better - a reasonable alternative. And allowing the user to load only a handful of images without subscription is extremely impractical from a use case perspective other than “what does this app do”.
Pretty useful
Overall, but would benefit from a way to take a picture of a radiograph without patient information and transfer to photo area. There used to be a button for this but it disappeared in updates. Otherwise a nice functional way to access the pacs system remotely and great for teaching
It works, but less capable than free competitors.
I bought this app based on some stellar reviews posted online... Well, the most I can say is that it works, and is better than some of the abandonware DCIOM competitors or those who rely on you uploading your data to their servers, but it is non-intuitive and very limited in features. More one of those complacent offerings of someone who coasts by based on a reputation. If you need something way better, runs locally, and and supports all hardware devices, check out IMAIOS DICOM Viewer. Not only is it way more capable, it’s also free.

Osirix HD auf meinem iPad und iPhone eröffnet mir im (Ruf-)Dienst unter 3G ungeahnte Freiräume. Leider habe ich es noch nicht geschafft, CT-Serien (aktuelle Serie und Voruntersuchung) auf dem Bildschirm nebeneinander darzustellen, was einen Befundvergleich oder eine Verlaufskontrolle sehr vereinfachen würde. Aber angesichts des kleinen Geldes, daß diese App gekostet hat, will ich jetzt nicht weiter über eine solche Petitesse meckern. Kurz: bin zufrieden!

Good, but urgently need annotations!
I would really use this app seriously if I could see fields like 'series description' and 'comments' in both the database and the image views. Also the image view needs the pulse sequence, exam no, date, TE/TR/FA/IR/rBW/FOV...or as for the Mac version, customizable DICOM fields. On the iPad there is plenty of space for 10-20 optional DICOM fields in the image view w/o cluttering it....please add this so one can know what is what and how the images were acquired. In the database view, again, please let us select the MR images (in different series) by series desc + comments so that the right series can be selected without random guessing. I find this should be priority over more advanced image processing features, but it would also be nice to be able to lock slice scrolling when viewing two series side by side.

Though good software for DICOM file reading.not able to MPR reconstruction and 3D views on my iPad Pro 2018,little disappointed 😟
Some issues, but overall worthwhile
I like osirix on my mac. This viewing version ap has some user interface issues. The controls are not intuitive. I've used a half dozen different imaging systems in my career and this ap has been the most difficult to master. Mosy annoying problem is when scrolling through MRI slices the scroll feature can become locked and starts to rapidly cycle through series. Very touchy control bar makes it easy to accidently skip through slices. That being said it's handy for showing patients things in the exam room and the price is extremely reasonable for what you get.

Sleek and effective, with a nice interface. Could have more functionality, hopefully in future updates.

I recently bought your app paid 30$, after several updates you made it useless. Shame to you and thanks to Horos app team they exist.
Great app for laypeople
Handy to have when consulting with docs. Also a good learning tool for med courses to allow students to see medical images easily.
Terrible Viewer Controls and Weak Query. I wish there were other options for DICOM view for my iPad
Viewer controls making this almost worthless: A) There are two near-identical arrow buttons on either side of a long bar. The round "arrow" buttons furthest out play the images as a movie. B) Next 'in' from either side is a TINY, almost IDENTICAL oval button ALSO with an arrow in it. This button is BROKEN and unpredictable in function: this one button DESTROYS the value of the program. Left one moves back in the series of exposures, but NOT predictably. If you tap it, it may not go to the prior, it may go 'back' one, or it just may go back multiple exposures, or what the heck, what about right back to the first one!? If you hold it, it will utterly unpredictably scroll back. The right-hand button is equally unpredictable: advance one, none, random, or briefly show the last one before looping back to the first. AAAAAAAArrrgh!!! C) Unlike the rest of the touch-screen world, using ONE finger in the viewer ALWAYS alters the brightness/contrast, requiring constantly resetting the brightness/contrast. TWO fingers MUST be used to manipulate/rotate/size the image. There is NO gesture to just swipe to see the prior or next image; incredibly frustrating! A toggle/radio button to turn on/off bright/contrast control and switch to a swipe-advance to the proximate exposure would make the program fixed and worth $50US. D) The 'bar', like a video bar, is not intuitive. Three exposures? The last one is only viewable if the control bar is moved utterly to the right. To waste all this control space with the bar instead of bigger buttons or extra buttons for single-advance to the next or prior exposure is ill-planned. E) Right-hand buttons SHOULD look like a normal "play" arrow [ > ], then "advance while held but pause when not" like this [ ||> ], and another BIG button for single advance [>1X], OR have a mode that changes the button, so an MRI, CT, or US can have the play, pause-play, single buttons, and Xrays can have just forward and back one exposure. F) Query and Retrieve is BAD and near-useless. The Patient and ClientID has to be EXACT (no partial name) or it finds either nothing or everything. Spaces type empty, but the query system may require ^ spaces, ruining the query function. I search for anything starting with "C": no results. Search for "C*": nothing. Search for the full patient name but forget to use ^for^spaces^like^this: nothing. G)My equipment: iPad. (QXServer) Short version: great potential ruined by poor search, TERRIBLE viewer controls.
Needs MPR
Needs more ways to manipulate images. As a vascular surgeon, it would be helpful to have 3d mpr at the least, but who knows if the iOS hardware is capable.

Fantastic! The only thing lacking is the ability to control cine speeds for cardiac studies. If it could play cardiac cine at 30 fps then I would give 5 stars!
This version needs work
I've used OsiriX HD for a number of years without issue. Since the last update, it won't copy over files from my Mac. I hope the developers will fix this quickly bug.
Crashes unexpectedly
Great product if you could get it to be more stable it would get 5 stars. Very frustrating to have to relaunch the app constantly. It was this unstable on a new iPad dedicated solely to this use and nothing else. They have some serious conflicts to work out. It would also be nice to have a switch/button to toggle off image brightness/contrast. Too easy to have one of two fingers lift up and then it takes forever to reset it. You could also just have a reset button in the corner which would restore image to original settings with one push.
Neurologist
This is outstanding software which has now improved to very functional level both as a server product and for patient demonstration on the iPad.
Apparently get to buy what you bought again
They seem to have moved to a subscription model so if you bought the features a while back, you get to pay for them all over again.

I like the app. I’ve used it for some time now, however, the ultrasound studies that I transfer to the iPad from the computer version of Osirix are out of order. On the computer I can go to sort them by time etc, but I cannot find any way to order the images so that they are in order! Making this very frustrating and difficult to utilize properly.
Needs improvement
Crashes a lot. Good application but needs improvements for justifying the price. Not opening after update for retina graphics for new ipad.

The previous versions crashed often. This version crashes as soon as it is launched. We use a cannon digital radiology system and server. I have to close the program down before trying to load images.
$50 gone, doesn’t work
previously paid $50 for this app, and since a recent update it switched to subscription, doesn’t allow restore purchase, wiped my database, and doesn’t let me add new images. takeaway: don’t trust this company

Glitchy
Works well until it doesn't. Crashes are common. The viewer interface is tricky to navigate even once you are familiar with it. I would expect something more intuitive in the viewer controls. This should be a priority in future versions.

I am now unable to manually adjust the window level on scans downloaded. Can this be rectified please?!?!?!
Osirix HD is fab
It works great on the iPad. Have compared it to reading routine MSK mri off my workstation and I think it's right up there. I wish there were ways to directly import .rar (which a lot of people seem to use) instead of just .zip. Occasional crashes are also a bit of a bother. But overall, don't think any others even begin to compare.
When It Works
When it works it's great but that was only once! I installed, connected to our PACS server, downloaded one study and viewed. Awesome. Went to download second study and as soon as I hit retrieve, the program closed. It would not reopen no matter what. Even restarted iPad. Uninstalled it, reinstalled, and was able to get back into the program. Connected back to our PACS server, queried, and as soon I clicked retrieve study, it closed and once again will not reopen. Please fix! $30 wasted right now.
