Don’t plan a trip without touringplans

This app is part of a broader touring plans service. I subscribed to it for my first trip 12 years ago and have used it faithfully on every Disney World trip since. You still have to make some choices when planning but this will tell what’s good. Really, everyone using this app is ahead of those that don’t.

This app is vintage. Developer must me laughing out there, that people keep dropping $30 on something that was developed 10 years ago. Found it to be pretty much worthless during my visit. Disney app does all the same but free and 1000 times better

Not as good as it used to be

I have used this app for years. It was a useful tool in planning my vacations. I just renewed and wish I hadn’t. The app is clunky, saves incorrect information (like start date and end date of vacation), gives option to attend parties but then freezes up and does nothing with that info. I get the feeling that no one cares behind the curtain anymore. This used to be a fun app with almost a cult following. Do not recommend and won’t renew again unless issues are addressed. 2 stars because it has been the most reliable crowd predictor. We shall see.

Very helpful app

I used the app on our last Disney trip and it worked like a charm. I really like that you can set it to minimize walking, wait times, or balance the two. It was just a really convenient way to plan out each day in advance and it helped us get everything done that we wanted to without a bunch of backtracking and wasting time deciding what to do next. Planning another trip in a couple of months and will definitely be using the app again. Update 9/26/2025: Just finished another trip to Disneyworld using the app. Lines remains a useful tool for laying out a plan, but when 4 out of the first 6 rides you have planned are broken down, everything kind of goes out the window for the rest of the day. Wait times on the app are generally very close to what I saw posted, but the app does NOT let you know of the ride is closed. Before you head all the way across the park definitely check the Disney app for that info.

I’ve used this app for about a dozen trips and can’t rave enough about it and the time it’s saved me in line. “Chat” feature of app has incredible tips you won’t see elsewhere that make trips better. Phenomenal customer service too if a subscriber has any issues or questions. Highly recommend!

Lots of planning info, not enough user participation

I used this app years and ago and it was so helpful. Not only was it filled with good planning information, but it was extremely dynamic with user participation, giving real-time knowledge about accurate wait times within the parks. So after a 4-5 year break, I decided to try it again. Unfortunately, the app just doesn't have enough user participation to make it as good as it once was. The price of the app has gone up significantly too, so maybe that's why fewer people are utilizing Lines. It makes me sad because the app really was amazing before. The newer version is easy to use and still filled with lots of good info and park plans (which can be extremely helpful for WDW first timers or people who love having a plan.) However, I miss the real time crowd level monitors and participating with lots of other users to find the lowest wait times at WDW. Maybe if they lowered the price more people would come back and make Lines as awesome as it once was!

Great, but where is the map???!!

I love playing out different scenarios and getting the optimizations. But the ESSENTIAL feature IMO, of seeing the resulting map for the plan is not available! Need better interface

This app is great when it works, but more often than not saved meals, breaks, and/or modifications don’t make it to your daily plan. Optimization can take anywhere from a few seconds or not upload at all. Marking anything as completed will either stay on your daily plan or maybe it will be marked completed; it’s just depends. The interface needs a massive overhaul, but if you’re super patience, and a bit of Disney Magic, it will work.

Custom touring plans & Wait Times

I love being able to select the experiences we want to do and getting help creating a plan for the day. I did this before our trip and it helped to choose which multi pass rides to select. Then you can add lightning lane reservations and then optimize throughout the day. I also appreciate having access to the wait times. They are more accurate than Disney posted wait times.

Never correct

The app is a good idea but the wait times are always wrong. Every time I used it the parks estimated wait times were actually correct. No longer needed

I swore by this app 7 years ago. In our trip this past week over Spring Break / Easter week (i.e., peak crowds), it wasn’t needed and it didn’t work as expected when trying to use with genie plus and individual lightning lanes. 1. It was difficult to add in and change details on genie plus return times, individual lightning lane, and virtual queues. I never really figured this out so it made my plan for the day useless. 2. The plans didn’t include any real strategy for genie plus, individual lightning lanes, or virtual queues. I had to look elsewhere for detail on how to approach these for my family. I would have expected the plans would tell you exactly what to do so you could be ready at 7am to book each of these. 3. The best part of touring plans is the detail on the attractions and dining. This is all freely accessible on the website and does not connect into the app. 4. The Disney My Experience app worked really well and effectively replaces the need for Touring Plans Lines.

Waste of money now

The last time I went to Disney, I loved planning with this app. Now it is so buggy it’s useless. After entering one plan for MK, that plan comes up for every other plan I attempt. I’ve deleted and added back and manually tried to adjust plans with the steps showing up until I save, then the MK steps show up every time. I used to like being able to map the attractions across the park paths, but this has only been frustrating this time. The crowd calendar times don’t match other crowd calendars. Simply useless now. Good software but you need to update crowd calendar

I have used this software multiple times with generally good luck at Disneyland. However this is my second time using it at Disney World in mid to late January and early February and the crowd calendar and wait times are simply inaccurate. It is just so much busier than you are listing and the wait times are too low. We have arrived at exactly the time our plan says only to face wait times double what is on the plan, even first thing in the morning. This throws the whole plan out and you have to skip a number of things. The crowds are way heavier than you are predicting. I appreciate this software and wouldn’t go to Disney without a plan but it needs to be updated.

Good, not excellent

I enjoyed using the app to make my personalized plans for each day of our trip. Unfortunately the app grossly underestimated the lines (the app said to expect an 8 minute wait when in reality it was more like 30-40 minutes). As a result we had to pare down our plans significantly. I liked the little maps that were at the top of the page when we printed off our plans. That was very helpful.

Clunky and slow

My review refers to the app itself rather than the quality of information presented. It's very slow, it's very clunky with a very poor and outdated user interface. For the price, I expected something a lot more performant. It's very tedious to use when creating your own plans. I suppose it's just about useable as purely a reference, but try to customise the plans and you're in for a long frustrating time.

★★★★★ United States · v2.0.24 · 18 Dec 2024

Great app, but could really use an Apple Watch App too

This app is great for minimizing time in line at Disney World. They’re very up front that to access all information you’ll need a subscription to TouringPlans.com. The annual fee is less than a quick service meal at Disney World, how much is your time in line worth? An optimized touring plan helps you minimize that time in line. The planning functions of this app tie into the website, but the intent of this app is more for the touring plan built on touring plans.com. I don’t agree at all with the critiques that wait times are off-the predicted wait times were never more than 4 minutes off (unless the ride broke which is not TP’s fault). I think an Apple Watch app will pay huge benefits. It will allow quick access to answer “where was I going next?” and to allow users to submit wait times, etc. that’s really the only recommendation I have for improving this great app.

The best (and ugliest) WDW lines app

Unlike most lines apps that just regurgitate Disney’s own data, this app from the touring plans people (Unofficial Guide) uses years of statistical data along with actual user input to give the best waiting time estimates. The personalized touring plans are also very useful. But Look, I know they say the app is ugly on purpose so that it uses less data, and that’s true. But you can still design a UI that is light on data usage while being aesthetically pleasing. It’s seriously time for a redesign, guys

Has the potential to be great!

This app does work and will save you a lot of time with a subscription to touring plans. This said I have noticed a lot of user issues. Most notably it relies on honest user feedback for the information it gives you. People trying to 'beat the system' and reduce their own wait times constantly post that headliner attractions are closed when they are clearly open. This user abuse takes away any useful information and leaves you guessing.

This is a must!!

I know you are thinking how can something so cheap be worth it for planning an expensive vacation. Frankly, it is worth 10 times the money at least. I used this in Oct of 2017 for WDW. I planned for my family and for my in-laws to meet us at the parks for a few days. The planned worked perfectly! Used again Oct 2019 for WDW, for Universal in July of 2021, and now again July 2024 for WDW. Touring Plans makes it so you can see where one ride is to another, how long a ride or show is, and really line up your day. It shows you the expected crowd at the park which helps to choose which park to do. And it shows you a list of what is available to do in each park. There is more than you might think. You should check into each one. Some of the most surprising things are the ones you would otherwise walk by like Mickey’s Philharmagic in MK. Great show and especially for the afternoon when you need to recharge. Line up you day! It takes time to go through the pavilions in Epcot. Touring Plans tells you how long it will take you to walk from Norway to Canada. You need to think ahead if you want to eat in Italy after hanging out in France. Touring Plans helps you get that list down of things you want to do and plan them out so you actually do them. It helps you add in the hidden gems that without Touring Plans you would walk by. It gives you a plan so you know where you will be when your family will want to eat. You look into what is available in that area and know in advance what direction to go. No one wants to walk around more or wait for you to read off a bunch of different menus to them so they can all vote in 90* heat. You know what your family likes. You know what you like. Touring Plans helps you to make a trip filled with only your likes. This is a must.

I've tried using this app over the last week and while with some rides it's close to accurate for wait times, too often I've found it saying a wait is below 10 minutes while I'm standing in a queue posting 30+ minutes. Also it's annoying having to often go back to the start to get to your plans if you want to briefly check something else and the the park levels have been way under compared to what we actually experience on the ground. All in it gives a good idea of what's possible but isn't accurate enough to be realistic. Image only use I can see is as a rough guide and then check the parks own apps on the way around for real wait times.
