Great update!!!
The updated app is great, stable and with great new features. I love being able to customize my feed and read from other newspapers from other cities. Yes, ok you need a subscription now but I know I was getting news for free before when I should have been paying. I support news in Canada and I understand that there is a cost to creating it.
Horrible app.
This app is always days behind. No gazette business. Too bad we have no other English choice in montreal. Terrible app
Why Does The Gazette Still Disallow Commentary ? YOU’RE All WE’VE GOT ?
Overall a great paper but disallowing commentary puts the public at a major disadvantage and severely restricts public reaction and momentum when change or at least awareness are most important.
I’m having problems with my gazette app !
My app both on my iPad and iPhone is not updating to the latest stories of the Montreal GAZETTE! I find this is really annoying since I can’t reach anyone or technical support! Can you help me people from the Montreal GAZETTE huh ?
Was way better before recent update.
The recent update has made the app very unusable for readers for the montreal gazette, before the recent update it was very easy to access and simple to view. Would love to bring back the old version. Love this newspaper especially being an anglo quebecer, but now it’s very difficult to read.
Looking good so far!
I subscribed to the digital version of the cassette recently, because I want to support excellent local journalists. i'm also allowing ads in order to support them. So far the digital interface is clean and simple, showing latest articles matching what I just saw in a browser. I also like the option in settings to allow notifications for breaking news. If the app disappoints in a couple of weeks, I'll have to change this review, but right now I don't see what everyone else is complaining about. Go, Gazette!
Worst newspaper app
I’ve got half a dozen newspaper subscriptions and apps. They all work: NYT, G & M, JdeM, La Presse, even The Suburban. Only the Gazette app is routinely not updating, forcing me to sign in even though I’m subscribed, and otherwise annoying. If it keeps up I’ll cancel my subscription which I truly want to avoid doing.
Great
One of the best-designed news apps. I've been having problems with the Facebook interface lately, however.
Disappointed
The news is good but the lack of basic functionality such as the inability to look up or copy words, or expand an image, make for an incomplete news experience.
Giant leap into the past
I thought the Gazette was really onto something special with their beautiful tablet edition. It made the most of my iPad capabilities with multimedia displays, stunning graphics and pictures, and a full nightly read of the news. Now they're going back to the original plain, ugly design. Every story looks the same. It's about as creative as a typewriter. Sorry to see it go. But there are a few improvements: the news is updated more often, and there are actual "briefs" of real current events going on in Montreal, as opposed to all the "context" stories that are crowding out any local news in the daily paper.
The free truth
Well, as someone who has never set foot in Quebec, this app is truly a satisfying experience. I get to empathize with the bad news, rejoice with the good news and learn more about the culture- the good, the bad and the ugly. God bless Canada. - a satisfied customer from India.
New app is terrible
App tells me every day to sign in, and once in a while tells me I have no account. I have also not received the Saturday paper edition 4 weeks in a row. Very frustrating.
It just stopped responding
The app has been slow and is not the sleekest, but usually served to get updates on local News. Since last Thursday, when there was a tornado warning in Montreal, the app stopped showing current news. Every attempt to update by pulling down resulted in an error message. Did the non-existent tornado blow out the app's news feed? Frankly, this is ridiculous. I'll look for another English news source that I can read. Or maybe I'll read a French newspaper! Sorry to report that your app is not working and is not useful to me in that situation. Shame.
Impressive!
Having used the Globe and Mail app for all my Canadian news on the go I wasn't sure how the Gazette would compare, but it seems my concerns were unnecessary. This app is a killer, with good layout, an easy interface and even the ability to leave and read comments on each story! Pretty great for a new app. Easy five stars.

Postmedia, fix your apps. It’s been a month.
It was fine before. Now haven’t been able to access the app for a month… Postmedia should have better customer service and fix my account without having email back and forth or call me back. I don’t blame the gazette, they’re at the mercy of Postmedia who clearly doesn’t care about local readers by allowing this issue to drag on for a MONTH! What a joke!!
Very unaware
The writers of the app force you into their behavioral pattern. You can't share an article via your choice of app. Forces you to use social media. Try to give feedback and it forces you to use iPhone mail app even if you don't have it setup. This app does not let you interact on open terms...very old school.
Registration and No Paper
I registered and then could not read the newspaper. Any suggestion?
It doesn’t work
It downloads old stories with an old format. Looks much different ( and much worse) than what is seen by accessing paper by web browser. Complaints have been acknowledged but unanswered otherwise. The Montreal Gazette: Yesterday’s news tomorrow
Waisted opportunity
Our family has been Gazette readers for over 50 years, as our paper subscription ended a few years ago, this app was our last attempt to connect with Gazette writers once again. Shame no effort was given to modernize. Good luck with the future if this is all we can offer.
Unable to close the ads
It plays an ad when you open the app, it has the close button on the top right, but guess what, even after you watch the full ad, you still can't close it, it simply stays there...
