für Abonnenten gut, für Einzelkäufer nur bedingt
Im Prinzip eine recht gute App. Ich habe momentan kein aktives Abo mehr, weil ich von Windows auf iOS umgestiegen bin. Die Vorschau auf das Titelblatt und Inhaltsverzeichnis ist völlig unbrauchbar, weil viel zu klein um sich eventuell zum Kauf eines Einzelhefts zu entscheiden zu können(iPhone 16 Pro max). Also bleibt doch nur das Blättern im Zeitungskiosk... Schade eigentlich.

Gute Präsentation, lange Wartezeiten
Die c’t-App präsentiert die Magazine in einem schönen, lesbaren Format für Smartphones, iPads und Macs. Es gibt zwei verschiedene Ansichten (HTML und PDF), mit denen sich der Inhalt je nach Gerät anpassen lässt. Darüber hinaus bietet die App eine Notizen-Funktion, mit deren Hilfe man sich wichtige Stellen markieren und weiteren Text kommentieren kann. Was mir nicht so gut gefällt, ist, dass ich nach jedem App-Neustart bis zu einer Minute warten muss, bis die App fertig „initialisiert“ ist. Zudem gibt es eine zweite Ladepause, nachdem man eine c’t-Ausgabe geöffnet hat. Das ist etwas ärgerlich, vor allem, wenn man morgens manchmal weniger Zeit hat.

… in einer komfortablen App. So sehr ich die Papierversion liebe, bei schwachem Licht und unterwegs ist die App perfekt.

Das Layout in HTML Ansicht auf iPhone bei Ausgaben die runtergeladen worden sieht auf einmal grauenhaft aus. Please fix!
Dark mode?
Beim Lesen am Abend oder in dunklen Umgebungen vermisse ich seit längerem einen Modus mit heller Schrift auf dunklem Hintergrund. Momentan behelfe ich mir notdürftig mit der iOS Funktion "smart invert". Diese funktioniert allerdings nur halbwegs sinnvoll und wenn night shift nicht aktiv ist. Wann werden wir mit einem nativen Lesemodus für dunkle Umgebungen rechnen können?
Nette App mit Schwächen, die seit Jahren bestehen
Toll, dass ich in der App alle c‘t Magazine lesen kann. Aber warum kommt die App immer mit der Startseite aus dem Hintergrund und blockiert jede Interaktion, bis der Shop aktualisiert wurde? Ich möchte doch nur da weiterlesen, wo ich vor dem Umsteigen in der Bahn aufhörte🤷♂️ Warum kann ich nicht auf einen Rutsch alle gelesenen Hefte vom lokalen Cache löschen und so Speicher freigeben? Das sind zwei Beispiele für Funktionen, die ich schon vor Jahren anfragte ….
Neues Handy, Format kaputt
Die html Darstellung passt nicht mehr. Hatte ich vor vielen Jahren schon mal. Man konnte das irgendwie initialisieren war der Tipp von der Hotline. Ich weiß aber nicht mehr wie. Dachte der Bug wäre vielleicht langsam gefixt?!? Funktioniert mittlerweile die offline Nutzung?
Gutes Magazin, gute App
Ich bin schon lange c‘t Leser. Sehr gut aufgebaute App, v.a. SINNVOLL, wenn man Artikel sucht. Die digitale Form ist absolut praktisch, soviel Hefte kann man nicht aufbewahren. Macht einfach Spass zu lesen.
Unglaublich
Ich habe kürzlich von einer älteren auf die neue Version ge-updated und bin total schockiert. Nicht nur, daß das Update alle Daten erneut von Heises Server geladen hat (= 2 Stunden), der Download des neuesten Heftes dauerte ewig, die PDF Ansicht zeigt im Portrait-Modus nicht die volle Seite an, man kann auch nicht herauszoomen um dies zu erreichen. Der Landscape-Modus zeigt nur einen Ausschnitt der Seite an, die so nützliche Doppelseiten-Ansicht scheint es nicht mehr zu geben — dieses Update war ein voller Reinfall. Ich überlege mein Abo auf ein PDF Abo umzustellen und in Zukunft c’t dann auf Goodreader zu lesen

…on iPhone. There’s one Feat I really miss: please enable the full res Preview for the ‚ content‘ (Inhalt) Page, as the reduced content Preview is really insufficient / annoying.
Wie wär’s mit einer Volltextsuche in den einzelnen Artikeln
Die Suchergebnisse im Browser markiert ? Entweder ich finde sie nicht oder aber die gibt es tatsächlich nicht? Auch eine Textmarker Funktion wäre hilfreich
Noch immer nicht perfekt
Die App hat immer noch ein paar Macken, allem voran die Suchfunktion. Wenn man mit Google bei heise.de sucht, bekommt man bessere Ergebnisse. Außerdem wird die aktuelle Leseposition nicht synchronisiert. Mit der App für das optionale Offline-Heftarchiv wird überhaupt nichts synchronisiert. Seit ich ein 13“ iPad besitze, nutze ich gerne den PDF-Lesemodus. Dabei ist mir aufgefallen, dass die Auflösung der Grafiken sehr bescheiden ist. In der HTML-Version ist sie deutlich besser und auch in den PDF-Heften.

Fehler beim Laden ist das einzige was bei dieser App funktioniert Schade eigentlich

Mit einem grossen, hochauflösenden Tablet ist de App hervorragend!
Inkonsistent
Die App hält sich nicht an Einstellungen des Betriebssystems, beispielsweise der Schriftgröße. Auch ein modernes Design und einen „echten“ Lesemodus darf man missen, alle Ausgaben sind und bleiben PDF - zum Lesen auf einem Mobilgerät ungeeignet. Der Inhalt meiner letzten Abo-Ausgabe, 27.06.2025, erinnert mich auch wieder daran, warum ich das Abo gekündigt habe. Einerseits wird sich über KI und dem Missbrauch von „Open Source“ aufgeregt, andererseits wird auf Apple herumgehackt, weil es keine KI-Neuerungen auf den Markt bringt und es wurde nicht einmal versucht, eine quelloffene Rezepte-App zu finden. Von Barrierefreiheit sprechen wir gar nicht erst, es existieren wohl keine Barrieren und keine Menschen mit Behinderungen.
iOS 26 update nötig
Es wird Zeit für ein Update, ich kann die c‘t nicht mehr hochkant wie eine normale Zeitschrift lesen. Die App wechselt in den Fenstermodus und bleibt horizontal. Ich lese die c‘t auf einem iPad Pro, keine Ahnung wie sich das auf dem iPhone verhält. P.S.: Ich hab iPadOS 26 mittlerweile davon überzeugt in den Hochkantmodus zu gehen. Keineswegs intuitiv, das Fenster hat sich aktiv dagegen gewehrt aufgezogen zu werden, irgendwann hat es nachgegeben. Erst dann ging es über den grünen Button in den Vollbildmodus.
Aktualität?
Das neue Heft lag gestern in Papierform im Briefkasten. In der App noch keine Spur. Wird da wirklich bis zum Freitag gewartet, wenn das Heft Mittwochs zugestellt wird?
Crash without any chance to retrieve purchased issues
After installing the app it crashes every single time when started. With over 10 purchased issues it is frustrating not to have any access to the content that I have paid for. Reinstalling the app does not bring any relief and e-mails to the support team remain unanswered. For a computer magazine that is often very critical with the products and service provided by other companies in the IT business this is very disappointing. I give the app a one because I simply can’t get it to work.
Good App
Pretty good app as far as magazine apps go. The download of issues within the app could be faster. The c‘t magazine is top notch - if I didn’t speak German already I‘d have to learn it just to be able to read it.
Für eine Technik Zeitung ziemlich blamabel
Die ct selbst ist immer noch hervorragend. Um so mehr frage ich mich, wieso die App seit Jahren nicht wirklich gut wird. Die Steuerung ist hakelig, die Downloads lahm, und jedes Update von iOS bringt neue Probleme bis zum kompletten Ausfall. Das muss doch irgendwie mal besser werden.

New Version crashes
I really looked forward to this new version, but after the update, all my downloaded editions were gone. Why would an app update also delete all the downloaded magazines? Aren't they in a separate directory? With the old version it took forever just to download 1 issue. After going to settings and checking my subscription info, which was still present, I clicked on confirm subscription. It asked me for my apple ID twice?? Then it crashed. Have not been able to start the app since, even after reboots and the 10 sec hard reset. App useless right now and I was 3 issues behind, on the road for the next few days and nothing to read. Very disappointing. Please fix this soon!!! Miss my CT's
Warning about crash on iOS 8.1
The new update crashes all the time on an iPad Air with iOS 8.1. Please check. Don't know about previous versions of iOS.
Terrible app lacking support
One of the worst probably even the worst app I use. Downloads almost never succeed, slow even on the fastest hardware. Bugs never gets fixed,
C't and others
I really enjoy the ability to read c't via my mac but I really would like it the company would focus a bit on usability across products. I am not very happy to install for each magazin a different app. Why can't there by an app that enables me to read at least Xi and CT? Maybe this is something that could be considered. There will be some cost saving to maintain only one app vs x-timens. :)
Das beste Computermagazin!
Ich bin seit vielen Jahren c´t-Abonnent. Die Qualität des Magazins ist konkurrenzlos gut. Die aktuelle App ist durchdacht, funktioniert 1a und macht Freude, das Magazin auch auf iPad und Smartphone zu lesen. Dafür gibt´s von mir 5 Sterne!

Huge improvement
I had no issues upgrading to this version. Yes, all former downloads are gone but I was so surprised how much faster the download works. I am here in China and usually it took me hours to download one issue. This morning it took me not even 15min to get it. I like the whole new layout and everything. It's really a huge improvement.

Schlechte Benutzerführung
Benutzerführung von Unix Entwicklern - so fühlt sich das an. Die App wurde seid Jahren nicht weiterentwickelt. Man fragt sich warum c‘t nicht einfach iBook oder Kindle unterstützt Content natürlich super wie immer
App crasht unter iPadOS 18.1 - jetzt gefixt
Seit Jahren mein treuer Begleiter zum digitalen Lesen der Heise-Magazine. Ich war immer sehr zufrieden - bis jetzt: Auf einem neuen iPad mini muss ich mich logischerweise neu anmelden. Die App stürzt reproduzierbar nach Eingabe von User & Passwort ab. Immer. Mit der sehr ähnlichen (umgebrandeten) iX-App hat es nach x Versuchen funktioniert. Bitte schnell fixen, ein PDF im Browser ist nur eine Notlösung. Leser-Support hat bisher nicht reagiert. P.S.: Danke für das schnelle Bugfix! Nun wieder 5 Sterne, weil die App das c‘t-Lesen zum Spass macht.
Worst App ever!

Improved usability
A great improvement in usability - reading is much more convenient now, and the update makes the content more accessible on the iPad mini as well, as there is no more need to constantly zoom in and out for reading (please update the Mac&i app as well…). It may not be as fancy and playful as some other digital magazines, but it does its job perfectly well if all you want is to read the magazine properly on the iPad. Last think missing now is a subscription option that makes subscribing a bit cheaper than buying individual editions.
Disappointing app from an IT veteran
The good: you can read c't with it. The bad: - no filtering functions (show all issues, downloaded, etc) - very very sloppy interface, lags seconds for turns - lags seconds for any action in the main menu - cant't tell if a magazine has loaded every page is pixelated until fully loaded about 10 seconds for each page turn - no options of any sort I am deleting this and will not be able to read the magazine, it's a shame. Why they did not go with a proven app (and I read many a magazines on my iPad) is a mystery. Tom
Beim Laden der Inhalte ist ein Fehler aufgetreten
App ist immer noch instabil und ohne Newsstand Integration, aber wenigstens nutzbar. Größtes Ärgernis: im Querformat hindert ein schwarzer Balken (Darstellungsfehler) auf der Rechten Seite massiv die Sicht. Somit ist nur das Hochformat halbwegs nutzbar.
Ct ist die beste Computerzeitschrift
Seit über 10 Jahren lese ich die ct. Anfangs hatte ich ein Abo. Die Heftartikel sind immer sehr umfangreich und tiefgründig. Nicht alle Artikel interessieren mich. Besonders aber alles über Windows, Sicherheit, Desinfect, ctnot… Hin und wieder kaufe ich Hefte und Sonderhefte in der App. Alle Artikel sind lehrreich und zeugen von viel Insiderwissen. Die App selber ist ok und macht was sie soll. Für App und Inhalt jeweils 5 Sterne.

Kein Support für des neue iPad.
Super Alternative zum Auslandsabo
Endlich nicht mehr zwei Wochen auf die Lieferung des aktuellen Hefts warten zu müssen, ist toll. Aber wieso sind Links nicht anklickbar? Insbesondere www.ct.de/1234567 sollte klickbar sein. Ausserdem möchte ich Texte selektieren und kopieren können, um z.B. mit Google nach etwas zu suchen.
1.0.7 crashes on startup
While 1.0.5 is working just cool and also lets US AppStore customers purchase issues of c't magazine, 1.0.7 (after repeated) installs crashes and no interaction is possible - tested on iPad 2.
Buggy
It's great this app is now compatible with iPhone. Adaption to iPhone screen is been done very well. However app crashes every time I switch to app when it's in background.

… deutschsprachige Qualitätsmedien auf dem IT Markt finden sich kaum, die CT ist da eine glänzende Ausnahme, egal ob online oder offline…
Doesn't work on new iPad
I never was happy with this app as it has display bugs and reacts slowly and awkwardly. Now I wanted to see how it looks with the higher resolution on my new iPad. Alas, the app doesn't make it any further than the start screen. It gets stuck showing a gray and empty background. Very disappointing, c't.
Great App
First of all - if you are a new user this app works. It is really nicely done and great to use. If you updated from the older version you will have to delete it from all devices and re-install the app, otherwise it will crash. Your purchases seem to be lost as well, but it id not matter to me as a Plus subscriber. I seem to remember that this was mentioned in the description of the old version. It could have been noted in this one as well.... Other than the issues described - this deserves a much better rating!
App ist OK, aber upgrade Pfad ist kaputt
Sofern es sich um eine neu Installation handelt ist die App OK. Aber wehe dem der schon Zeitschrift gekauft hat - upgrade von einer älteren Version führt zum Absturz der App. Erst durch löschen und neu installieren ging alles wieder. Aber die vorherigen Exemplare waren natürlich weg.
New iPad and other issues
The app does work on the new iPad, but is incredibly slow. It seems the app is stuck on the initial grey screen, but does go forward after a while. Everything else does take quite a bit more time on the new iPad as well when compared to the iPad 2. The biggest issue I have that I cannot de-register my subscription on the iPad myself. Instead I have to start the app on the new iPad, email customer service with the transfer code, wait until they reset the account and then start it again. It would be much better if I could just de-register it on the old device the way Adobe does it with their codes.
