No longer usable
Update: The latest review fixed the problem!! Thanks to the devs! **** I used to love this app but after not opening it in awhile I tried to use it recently and it won’t play any sound clips. I can search and find words but when I click the play icon it spins like it’s loading then doesn’t do anything. iPhone 15, iOS 26.3.1 (a).
No longer working on iPhone
I loved this app for a long time, but a few months ago an update caused it to start working, and I haven't been able to use it since. iPhone 15 user, so it's definitely an app issue.

A pretty descent app, granted there are many pronunciation methods out there but this one is unique!
A great app, when it works
I love this app, but it seems to freeze constantly. 80% of the time I have to go to the website because the app freezes up. I’m lucky if I can get one look up before it freezes and if I paste something into the search or my phone autocorrects, forget it. Frozen. It’s a shame because it’s a great resource.

Location required
Another cash grab. You can’t listen unless you sign up, can’t sign up without giving your location under the guise of “we need to know your accent”. I’m not interested in recording so you don’t need my location. One’s location is not a def indicator of accent either. I live in a mid Atlantic city yet there are people from the south, the north, the Midwest, other countries and they all speak with their native accents yet they live here in my city. Bogus.
Good app
Crashes sometimes and doesn’t always have the Portugal Portuguese pronunciation. I’ve requested for a few words to be pronounced and haven’t heard a thing back

Useless: no audio
This app produces no audio on my iPad, nor my iPhone, which makes the app useless. The app's support link leads to a nonexistent page on the developers' website. (This is the link from the "App Support" button on the app's page in the Apple App Store.) In case the developers read this review: - I'm using Forvo Pronunciation version 4.2.2. No sound is produced when I click on the "Play" button for any word. - In contrast, the website at forvo.com works fine: every "Play" button produces audio. - My iPad Pro 12.9", 5th-generation, is running iPadOS 26.5. - My iPhone 15 is running iOS 26.5.
Waste of money
This app seems to be a terrible waste of money. Trying to record a requested phrase doesn’t seem to work, keeps saying pronunciation not recorded properly. Very sparse structure….
Great Content, Poor Functionality
I am a paid subscriber and adore its content. However, the app has terrible problems. On my iPhone I may only paste words, not type, and the app frequently freezes. Still, I can't live without it. Doesn’t work
I don’t know why but the basic play button on a pronunciation word doesn’t do anything. You press it, it goes around in circles and then stops. No sound. Surely this is the first thing that should be checked. I’m on iOS 26.4 iPhone 17 pro
Appears broken
Would like to use this app, but after signing in with my Apple Account, the screen goes white and there’s nothing you can do. Happens on both an iPhone 13 and an M1 iPadPro.

About a year ago Forvo stopped responding to the negative reviews. They had been saying an update was in the works — still nothing. However the website works well and does many of the things people are asking for in the app. Try it — forvo.com

Can I give it less than 1 star?
Downloaded app, attempted to sign up, says that the United States is not a valid country. Keeps glitching on the terms and conditions. Good thing it’s only $2.99. Good riddance.

No download feature
The whole concept of Forvo is great, but why does the app not offer a way of downloading an audio file of a pronunciation? Even the online website has such a feature. Why am I paying for fewer features than the web offers?
Very helpful
I am using this app to download audio to put in anki to help me learn Japanese. It’s been very helpful! I would highly recommend it. There’s already so many pronunciations on the app, but if a word or phrase you are looking for isn’t on there, you can request it. My requested audios are usually added within a few days.
Does this even work on iPad?
I am unable to get this to open. All I get is a blank page. I am not able find any settings or instructions either. Not at all user friendly.
Impossible access
The app is good (in persian) but after using it over three years, suddenly I can’t access to my account. Can you help me please, thanks.
Great reference
This app is great- I use it for Hebrew. A lot of the words are difficult if they don’t have vowel points to reference
Purchased but app is non responsive
Was setting up app and it froze. Eventually deleted app and downloaded again. Still frozen after signing in.

Using iOS 26, the app crashes frequently and will not accept recordings I’ve made using the app.

The system always crushes
Whenever I type in anything, anything, the system automatically crashes. And it repeated over a dozen times. I simply cannot do anything with this app!!!

Great app, great service. I hope users can save their inquiries and other users can find them and provide authentic pronunciation according to the languages.
