Torrey Pines
Good hike today 6.5 miles App used to be better with less clutter but overall really accurate.
Can’t bring up cycling any more.
All I get is walking. This happened through nothing I did.
The app I use every hike
Been using since 2013; 17,800 miles so far. Tested other apps but they lack the same level of data quality. My only “gripe” is that all new improvements are only for road bike users (not trail users), and no OpenStreetMap (or derivative)
Inconsistency
The distance tracking is extremely inconsistent and makes the app difficult to trust. I can walk the exact same route on the same trail and get significantly different mileage readings. For example, today I walked one direction on the trail and the app recorded 0.93 miles. I ended the session, started a new one, and walked the same exact trail back in the opposite direction. This time it recorded 1.19 miles. That’s a 0.26-mile difference on what should be the same distance, which is significant for a walk of only about a mile. This also throws off the pace and calorie metrics because they’re being calculated from an inaccurate distance. This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed it either. I can walk the same route on different days and consistently get different distance readings. I really want to like this app, but accurate GPS distance tracking is one of the most basic and important functions of a walking app. If I can’t trust the mileage, I can’t trust the rest of the workout data either. Please improve the GPS tracking and distance calculations.
My love for product is being tested…
Right after I posted my previous glowing review followed by a nice reply from the dev. I started getting OBNOXIOUS pop-ups to rate the product… Some type of glitch I am sure
Great app! Tip: more voices available via iPhone settings.
Awesome app, love it! ❤️👍 I didn’t like the announcement voices and the developer informed me that the voices are provided by Apple. You can add additional voices via the iPhone Accessibility/Read & Speak/Voices. Once you download additional voices they will automatically be made available in the Walkmeter app. Thank you developer for replying directly to me regarding the voices, and thank you for creating a fantastic app! 😁
Former user..
I’ve had this app for years, don’t remember if I paid something for it or not, but now it’s got a bag screen to upgrade. It worked fine before and I don’t feel I need to pay monthly or annually for something that had no subscription cost before. Deleted and looking for a better alternative
Iwatch
One major issue you can’t record steps from an iWatch step counter
Clunky and draining
I have used this app for years so I need my history. Very difficult to find and turn notices/announcements on and off. OK if keep those the same. Battery drain too high for longer hikes.
Last update issues
Doesn’t load on watch after most recent updates to app AND operating systems to both watch and phone.
Peace
On Track
Just Deleted
I had been using Walkmeter for years but just deleted it. Today ads started popping up of pornographic objectifications of parts of women’s bodies. Your app is disgusting.
Walk
I Love this APP
A lot of data but brutal UI
This gives you a boatload of info but the UI is horrendous. Give it a try and then accept the challenge of finding a map for one of the walks you took in 12 clicks or less. I’d put good money on betting you can’t.
Stalls and mileage errors
It stalls then the mileage is off about .2 miles. Like every thing else the app provides
The best
I’ve been using this and I love it!!
APP QUITS or MALFUNCTIONS - NO SUPPORT.
Leaving a 1 star review bc the developers really aren’t serious about customer queries. THE SUPPORT EMAIL ADDRESS IS A RUSE - not a valid address. Also, instructions are not complete. Last, why wouldn’t there be notifications for updates? A shame bc when it works it’s great. When it doesn’t a mess- example: even on a familiar oft-traveled 1.5 hr walk route, stats read .21 miles (map quits) @37mph. WTH.
Fitness Focused Walkers/Hikers
I’ve yet to find a better more complete walking app. This one gives you the most control. It doesn’t let you download maps for offline use like a lot of hiking/walking apps do, but most other apps don’t let you create routes and use additional sensors either. Hiking and walking aren’t really competitive activities, but this app makes it so they can be in terms of stats and individual performance. 🧐
distance walked?
not sure why miles distance does not show up when I’m walking. very annoying & have tried to check all settings. does no good, shows only time
No videos to learn how to use. Too complicated.
Too complicated with no instructions or videos on how to use. I may option for something simpler.
Walking tool
Never leave home without it. Keeps your exercise routine continuously and incentivizes you to sustain your program.
Scam ads beware!
The app shows scam ads saying the iPhone is infected with a virus and a countdown clock to hurry up and respond. This is a repeated problem with this app. In the past another ad said something about corrupted memory or memory all used up.
Handy Pedometer Plus
I use this for walking and cycling and it does a great job with lots of reporting detail. I’m well into my seventies and purely a leisure & keep fit exerciser. I wouldn’t be without it. Good backup support as well.
Not consistent
I have used this app for several years for tracking my walks time and distance. But I’m tired of the fact that I walk the same route most days but hit 1/4 and 1/2 mile marks at different spots on different days.
Struggle
Find it difficult to understand it’s logic. Does not appear easy to simply set up tracking a new route and naming it
Great app but sometimes...
I love this app and it encourages me to walk more. And it has improved significantly over the last several years. I use it now even when I walk downtown, just to record distance. I didn’t think about this when I started, but I have already recorded thousands of miles now after almost 10 years.
Subtract ads
Too many ads!!!!
It’s free to use and The Best.
I have only been using this app for a few years. I am a Brisk walker/hiker. Have over 200 members in my walking group, I advised all to use this app. As it records exactly where you have been. I now subscribe so that I can share walks with my friends. Now with Apple Watch app. It’s even better. Records my heart rate in real time. Only niggle. . . If I walk 7.9 miles, it states 7 miles traversed. So totalling up over a years walks. Can easily add several tens of miles. If you walk, run, ride, move over any distance, this is the best app I have found and used.
Not reliable
Yesterday it quick tracking 3 times in 3 miles and today once in 2 1/2 miles. No Audible signal to let you know so unless you keep checking you don’t know it’s quite this happens FREQUENTLY. Also, there’s a new screen that pops up with stuff I don’t want and i can’t figure out how to turn ir off. So if you’re like me and just want to measure miles walk, plus possibly elevation and elapsed time plus an audible notice when it quits, this is not for you. Support contact email is invalid address.
It quite there
I have been using RunKeeper since that is what Canada Army Run uses. It takes forever to sync. How is WalkMeter, now that I have an Apple Watch? Quicker, but why do they use the phone to relay info? It is bundled in my parka, so I never hear the info. There's also way too much info in small print on the watch. Swipe swipe swipe to get what I want. I'm back to RunKeeper, where everything is on one screen that I want to see. Now if only they can sync quicker!
Walkmeter
Great
Ad overload
Full screen ad when you open with tiny “continue” banner, ads when you run app, frequent upgrade prompts, all adding up to an unpleasant user experience. Better and less obnoxious options out there.
Watch those calories burn!
A spirit raiser during a ramble and with a map to review the route later. Essential!
Full ads block from use
Too much full screen clickbait ads that block you from using the app when you want to use it.
Why so many losses of signal?
Why does Walkmeter lose the signal often? It can’t be a mobile signal issue because I never get that with Strava on the same walk.
Walking buddy
Just love my walking buddy!!!
Awful Since “Updates”
Pop up ads to do anything now, which I suppose I can live with, but when the ads have a fake start button that looks just like the one used on the app, so they are baiting people into clicking an ad that they do not want to click, that is a problem. It is shady. Plenty of other apps out there I am deleting this one and getting a different one.
Arrêt sans qu’on le demande
Oila
Ads on a paid subscription
So, I opened up the app for the first time after the new update. I cannot express how disappointed I am. I pay a fee for this app because I have loved this app for a long time. It is a great app with a lot of workouts and options. But, I should not have to look at an advertisement. I open up the app, I’m outside and ready to start my workout, and up pops an ad…. GRRRRR. I close the ad and click start and ANOTHER ad pops up. This is completely unacceptable. I will wait for you to fix this because I have loved this app - but I won’t wait long. I will not pay for an app that I have to watch ads too.
Walkmeter
This app needs to be less complicated. Some of our walking group use it weekly. Perhaps a simple video of how to get started.
Long time friend
I have been using Walkmeter for years I like the premium package because it gives you more options for a low price . I had stopped walking for a while do to some knee pain but lm back out walking again with my old friend (Walkmeter) and things looking up
Forced ads
App was great until Oct, 2035 when ads were forced and access to app denied until personal info given and/or additional features accepted. Closed app before I could determine add’l cost, if any. Immediately cancelled subscription, which unfortunately auto renewed last month.
Arghh
For a second time, when my phone did an auto-update of the app, all previous files were deleted from the history. I can get them back from Abvio but it’s a very tedious process. All in all I like the app and it has been very helpful when I want to retrace a hike but this losing of files is unacceptable
Ads with premium plan
Stop the ads!
Complication
Used to be always at the cutting edge. Now still does not support apple watch complications.
Starting to walk again after hip surgery
This app is amazing!! Everything you need and probably much more than you expect. They also have a cycling app called Cyclemeter that is very similar but with a focus on cycling. I’ve used the cycling app for years and was extremely happy to get this walking app to track my walks after my surgery. Get this app!! You will not regret it. Synchronization with all the major apps like Strava, ect…. Also links up with all Bluetooth devices seamlessly and has media player, maps and GPS, altitude, anything you want.
Free version doesn't track biking?
I would like to use this app to track bike rides while using my iPad but cannot find the cycling tracker. It only offers hike and walk tracking.
Account
I purchased the premium a few months ago on iPhone, yesterday I traded that in for a Samsung galaxy s9, I just downloaded the app on new phone, how do I get my premium on there, I don’t know where else to ask this question. I M not buying it again on new phone.
What’s happened
Used to work well. Now only works now and again randomly. Recently the time was registering but the distance stayed at zero.
Just lost all my data
I have been using this app daily for 3 years. Today the app crashed. Despite restarting my phone several times, the app would no longer open. I had to delete and reinstall the app, losing 3 years of data. The world will go on but I was a little disappointed.
