I wanted something different
I wanted a 3D mahjong game. This hits all the marks. I just play the puzzle layout to unwind. I just finished the DNA LAYOUT and it’s my favorite so far. $1.99 for ad fee version. Graphics are very clean and sharp
meh
there is annoying swoosh swoosh sound as you're trying to solve the puzzle. Really annoying. Also the graphics are very poor compared to other things that are out there.
Great for years...
But, noted just tonight that there's a glitch in the touch/move sensor. I can't touch and move while on the board itself, so impossible to play. Hope it's fixed soon. I've loved this game for years.
inconsistent behavior
can be fun but play is inconsistent. robot player arbitrarily speeds up or slows down. the penalty for losing can be excessive with no consideration for the difficulty of the puzzle nor how close to winning you might have been. also, a large number of puzzles are completely impossible to win no matter how fast you play. there are simply too many tiles or the game must be continuously maneuvered to locate buried tiles. i’ve been playing this for years but have become so frustrated by its play, i gave up on it and deleted from my ipad
Fun
I would’ve given more stars if playing against the bot was winnable. I agree with another reviewer that it’s not humanly possible to keep up with the bot. They need to fix this.
The Ideal App
Been playing this app since my iPhone 3G, and I’m so glad it hasn’t gone to the app graveyard. It’s Just Gameplay. A variety of game modes, from speed rounds to player v computer to just solving the puzzles. You can pick your background. There’s no lives limiting gameplay, there’s no weird power ups or extra bits you have to “earn” to solve the puzzles. There are hundreds of layouts to play. Want something relaxing but fun? Want something to just chill out with on your phone that doesn’t have 82 micro transactions or minigames or the “season pass”? This is your game. Pure zen. Love it so much. Please never change.
Moonlight Mahjong
Would like my $1.79 or $1.99 back! When you still have moves it closes I think there is a timer. Deleting app!
Good game but has annoying quirks
The game is generally fun, but there are quirks that should be easy to fix, but have lingered for years. First, the game sometimes lags/stutters when you play. It’s random. It usually plays fine but sometimes it lags/stutters to the point where it’s unplayable. I have to just close the app and wait a couple hours, and then it works again. (Immediately reopening the app after closing it does not fix the lag/stutter). The other problem is the scrambles in scramble mode. Once you get to high levels, the scrambles become the determining factor as to whether or not you beat the tile bot. I know when the board is first presented whether or not I’m going to beat the tile bot with 90% accuracy. The games is not fun like this. What needs to happen is the game should keep track of your history for scrambles, and it should present you with puzzles that you historically have almost won but lost, or just barely won. This keeps it challenging. Instead what happens is you get an easy puzzle and you win easily. Then you get an impossible puzzle and barely get started before tile bot finishes. And it just becomes a frustrating exercise in waiting for a random string of easier puzzles.
Has this been speeded up? Impossible to complete any levels later on.
Been playing this for years and whilst I appreciate the bot does get faster as you progress, it’s really fast now. Just not enjoyable. Please slow it down a bit.
Some Games are not Winnable
I have been playing this game for years. I enjoy it and while I am not overly concerned about “winning” and certainly am up for a challenge, the game would be much more enjoyable if it was at least possible to win the games. I don’t know how the timing is determined or why the bot goes faster on some games than others, but there are some games that are not possible for a human to win, no matter how fast you are. What is the purpose of that? I have also noticed, as others have said, that the bot can be inconsistent, where all of a sudden the bot finishes although there were 20-30 pieces left. These factors keep this from being a truly great game and certainly less enjoyable for the average player.
Finally a more challenging one without ads!
It’s not free but it’s dirt cheap. I would even have paid more money for it because it’s so worth it! All the other ones out there are too easy, this one at least forces me to think and I love it! This one is available with some ads if you want to try it or don’t want to spend any $. But I thinks it’s so worth it and I love the no ads.
Don’t buy it.
I want my dollar back
Needs a pause button
Love this game but it would be nice if you could pause it.
Latest update
In the past this has been an excellent app with a large assortment of puzzles, from easy to maddening, as well as several game modes to fit the player’s mood. The latest update has far too many glitches to be anything but frustrating! Everything from showing inaccurate tiles to timer clocks not working properly! And the glitches are not limited to just one puzzle or game mode
Used to be great
This used to be a great game that I have played for years but they are now riddled with adds after every level you play. Most you cannot even click out of but have to watch for the whole add. Adds are ruining this games. Also as you go higher in the level Tilebot goes so impossible fast that it is near impossible to beat which can get very frustrating. I have tried for several months to get past level 114 but Tilbot goes so fast it is almost impossible. I am almost ready to call it quits on this game.
BEST MAHJONG!
I’ve been playing Mahjong for a long time but I was always frustrated by other versions of the game found here in the Apple Store. They all required you to watch hideous amounts of advertisements, but not this one. Well worth the money and it makes all the other Mahjong games that I’ve played throughout the years look absolutely boring. The 3-D layout is awesome and there are many different layouts to choose from. It’s challenging and yet relaxing plus you can choose to be challenged or not. It’s entirely up to you… to developers; nicely done!
RUINED game
I have been playing this game for years. You have now RUINED this game!!!!!
Slowing the bot has hurt this game for me.
The bot is so slow now there is no challenge. The game needs another version added…the bot the same speed as it was and then this new slower bot.
Multiplayer doesn’t work
We are unable to connect and play multiplayer anymore. The app just states “joining game” before crashing.
Don’t Want Game Center
[2022-12-11] After updating, keeps trying to activate Game Center. Need a way to turn that off until such time as I choose to activate it. Minus one star for no on/off switch for Game Center. Minus one star for continuing to push the login for Game Center when I have clearly chosen to remain signed out. As far as I am concerned it is a privacy and security issue first, and an annoyance second.
Honest fun
I’ve always liked Mahjong!! When this game was advertised as no ads, I thought I’d give it a try. It is NO ADS!!! It is fun being able to do different layouts every game if you want to OR play the same layout over and over. You’re choice 😊
Scramble Mode
Really like this game, but since the last update (yesterday), the computer is just wayyyyy tooooooo fast! How am I ever going to move up levels now...it just seems impossible. It's nice for the easy layouts but once you have more than 100 tiles, forget it. I'd love to go back to the Challenge but it does not let you pickup at the level one was. PLEASE have the speed at a reasonable pace, that it is possible to beat.
Excellent except 4.0 adds some graphical glitches
It’s one of my favourite games but if you’re on v3.x perhaps don’t upgrade to v4 just yet. Twice now I’ve had a tile flickering between one tile, another tile or bits of each. Entertainingly I just ended up with two tiles left that were different, but luckily I knew they were the same really. iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd gen, iOS 17.5.1
Too fast
I loved the game but now that I have reached a high level, it is impossible to move forward due to the speed of the game. I've played the same 3 levels for about 6 months now and cannot get past a certain point. I've stopped playing it, which is disappointing.
Great game but
I have been playing this game for years but recently have found that it's definitely cheating the speed it beats you at is ridiculous.
The best!
For many years I have had matching games this one is my absolute favorite. I love the way it varies, the options in the tablets, the colors and most of all, the multi dimensionality!! I never get bored with it! Keep up the good work!
Turn off the game centre pop-up
I've enjoyed this app for many years until the game centre notice started popping up. What gives? I have absolutely no interest in playing through the game centre. Please get rid of it!
Love this game….note to Developer.
I’ve been playing Moonlight Mahjong for years now. Very enjoyable. Note to the Developer…… Could you add more of the larger puzzles with 1000+ pieces. The very large ones are my favorites but there are only 3 or 4 with more than 500 pieces. Thank you.
Stats gone on ipad 2 and ipad 3
Since the last update, when I go to choose a layout, there are no stats displayed for scramble and puzzle efficiency and also puzzles solved on my ipad 2 and ipad 3. Nor does the level display or the number of tiles for the layout :( All ok on my iphone 5s though. All devices running ios 8. Back to 5 stars when this hiccup is fixed as it's a brilliant mahjong game!!
Pros and cons
Love the game, the graphics etc but the down side is that the tile bot goes too quickly on the multi level large puzzles. We have to turn the puzzles in four different directions to find a match but tile bot does not have the same disadvantage. Otherwise good, clean fun for any age, but it would be better if there were degrees of difficulty in order to help the young, aged or people with poorer eye site or hand problems such as a tremor. Once you get past level 35 - 39, in scramble mode give up and play something else, because tilebot doesn't allow for the time we need to rotate the levels to find a match!
Relaxation mode - AHHHH!
I just broke my dominant wrist. Needless to say, I’m not real fast at anything right now, and the regular mode gets way too fast. Relaxation mode - no timer, all the puzzles. I loved this game before, but right now, this is a sanity saver. Still buggy!
What Changed???
I’ve been playing this game for many years. I go through spurts, leave it for a couple months and then go back to it. I’m not an expert; the highest I’ve ever gotten was a mid-80s level. In the past when you failed a level you went back one level and tried to advance from there. Now when you fail a level you go back all the way to level 1! Whatever changed please change it back!
Continues to challenge
It’s a simple idea well executed. It took me a while to learn the shapes on the tiles, and more to keep pace with the computer game, but even now (after hundreds of plays) I can’t beat it every time. I particularly struggle with 3D boards. So despite being a simple game concept it has some staying power. I seem to waver from the 50s down to the high 30s and back again in terms of levels - but the boards don’t get harder, the level just reflects more wins than losses. So if you like simple puzzle games, this might be up your street!
Dislike the updates
The latest update has completely removed the only tiles I enjoyed playing with. Annoyed to the point I'm most likely just going to delete it. Otherwise it was one of my most used apps!
Update has changed game
Used to love this game, but since the update the tile bot has got faster and now can't get past level 56. It now never seems to run out of tiles and has to shuffle whereas mine does and all the while the tile bot keeps matching tiles and I'm waiting for the shuffle. It has become frustrating and annoying rather than a pleasurable distraction. It used to be a five star game, not now.
Love it
Fast and fascinating with variety. 🙌
This game is a cheat
This game is programmed in the way that if you got around level 60 and above, the tilebot makes 3 matches (or more) per second. The fastest a human can humanly match this is one match per second. So this game cheats and is programmed to make you lose & therefore impossible to win. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
iOS 11 Update?
Would be nice to see an update for iOS 11 - specifically, to fix the weird audio stuttering issue when your phone is on silent but you’re playing music. Any chance of that happening? 👍
Moonlight Majohn
Love Majohn, after paying for this enjoyed the graphics and movement. Having said that do not appreciate being sent back to the 1st level to replay from the beginning. Should also be able to cancel a play. Not worth the money will tell others not to buy.
Too many hidden levels
As per title, there are way too many levels where the tiles are hidden under others. Otherwise a great game.
I LOVE This Game!
There are different modes; I prefer the Relaxation mode. But what I love most about Moonlight Mahjong is the 3D aspect. It adds a whole new component to any standard game of mahjong. That’s always a good thing for stimulating your brain but Moonlight Mahjong takes a digital game a step farther, adding the eye-hand coordination needed to manipulate each puzzle in space.
Valdy
Is ok game, but if software is cheating you I think is unfair when you r looking for highlighted tiles and slowly is appearing, to slow you down make you angry. I have over 800k score and is making me app set because this situation.
Cooperative mode killed by iOS 10.2 >:-(
v3.2.2, 16 Feb '17: 4 stars I upgraded my devices to iOS 10.2 (iPhone 6 from 10.1, iPad mini from iOS 9.3), and now cooperative mode no longer works. Have written to developer, but problem is with Apple, not dev. Don't upgrade to 10.2 if you play co-op mode! ------------- v3.2.2, 07 Jun '16: 4-stars, "Sync between devices & resequence user backgrounds would be nice" Same comments as before, plus it would be nice if the choice of user backgrounds could be resequenced on "Edit", not only deleted. ------------ v3.1.3, 25 Oct '15: 4-stars, "Great game; sync between devices would be nice" My first "favourite" game; the first game that I installed on my iPhone 3GS, and still a great game. Really good that the developer keeps updating it, so that it continues to be a joy to play. It would, without hesitation, be a five-star app, but for the fact that I have two devices - iPhone and iPad mini - and it would be a nice touch (maybe by a toggle switch?) if the app were to give you the choice of either playing separate games between the two devices (as at present) or to play the same game on the two devices, Handoff-style. If that could be added, it would definitely have that fifth star back.
Fix it!!
Have got to level14 twice and never got through so try again and it goes back to level 4 or 5 and once to level 2. Should go to the level that you never got through. Please fix this
Capt Dan
Good game, but it is true that the apps is cheating on us
Great Puzzles!
I have been having such a great time playing against the timer bot. I love a good challenge & it keeps my brain stimulated! This is the best Mahjong I have ever found! 😍
Crashes on startup
Used to be a favourite, now crashes on startup with the latest iOS update. Come on, guys... Get this fixed!
Beautiful Interface, Relaxing Game
I have worked my way through many Mahjong apps and this is the one I come back to time and again. The user interface is fantastic with 3D tiles that can be manipulated in all directions so that free tiles can easily be viewed. There are so many different game play options so it is impossible to get bored. The options are customisable to make games easier or harder depending on what you want. You can play against 'Tilebot' and race to complete games first or you can play just for relaxation. I took off one star as there is limited tile art to choose from, however you can upload your own backgrounds. This is a great game which could take up far too much time if you're a little lacking in self discipline!!
Crashes in IOS6
Was a fun game, but no longer works for me after IOS 6 update. Bummer.
Needs an update, crashes on opening
Great game and lots of fun to play. However, after last iOS update, it crashes right after opening the game. :( Please fix!
