Nice chess app
I’m playing chess here, it’s one of the cleanest chess apps by far.
So bad.
For the governing body of chess you’d think they could have better funding for servers, I mean LICHESS does it for free. The amount of times I lost games with a 15 second lead to mysteriously hitting 0 on the timer after a move has been infuriating, all the while in other games my opponents take more than 3 minutes to start the game on a timed 30 minute start.
Good
The app is good but with few drawbacks such as frequent disconnections, taking break in tournaments even if we are playing another game in same app. Other than that it’s good with pgn and fen exports ..
This is ridiculous
Are you seriously telling me that the International Chess Federation, which I pay no small sum for every year, which my federation pays for, which receives IOC funding, needs to put adds for dumb mobile games on their major online platform? Your memberships are ridiculously expensive as they are. Honestly shameful; do better FIDE.
AFM
Site is improving. But checks for engine use missing
laggy and 30fps??
how is it possible that a game with elements of speed isn’t offered in at least 60fps??? game is constantly lagging as everyone else has mentioned. what is going onn?
Great App, just a minor glitch
The app works just fine, but i am unable to disable sounds on the ipad M4 pro, iphone 12,16. It is a challenge as if I am watching some video, app takes control of the audio to give the thud sound for the action or turn, pausing the video. Unless I am missing a setting on iOS, ipadOS.
Good, but drains battery fast
I haven’t experienced the app crashing that everyone else seems to be mentioning. However, I’ve noticed this App drains the battery of my iPad incredibly quickly. 47 minutes of playing and I lost nearly 20% of my battery. That’s more than any other game I have played on my iPad. Definitely unexpected behavior from a Chess app.
Nice
The app has gotten so much better lately. I really like the new analysis, and the coach is actually helpful! Definitely enjoying the app more now!
Buggy as hell
Get a grip on your QA reps
Good Prizes
This Chess App is very good you can win very high prizes but the only problem is the community is small right now so there isn’t big prizes or prizes at all sometimes almost everything.
Nice UI but loses connection
The graphics and UI are very good but it loses connection causing you to default on your game. So while the app cannot be trusted I'm sticking with Chess.com
So far so good
I wanted to try this app out for myself to see if it was as bad as the review says. So far I have played 5 games with no lag and no issues. I’m currently in a hotel using terrible hotel WiFi and still no issues. Also so far I can find games fast with real people. I’ll have to try at a few different times in the day to see how consistent that is as I’ve noticed in other chess apps depending on the time of day it is harder for the app to find someone online. I like that I can choose multiple time formats at once to search for potential players, something I haven’t see in other chess apps. Like a few other chess apps you can only play a few puzzles a day unless you get the pro account. Which looks cheaper than the lowest tier of chess.com, though chess.com has way more features. This app does have an additional 10 puzzles that look like they are submitted by players around the world that you can try once your daily free puzzles are complete. Haven’t tried them all but they look difficult. They are also in another language so I don’t know what the “hint” or description of each puzzle is. Rather than having characters to play, you can play AI bots as well. And it will let you play in any time format with a bot which is pretty cool. Playing bullet with an AI robot is kind of crazy! All and all it has the basic stuff every chess app has with the pro account giving you access to the Masterclass lessons with GMs, more puzzles and opportunity to gain FIDE status (which is the main reason I was interested in this app). I like the idea of achieving FIDE rating with the pro account so I can see where I rank against world players but I haven’t signed up yet. I’ll will play a few more games for a few more days/weeks and then consider. Will also update review if I experience any issues. But so far definitely not seeing the issues others have said in their review.
Horrible, one of the worst chess apps by any measure &/or metric!
It’s slow to respond to moves made and it Crashes a lot.. It constantly keeps me from being able to make a move costing me the game even worse when it’s a won game but then I lose because it doesn’t allow me to make any moves.. And it lacks the feature to control the ratings of the opponents that can play against you, I constantly have to abort a game because the opponent is 400 or more rating points below me, wasting my time and only getting a single point for the win. Horrible anti-cheating measures. And are you guys out of your mind, I did not come here (nor did anyone else) to play against “BOTS”, did you actually think it was ok or even a good idea to have Bots play against people to make it look like you have enough players on here or so that people are not waiting a long time for a game.. We are on here to play against a live opponent.. That was disrespectful, that shows that you don’t care about anyone on here and that you just through this together just to make money.. Who is going to spend money on this garbage, if anyone did they did so thinking it would be better and they should as soon as possible cancel or never renew their subscription..

Strange rating system
Works again
The cryptic “Failed to map data to a Decodable object” and “Status code didn’t fall within the given range” error messages I had seen upon trying to log in are gone - yay. Overall design looks clunky and confusing. So far have only checked out the puzzles, which don’t tell you what the right moves were when you don’t figure it out, and no analysis - so you can’t learn much. Also, the rating doesn’t get updated after each game, only sometime later. Very frustrating experience overall.
Agm
Very good!
Is this even legit?
I am a tournament player Rated around 1800 USCF. Why am I only 1400 in blitz here? On Lichess my bullet rating is over 2200. Chess.com I am 1900 in blitz and bullet. This 1400 rating is total nonsense. And you get this Weird feeling while playing on it like would fide even affiliate it itself with this substandard product? There is no chat there is no option to report suspicious players. Which honestly is a common occurrence nowadays. The worst part is there is no option to easily delete the account and get on with my life. Awful product
Good App
It’s a great app that’s for sure but they could improve the size of the board during the game because on my iPad I can only see half the board. Please fix this issue ASAP
Good
Simple clean ui
Saturated with cheaters like all the rest
No different than chess.com with cheaters. It’s sad and tragic. Overboard chess is where it’s at now. Can’t trust the pathetic to not cheat and play fair
This app needs more attention!
Really good played it with my mate better inv system then chess.com
App crashed after I receive AFM title
“Failed to download application configuration. Try again.” Is always displayed. Restarted phone and re-installed the app didn’t help. Happened on my Iphone 14 Plus.
Love itt
Great job developers! You can tell they really understand what chess players want.
FIDE is great but World Chess made this app unusable
Here are the problems that the developers should clearly be replaced over if they can’t make fixes: 1. Matching is horrible—you can’t even filter the ELO range. 2. The game abort rate is phenomenally high as a result of #1 and a lack of penalty for aborting games. 3. You can’t see user profiles (every other chess app has this). 4. PGN file downloads are usually or always corrupt. 5. Players are often unintentionally placed into multiple games, which can cause you to lose fast paced games.
all of you are wrong
trust me this app is very good but lichess is a little bit better
Genuinely bad
I never write negative reviews, so the fact I’m compelled to write one is telling. It’s a fundamentally broken application; games either will not function or cease to function mid-play. The concept around FIDE online arena is great, and I feel like there are a lot of people that want this to work well, but the execution is poor at this point. To the devs - if you care, take a few pages out of chess.com’s playbook and fix the glaring issues.
Great start, but there are many bugs
It crashes sometimes; UI can have more options; no abort when no moves were played; time tracking is not accurate
It’s a great start!
We need other platforms than chess.com, really FIDE does a great job of connecting others through a unique social blend of a chess platform, boards are unique and the games are as good as ever, thank you for developing this app!
Horrible app, horrible execution
Unfortunately, FIDE does not deliver a well thought out product. With heavy lag during games, poor app response, glitches, errors, bugs... you name it. It comes across as a money grab with the sole approach of pushing a paid premium account... and even the process of creating a PRO account had bugs LOL! And their website is no better. FIDE should take itself more seriously as a prominent governing body of chess and fix their product. Respect your player base.
Wow. Something get better others are still fairly bad.
For the major bug: For some reason there is a way that when somebody is losing they can run out the clock and win. Can’t figure out how they do it, but is so frustrating. The filtering of Elo when match making doesn’t work. The new multiple matching sometimes ends up starting multiple games at time. Things that are standard in lichess or chess.com are not available. You can’t scroll back and forward to see your moves. You can’t see what pieces are captured although they recently added the ability to see how many points your behind. The color schemes for the boards are terrible. Can we please get standard looking boards. The sound the pieces make are still made even when the phone is silent. There is always a lag between when you make your move and the computer picks it up. No wonder that on most days there are only a few hundred people on. This app is a struggle.
This is an updated version and is still defective
Updated today first game player stopped making moves and his time ran out. I checked my results which said I lost on time. Either fix this pgm or return my money.
