I like this app and would like to request a feature. More details to view such as image location would be useful.
Will not open - crashes - been doing this for over a yr
They refuse to fix this app. I have never been able to open it and I’ve been paying for iDrive for over a year. Makes me wonder about their reputation. Not a good look.

Disappointing and painful uploads
The app interface itself is decent and easy enough to use but unfortunately the core reason I purchased the yearly subscription completely falls apart in real usage. I bought this app expecting it to automatically upload my photos in the background. I’ve enabled everything, background processing, full photo access, all permissions, yet it simply does not work as advertised. If I don’t manually open the app and keep it running on the screen, nothing uploads. The moment the app is closed or sent to the background, uploads stop. This defeats the entire purpose of a photo backup app. Having to constantly open the app and leave it running just to back up photos is extremely frustrating and impractical. It feels like either an inherent bug or a fundamental limitation that isn’t clearly disclosed. If background uploads actually worked reliably, this might be a much better product

can’t even open the app to cancel my subscription, it’s been over a year and the app just crashes on launch
DO NOT USE
So here’s the thing, I drive proves on a regular basis that they have inexperienced developers and even more clueless product managers. Both this app and their photos app are so badly designed that no one should use it. If you use their IDrive Online to backup your photos you cannot share them, if you use this app to backup your photos and remove one from their Web-based interface it DELETES the original photo from your phone. This is no better than the garbage that Apple does with iCloud. I strongly urge you to use Google Photos or Amazon Photos to backup your photos, neither of which delete your personal property when items are removed from the cloud.

This app is not working, it use to be really good but now it doesn’t open anymore, I’m worried about my pictures getting deleted from the cloud
Won’t backup unless app is in the foreground
I’ve been using this app for over a year. The app works well except that it will not back up my photos unless the app is in the foreground. If swipe away from the app and leave it open, it will never back up my photos. In comparison, Amazon photos does this without a problem. I leave both apps open in the background. Amazon Photos always backs up my pictures while idrive never does till I open get the app in the foreground. Another problem is the way the pictures are organized. They assign a row per day even if there is a single photo in one day. This is very wasteful visually. They need to add a compact view mode or at least group multiple days together if there’s only a handful of pictures in a day. Again, this is something that Amazon photos does beautifully. Two things going for this app is 1) the price and 2) fastest upload speed of any app I’ve tried.
IDrive works great for backup to store photos
As a college student, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with IDrive. It has been a lifesaver for me when it comes to backing up all my important files. I've been using it on my iPhone 14 max pro, the new Motorola flip Razor, and even my iMac with no issues. Sure, the interface could use a little sprucing up, but for the price, it does exactly what I need it to do. Before getting IDrive, I had invested in a 6tb external storage device. Luckily, IDrive was able to back up all my files from that device because it's now unrecoverable. That alone makes me a happy customer. Plus, it's more budget-friendly compared to other backup services I've looked into. Overall, I'd definitely recommend IDrive to any fellow college students looking for a reliable backup solution.
Won't open
I can no longer open this app on my iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.5.1
Good but there is an issue.
I would give it 5 stars but just recently I haven’t been able to upload videos longer than 3 minutes. Using iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Seems pointless
It’s a little pointless really. It doesn’t do as much as syncing to iCloud so seems to be limited in that sense and also only shows photos backed up from your phone, so if you have photos backed up from your computer you cannot see them. This means it also has less functionality than Google and Amazon photos which come in at the same price. If you are looking for something to backup your photos but doesn’t sync changes, doesn’t allow you to compress what remains on your phone once backed up and only allows you to see photos from mobile sources then you may have a use for this though that seems like a pretty restrictive feature set.
Missing option to delete backed up files
Why isn’t there an option to delete all the backed up photos and videos like there is on google photos? This way I have to manually select and delete files from gallery when my storage gets full. Also, if not all files have been backed up, you could potentially delete a file that’s not yet on the cloud which results in losing it forever.

App doesn’t work and keeps crashing
I went to retrieve a photo I know I had in my backup and the app keeps crashing and there is not one picture that is loading. What a waste of a yearly subscription. Going back to google photos
Wish it had "select all" button on pc
I transferred 27 thousand photos onto the app over 3 days to swap phones for one with lower memory that could not hold the photos. It is slow uploading and downloading but does work, so I can't complain too much. My photos are all there. The thumbnails are sometimes very slow to load in the app on my new phone. But i am happy with it overall. I wish they would put a "select all" button on the pc app so i would transfer them all to my pc. I want multiple layers of security for my photos that way. But on the pc app you can only download one at a time. It doesn't matter to me if it takes 5 days for my pc to download the 27 thousand photos it would just be nice to do select all and hit download and then leave it alone to work.

Unable to backup continuously failing
Needs big improvement
I am using unlimited photo storage subscription and did photo backup folder from my computer using idrive windows app but it doesn’t show in iPhone idrive photos app. Also when I did backup from my two iPhones then it merged both phones photos in to one folder. Its mess. This app requires lots of improvement. There is no extra features like make albums, face detection, photo search etc.
Removes photos when deleted from phone
I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have a leave my backup even if I deleted photos on my phone. At least I can’t find that feature. I want to transfer my photos to a secure back up and remove them from my phone. That’s what I didn’t like about google photos.

Multiple media
Being able to share multiple photos and videos together is such a bonus point! Saves me so much time.

It worked flawlessly. But after the update it is crashing constantly on opening.

Doesn’t actually backup photos and videos
Ok so I backed up some photos and videos last night so when I saw back up complete I deleted the photos and videos from my photos app just to find out that they were also deleted from IDrive photos I thought that the videos and photos can’t be deleted once backed up and your report a problem doesn’t work either
Delightful
iDrive is a big brand in the software desktop space and I have been a customer for like forever. I have been using this and I would highly recommend it

No longer works on iPhone after latest update.

Good solution by iDrive. Finally a dedicated solution only for photos and videos which are the most important thing to backup anyway.
App has many issues
As I saw someone else mention, a lot of these reviews seem fake. This makes even more sense with the issues I have. App is buggy for sure, can’t even load my content, it spins and spins, randomly crashes, it needs help.

Not a reliable app
App upload 20 to 50 photos / videos then freezes. Tried the report problem option, you entered the problem and all it does is create an email with your comments as the subject NOT the body and there is no TO: address. No idea who to send this to but not very useful all the way around.

I personally like this app the best out of all the other apps I've used because of how fast it is and the immense amount of storage. Highly recommend this app.
Not for storage- auto backup only
Purchased the app to use for storage and upon downloading- the only option is to allow all photos from device. You can change settings to not allow auto sync from iCloud but you cannot go back and remove without deleting from iCloud.
Slow upload
