What people like
- Huge library of high-quality instructional videos
- Great for learning techniques at your own pace
- Teaches from world-class experts in the sport
What they complain about
- Downloads often fail or delete themselves
- Casting to TV is broken and unreliable
- Login issues lock you out of your purchases
- App is slow, buggy, and crashes frequently
Why can’t we use Air Play on the tv anymore?
Good app but why can’t we use Air Play on the tv anymore?
No casting to tv?
What kind of monkeys do you have build this app? Casting only does audio, and I can't even go full screen anymore with out the app losing its damn mind.
Broke the video sharing again
The icon for sharing the video to an Apple TV is missing from the playback. This happened before a while ago and was fixed. Broken in latest update.
Screen cast
Love the app but not sure why they keep taking the screencast option away.
This app has helped my game tremendously
I live in Alaska so I never thought I’d learn from legends like this
Can’t download and can’t Airplay
Thanks to their recent update I can no longer download videos to my phone as a file and I can not consistently airplay videos to my TV.
Where is the AppleTV App
Excellent content, the app is a bit finicky but what they are truly missing is an app for the AppleTV
Had no issue until last week
All of a sudden I can not airplay any of the 20+ instructionals. Reached out and did everything that was recommended. Still can not airplay any of them. Not working from the bjj Fanatics website either. Interface looks different so I’m assuming they updated something and since then service had not worked for last week or more
Needs work
Awesome app love it, but it seems a recent update has caused a lot of grief. Seemingly randomly the video player buttons will stop working e.g. can’t go full screen, can’t pause, etc. Closing and reopening the app once or twice seems to fix it. Please fix! Also would be nice if autoplay worked in screencast mode, annoying to have to manually click next after each section when watching on tv. Love you!
Great app for combat sports
This app has helped me improve a lot over the past couple of years. I first saw it a couple years back and decided to start using it to learn a cradle series. I don’t know what I would have done without this app!
Randomly resets course progress
The app will randomly reset program and start all courses over. I’ve put far too many hours in just to have to constantly forward through videos to find where I left off because an app cannot function properly.
Great App, but…
I would give a 5stars if you could scroll the table of contents and keep the video player fixed on top. It’s probably an easy fix I hope developers read my review…. Last update fixed the scrolling, great job, still evaluating the rest of the UI for better feedback 🤙
You lost a star from me
You got rid of tap for sound and then brought it back. The dumbest feature I’ve ever seen for a video app.
Overall good
Good basic functionality, but it has deleted my bookmarks multiple times, and would benefit from other ways to sort and filter courses. For example, being able to sort your own library by your rating or some sort of assigned priority.
BJJ Fanatic
Everything you need to level up your training regardless of age or rank. A wide range of training courses form beginners to advanced. Any topic you can think of there is a video tutorial available. Also not just jiu jitsu. There is great striking training available as well.
Won’t let me login
It keeps saying login is wrong but it’s correct and can’t login to my account and then I try to reset password and then I change the password and it says wrong password after putting in the correct password
Great but video download doesn’t work off line
Love the content, the only problem is when I download the videos so that I can watch them later when I don’t have WiFi or data, it doesn’t work. It seems to be trying to stream the video even if I downloaded it ahead of time. If this would fix I would definitely rate 5 stars
App is not good
Content is good but app is terrible. It is very slow, and I know it’s the app bc everyone other app I use on my phone and accessing the web is fast. Also there are random times where the app literally just doesn’t work at all. For example, right now as I’m typing
Awesome videos TERRIBLE app
I love the videos and the knowledge this site provides but good gosh is the app terrible. Most of the time the videos won’t even load even with great internet connection, I’ve all but given up actually streaming videos from bjj fanatics and I have to just download them to my actual phone. Just terrible
Perfect
Easy to follow and well explained!
Terrible user account management
If your payment email address is different then the one you create an account with you are screwed until support staff gets back to you. Also if you use a shop account you literally can’t access the app, again until you talk to support staff. This is ridiculous. If you pay $100 for a video, my expectation is that it’s easy to access.
Brilliant!!
Brilliant way to spread knowledge in a fast growing sport
App is Terribly Slow
On a browser, this app works fine, but via the app functions such as selecting specific modules are incredibly slow
Can’t see videos ?
Hello, it’s impossible for me to look the vidéos on the app
Overcoming Learning Curves
I needed ways to improve my jiu jitsu and judo outsideof practice, so using this app lets me watch sections of a topic at a time so I can pause and practice after at own pace
Terrible update
This app is now useless. You cannot jump around the paid content and downloads for videos do not work. They are all erased once you quit the app and I get an infinite spinner whenever I go to a chapter besides one that the app decides to play. Although the UI on the older version felt a little outdated — it at least could play the video. Now you have a mediocre UI update with virtually no functionality whatsoever. This needs to be fixed immediately.
No iPad Support
It would be a 5/5 if there was an iPad Version
Great content, buggy download function
Great content but as many other reviewers have already highlighted, the download function is buggy. It will often show a video as downloaded but you will then have to re-download it again. The app and overall streaming performance is slow and frustrating, so I prefer to download items for so it’s frustrating that the download function doesn’t work correctly. Annoyingly, BJJ Fanatics still does not allow you to download full resolution videos! Other than that, the overlay layout and interface is simple and nice.
Need help! Can’t access “my videos”
As the title says I need help. Just updated to latest version of the app, I have like 7 instructionals I’ve bought and they are no where to be seen either in the app or on pc version. I have all the purchase emails and everything to show for it. Please help me.
LOVE IT
As a practitioner who is in the move this is exactly what I need while traveling. I can still gain knowledge while being away from gym and training partners!
New App is Terrible
They just upgraded their app about 3 weeks ago and it no longer saves where you were in the video when you go back to watch later. I also downloaded a bunch of instructional last night which showed green checks indicating that they were downloaded, but when I went to watch them they had all auto deleted less than 24 hours later.
App Bugs Prevent Viewing of Purchased Videos
When watching videos on a PC, it works well enough. When trying to access the video tab on the app, some days it won’t let you access that tab (and therefore your videos) altogether. When it works, it’s a convenient way to watch. When it doesn’t, makes me regret more and more the money I’ve put into some purchases. If you plan to use the app only, consider the risk in doing so.
Casting isn’t great
Decent app but casting is poor. Works for 30 seconds or so and then stops playing and won’t re-connect. Other apps and websites work fine so it’s not a hardware issue.
Simply Amazing!
This app allows you to watch the videos you own as well as purchase products you want. Very good teach by John Danaher as well!
Impossible to login
If you logged in on the website with Shop, you'll never be able to login to the app
My videos
I can’t access my videos. I click the button but it doesn’t change the screen to my videos.
Good, but casting isn’t working.
The app is reasonably good. It saves my place in the video I’m watching, and allows bookmarks as well. My main gripe is that the casting to a tv isn’t working. When I select to cast a video, it connects to my tv, but produces just a blank screen. When I look at the casting on the app it claims “no media selected”.
BJJ Fanatics App
Very useful and helpful
Stream Quality and Downloadability
I payed $100 for an instructional, and the content is put into a streaming platform to prevent piracy. I respect this; however, I expect it to work. Currently I cannot download the content onto my phone, neither can I stream it. I have no problems streaming from YouTube, but it takes my phone multiple minutes to load the instructional. Once it loads, the video has great quality audio and videography. If this problem is fixed I would change my rating for this app to 5⭐️.
reliability
unfortunately it doesn't always work stably, currently I can't access my videos
Not there yet
Good app but some of my videos don’t download. I would also like my Judo fanatics videos on the same app.
Neon Icon Licorice belt
Great stuff all around
Can’t even login
Reset my password in bjjfanatics.com, logged off the website, closed the app, reopened the app, and logged back into the app with zero success and zero instruction (pop up, email or otherwise) as to what to do to simply log into the app. What a fiasco. I’ll just use the web browser and use the time trying to continue figuring out the app for actual training.
What’s the point of download.
Download videos I have purchased onto iPhone app, only not able to play unless have cellular connection for profile. I Download videos to watch when no cellular or wifi data is available for example travel. Guess I will stick with Netflix while travelling or no signal connection available. Videos are great with the best bjj guys , app it self needs work.
