This is actually a good app, but any app that nags for a review automatically gets a 1-star from me.
Great app - but feeds keep disappearing
I believe it to be a bug, unfortunately I can’t use it anymore. Using the latest mac os tahoe - I hope this app gets updated, the app is really great!

Really like the app and the design but it only loads the first 5 articles
Broken by iOS 16
It worked perfectly for me until I upgraded to iOS 16. Now the list of stories has blank slots in it. You can tap those blank spots and get to the articles that are supposed to be listed but obviously this is not ideal. I don’t know if it’s the fault of Apple or if Jason is using some funky custom list control that was marginal and just broke. I really appreciate the work Jason has put into the app.
Abandoned Gem app
It’s been my favorite app I used to use for years. But it’s been long abandoned for 2 years now since last update. Sad to see you go bud.
Not bad for an early release (updated)
Original review below is over 2 years old and it's been over a year since an update. An abandoned app can't be anything more than 1 star. Already after one update many of the request I and others have been added as well as comlaints being addressed. Updating to 5 stars. Check app update history for what's been addressed. The reader mode is nicest I've seen so far. You can create folders and move your feeds into them, you can import opml from other apps which maintains folder hierarchy if that app supports folders. What it needs. Mark articles read on scrolling past them Option to hide read articles by default instead of manually hiding all the time. When clicking on a top level folder it expands the folder clicking the arrow should expand the folder. There is no way to view all stories in a top folder. For example I have a tech folder and have to go to every single sub folder and read the stories I should be able to just click the tech folder and see the stories in that folder. Needs swipe gestures example swipe right mark read/unread swipe left add to favorite. When viewing stories there is about a quarter inch of empty space on the left and right making appear almost window boxed. The story headlines should go the width of the screen to see more words in the title. Need to add an option to sort by oldest and newest first. If in reader mode hitting the safari button should open in the in app browser instead of leaving the app. If we want to leave the app from that screen the safari button should open in your default browser. Under notifications there should be an option to show badge count with unread articles. Should be an option to see favicons to the left of the headline to quickly see at a glance which site posted the story as well as an option to enable images if there is one in the story. Either a small image to the right of the headline or a large image below the headline. All in all it's a really good start it's just not ready to be my main RSS app for now I'm sticking with Reeder and NetNewsWire. I am going to keep Otter installed and look forward to future updates.
Nice free RSS reader
Works as advertised. Easemporting an existing list of feeds from another reader on my Mac was a big plus. The only improvement would be to reduce the white space between the list of feeds.
Doesn‘t work properly
Sadly doesn‘t work for me. The article list is very glitched. Articles flicker in and out of existence and about 30 of them don‘t show at all. It‘s a shame because I really like the app otherwise. It has a nice and simple interface and supports all the features that I want. The glitches happen on my ipad and my iphone.
Trouble persisting feeds
Hey, I have been having trouble having feeds persist after closing the app; when I subscribe to feeds and close the app, all the feeds are gone, making me have to read each url. Unsure if theres a way to save different feeds? Otherwise love the minimalist nature of the app!

No guide, insructions, in app. Website menu bar nonfunctional. Looks like it might be interesting. but unless I know how to use it, so what?!
Almost Perfect for my needs
The app, as I said, is almost perfect for my needs - the only thing I miss is that it doesn‘t save my preferences. I prefer to have oldest news first on the list, and to hide my already read news - this I have to set in the preferences every time I open the app.
Only shows a couple of entries
Like another review states as well : it only shows a small number of entries before the list goes blank. This is on ios16.5. It's a shame because it looks to be a brilliant little reader. I hope this issue gets addressed soon.
Nice app but sync doens‘t work
I like that there are apps for all my apple devices(iPad,iPhone,Mac). But the iCloud think often doesn‘t work. Every day there are articles marked as new that I have read days before.
Works Great, syncs on all iOS Devices
Love this app. Use it on Macbook, Mac Mini, iPad and iPhone. Lists stay synced and I'm super happy with it. Thank you!
Inconsistent function
The ability to subscribe to a feed from Safari is very inconsistent. I love this app but it only seems to work when it feels like it. Please fix that. :) - Update: it keep completely dumping my feeds now. To the point I've lost a lot of feeds for no reason. I'll save them, go to another app, come back and they're gone. ALSO, I notice a parallel between when I leave this app and have this issue and keyboard malfunctions. Something is going goofy. Still like the app but it's unstable so I'll have to use something else for now. Which is sad. This is the closest thing to Google Reader I've seen since they shut that down. 😭

Clean and looks nice but only shows a few items
iOS 16.2 For some reason I’m only seeing 6 or 7 entries per feed as you then get lots of empty entries. They are clickable but the items are blank.
Very good so far
This looks like a very good app and it's pretty easy to understand. Then again I've been using computers since the mid to late 80s, so there ya go. But still.... this IS easy!! This app works for me. I use it for the news sources I have, because I don't want to pollute my other RSS app with politics. I think we all need a break from politics from time to time, don't you? I would like this app to have two choices for when people open it up: 1- That the sidebar showing each news feed under it's own grouping is open upon opening the app and 2- in addition, to keep it's current setting. I like to have, say, all my ABC articles under one tab, all my DEF articles in another tab. I do not prefer the way it currently is, where I have to manually open the sidebar. Otherwise, this app is very simple and very easy. Also, I didn't check before leaving this review, and I can't close this review to go look, but what I would like to have is the ability to save individual articles in reader mode (no ads, just text) onto PDF. I also would like to have a favorites folder, organized by site, to store monumental articles.

It's exceedlingly simple. If you are just trying to read your news, saved reddit posts (what I use it for), or your journal articles without being to fussy or fancy. This is the app for you.

This app modernizes the RSS experience while respecting the minimal philosophy of RSS enthusiasts. I am very pleased with the app and its widgets.
Its bugged
Theres a bug, where if you scroll down your feed, articels dissapear and are invisible, pls fix. Apart from that its a good app.

1 ⭐ upd: thanks for responding. it wasn't my intention to necessary attack you or soething, no, i just had bad experience on my device and tried to describe it. i understand that this is a catalyst app, hope that in the future you'll be able to improve the exprience with it on macs. best luck to you!! feels very laggy in comparison to reeder, for example. large UI size, blurry fonts. i understand that mb air 2017 is not the greatest device, but it feels wrong and ported then a native application.

Abandonware
Hasn’t been updated in nearly half a year despite several bugs and lack of polish. Don’t waste your time.

More attractive and better UI than most other RSS apps, but unfortunately crashes anytime I try to play a video

As a new app, I hope it becoming better and better. I give this review just to tell the developer the bug I am suffering. Know it from Michael Tsai’s blog. I trust him, and download it. Give me the chance to use it please.
Better than ok
I’d been struggling with the rss readers in the app store. Every one of them is very pretty, fine, but every one of them mostly serves up whatever specific sources the developer wants me to see. Otter is beautiful, minimal, and functional. I add the rss, I get a list of headlines, and I can organize them by folder. Literally all I wanted. ….ok I wouldn’t be sad if there was a toggle option to turn on thumbail images on the screen preview list for articles, I do follow a lot of art blogs, but that’s it. Otherwise perfect. If that would mess up the wonderful design this app has, then better than perfect and forget I said anything at all.
Currently One Star
After importing my feeds it worked well, once. Now I cannot get it to update my feeds at all. No matter what setting I use or adjustments I make. I contacted support, but I have heard nothing yet. I will update this review once I have heard back from them. Hopefully, there is a fix.

Good app, still buggy
Would be the perfect RSS app however several bugs prevent it from being completely functional. Pull-to-refresh breaks if you have too many feeds. Share sheet button doesn’t do anything on the article view. Restoring purchases doesn’t work. Would recommend adding icons to the feeds. If fixed would be perfect.
OPML Support
Adding feedlist import/export in OPML format would be greatly appreciated!
Well designed and dang cute
This app might be described as "okayest" but I certainly think it's great! It syncs well between my phone and computer, and has a good balance between a straightforward, easy-to-use interface and customization where I need it. Plus, the app name and design are clever and adorable. You can tell the developers put a lot of love and thought into this. I love it and use it every day!
Crap App
Load RSS feeds. Close App. Re-open. NONE of my feeds appear.
Background app refresh
Can’t wait for automatic refresh to come to the app! However, the background app refresh is not working. I had the same number of unread feeds from what I did twelve hours ago on launch. I pulled down and did a refresh and 30+ articles popped into my feeds. So it appears that is not working.
Frustrated
It doesn’t function well, articles show up in duplicated often, articles had been marked as read will show up again as unread. Tried Uninstall-reinstall didn’t do anything. Urh!
pretty much perfect!
I just needed an RSS reader that was free and functional, and it is all that and more. The app is well-designed, it's pretty and minimal, and most importantly it does the job I need it to do. As one of those "hey if it works, it works" kind of people, I appreciate that it's an app that was pretty much born out of necessity and keeps things simple, and maybe that's why it's truly such an A app. And it's got on otter on the front. More things in life should be cute. Wonderful, thanks a lot for this app, Josh!
Can't get it to work
Edit: 1.0.4 still won't open my opml and I did email support and never got an answer Edit 2: got two responses here and still no email from support. Developer seems to care more about reviews than providing support Original "review": ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Easy to use, but very simple!
Easy to use, including importing an existing feed! It is great that it supports adding new feeds right in app, unlike others that require a service like Feedly to intermediate. The interface is simple and very clean. The animations are smooth! Only disappointing element is each article just opens a web wrapper. Therefore, unlike other RSS readers that give you a unified reading experience across publications, this merely links you to the site of the publisher. Some might like this, though personally I use RSS to provide me with one reading interface across each source I read. So I suppose it does give you a simple location to organize all the sites you read, but a similar experience could be had by bookmarking each site you frequent and visiting them directly.
Nothing special
This app has only base functionality, it’s slow and looks cheap. Crashes when l try to import an OPML file. Now it’s no chance in front of competitors.
Simple, Straightforward, Exactly what I needed
I just wanted an RRS feed that would easily show me what's new in my feeds without any fuss, and it does.

Love the minimal design
Love the minimal design. Would like slightly more if there was a share shortcut by long pressing an individual item. Otherwise I agree it’s the okayest RSS reader. Will keep using it. I like the iCloud sync.
