Development has improved, but the content is great
Much improved ! App is barely ever crashing/freezing now. I haven’t found a better option for learning Portuguese from Portugal. It’s great to hear real accents from real people. This language is hard to learn and to pronounce, so the native speakers are super helpful!
Terrible customer service
I have a paid subscription and my access is denied for no reason. The admin do not reply to contact in timely fashion.

It’s slow to launch, slow to navigate the pages
I am suggesting it to everyone who learns European Portuguese
This is the only good app that gradually teaches Português, I used it several months ago on desktop and it helped a ton comparing to other apps and even paying offline lessons. The only con is a price, even comparing to Duo, however since there is no alternative I can understand why Update: 2026 mobile application is not optimized at all and needs development supervision. 20 second enter time and indefinite login will frighten users. Suggestion is to setup at least Crashlytics to catch up errors and see tendencies where users fall apart. 2years without updates of the application that takes 15€ for a subscription is ridiculous

I couldn’t do anything it took so long to load and was very annoying I couldn’t even make an account
Development is lacking, good for learning European Portuguese
I will start with the good. This is the best app I have found for learning European Portuguese. This was super important to me since my fiancé is Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese is so different from European Portuguese that it was useless to learn Brazil Brazilian Portuguese if I want to speak with my fiancé in his native language. I love the fact that they use real speakers from Portugal to say the words and phrases. The lessons have been very useful and I like the ability to pick my review words and phrases. Now for the bad. The app is super glitchy and seriously lacking on the development side. I frequently have to close the app and restart it and it can often times be slow to load lessons. It’s also very slow to check your pronunciation. I like the fact that they have the ability to track your daily streaks as well as earned stars however, most of the time those things won’t show up on the app so you can’t really track your streak or compare yourself with other users if you like competition. I reached out to them about this problem and they were responsive, but their solution did not work. The last time they did any updates on this app was two years ago so they are not keeping up on. It’s usability from the development side, which is a bad sign for long-term usability as phones update and change. I also don’t like the fact that there’s no way to practice conversational Portuguese through this app.
App is to slow
We are in 2026, not in 2006, update the app, we are paying money for it! I probably will cancel my subscription next month, even though material is good, UX is intolerable
Great concept, very clunky
I would love to give this app a higher rating. The resources are really good, however the pages take ages to load. I cant progress through lessons with it saving my progress and it often doesn’t present buttons to complete a task. It needs a good once over by a UI developer and it would be the best Portuguese language service available
Exceeded Expectations!
I have experience with Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, and Babel previously (learning Spanish). So, I was disappointed when none of the leading names in the game offered EP. I started with Practice Portuguese (PP) the first month of my EP journey. I was unfamiliar with the format and bailed at the end of that first month. MAN! This app is FAR superior to other EP learning apps, and on a second consideration, it is much better that the leading competition. The top 3 reasons: Created for adult learners, who can understand and appreciate explanations of grammar and culture. The many YouTube videos, especially the animated stories, augment the material (and Rui has great energy-and easy on the eyes). This app levels from A1-C1. 💓
I can’t login in the app
It doesn’t let me in I know my email and password but it won’t let me.
Costs Too High
The app has a lot of information and they teach you to the point of exhaustion. If you want to learn how to be conversationally fluent this app is very expensive and long. They need to implement a “get by” section for those of us that don’t want a PhD in Portuguese.

Poor responsiveness of the app means I’ve given up before I’ve started. Too frustrating to navigate.

There are other programs like this now that are cheaper. The interface is hard to navigate and bit outdated. Meh

As others wrote the content is fantastic to learn Portuguese from Portugal but the app is very sluggish, slow and often hangs.
Exceptional
I was a bit hesitant hesitant to use this app, but European Portuguese is limited in its options when learning. I took a chance and I am not disappointed! The app is amazing. It starts off building a foundation, explaining the words and reviewing your pronunciation. It gives great additional information on when it would be appropriate to use and has so many additional resources of videos, podcasts, and review sheets. It contains multiple people to hear a variety of different native speakers to assist you. I am spending hours learning in this app and I am very impressed at what I already am learning.
Fake reviews?
Im confused about the good reviews. Each action is extremely slow to load. I thought maybe I could develop patience and try paying for it anyway, but on the sign-up page, there is no submit button. Im sure glad I didn’t pay for it, as it seems unusable. Im sure the content has value but between the extremely slow load times and being unable to sign up, I don’t think these guys are tech-ready.
Looks neat, but slow
At first I was thinking it doesn’t work - shows only white screen. But when content appears, I understood that it’s just slow.
Podcasts are better than the app
They have great podcasts but the mobile app offers a mediocre experience and looks like a wrapper for a website without any actual adaptation for mobile.
Great Program, Slow App
I’ve found Practice Portuguese to be the best resource for learning outside of professional lessons. I would request some improvements to the app. It is very slow to load and not usable offline. I would like it if the data was stored on device (or at least what’s necessary to get through lessons). Also, it’s not possible to zoom in on the images, making them difficult to read when on a phone. I would like the ability to save images from the phone app or be able to zoom
The best app for learning European Portuguese
200 million people speak Brazilian Portuguese, and there and plenty of resources for learning it. European Portuguese… not so much. Given the limited apps for learning the language, you might want to forgo learning it. Don’t! Practice Portuguese is a phenomenal resource for learning the language. There are smart flash cards, lessons, videos, short audio, and more. It’s structured in a way that makes it easy to work through units while allowing you to easily skip around or answer questions about pronunciation, grammar, social norms, etc. I pay for the upgrade and it’s worth every penny. Support is helpful and quick too!
Non functional
Just downloaded app and every time I try to make an account (I click on sign up) it just takes me back to the home page.
Great resource for European Portuguese
This is a fun app and a great way to learn European Portuguese, especially if you need to learn the accent. I studies several years on Duolingo (Brazilian Portuguese) but PP helped me get familiar with the differences between BP and EP. I wish there were a way to take tests and level up, so you could skip things you know. Also, the app doesn’t always work the way it should. I almost always do lessons on my phone. Maybe the website is less glitchy. I love watching the videos and shorties. The transcription and translation features are genius. I also like that you can slow the rate of speech down - .7 é perfeito para mim. Now if I can just get people to talk that devagar when I visit Portugal in October…🙃
App is too slow
I agree that this app is the best to learn European Portuguese but unfortunately I’m giving low stars because the app is too slow on each page and it becomes overwhelming a lot. Even sometimes, it makes me close the app and remember the same issue when I want to continue later. I’m literally waiting minimum of 30s-1m on whatever tab I click on the main screen, or just to get an information, even with a really fast connection. It happens also on your website as well. If you don’t have a proper software developer, I’d be at least happy to help to contribute to the future of this app. Please fix this issue and I’m pretty sure you will get more subscribed users

Can’t access activities
I wanted to see what the activities were like before subscribing because $20 a month is a lot, but all it will let me do is read an article on how to get started.. In response to the developer: saying “most features require a paid subscription” actually isn’t that clear. “Most” implies that there will be something unpaid in order to trial before buying. It’s disappointing because I might actually have gotten the subscription if I could have some semblance of what I would be paying for.
Great learning poor app performance
Just don’t like how the app can take long to load sometimes and occasionally crash. But the actual lessons are great, I feel like I’m learning at a pretty fast rate.
Too glitchy and repetitive
The app constantly crashes, or takes forever to get to the next question. It makes studying an absolute drag. For the price they charge, it’s really not good enough

Best language learning app their is
I’m about to renew for the third year. This app is amazing. The duo behind this app offer a lot of free information on the web, YouTube, and other platforms. But it’s well worth investing in this app to get access to the rest of their content. There’s a lot of it! It’s so well organized and you have the option of working your way through structured lessons, jumping about to specific topics, and practicing your favourite verbs. I bought so many different apps to learn European Portuguese, but this one is the one that I have kept using. It’s an extensive collection of videos, audio, and text. With easy to use tests to check your learning progress.

Can’t do anything without paying!! Does not state that it’s a pay app. I avoid apps that are not upfront, hidden costs not acceptable
Couldn’t purchase
App was super laggy. Tried to buy subscription on the website and it’s broken too…buy button never showed up on the buy page. Wish it worked as the content looked awesome

I mean it’s a really buggy app. Can’t even make an account. The bouton keeps bugging and the loading screen keeps reappearing again. The app since interesting to learn portuguese but it’s not worth much if it doesn’t let me pay
Love this app
This app is amazing. There are so many resources, audio recordings of EVERYTHING, super detailed explanations of grammatical concepts better than anything else I've seen. If you are trying to learn EU Portuguese, there really isn't a better resource out there. It’s easy, fun to use, the support is stellar, and you can tell that creators of this app know a lot about the science of language learning.

It’s only been 3 months, and I have been learning european portugués so fast my partner’s family is portugal is so impressed haha. This app is so much better than ones like Duolingo that i have tried before for other languages! The written lessons, shorties, translation tools, and so much more make it so perfectly designed to learn the language. Keep it up, i love it!
