Blocks YT shorts perfectly!
I’ve been using this for almost two months now, and it was exactly what I was looking for: to block YT shorts on my iPhone, without installing some sketchy app. Blockit doesn’t require granting any permissions, so I don’t need to worry about my information being transmitted. Of course, the tradeoff on the secure design is that this only works on safari, so I cannot use the nicer YT app, but I do not mind that (and I don’t have the time to figure out how to sideload a modified YT). I did find that for Instagram, the website is a PWA, so I can add the website directly to my home screen and it works exactly like the normal app minus the annoying reels. I don’t mind a yearly subscription if it means the blocker will keep blocking.
No longer works
Updated the app and no longer works unless I pay a yearly subscription
fab app
no reason to be a bloody subscription though. even if it is cheap would have preferred a one time payment but good value for what it is (it's more than a userscript!)
Inconsistent
It use to work great, but now it only blocks the Instagram feed sometimes. Sometimes it blocks it. Often it doesn’t.
Good App for blocking, but instagram doesn’t work
Great app for blocking most things, But it fails to block suggested posts on instagram. The whole idea for me wanting this app is to prevent endlessly scrolling content. These suggested posts are 90% reels.
Absolutely fantastic, but I have a suggestion (if possible) that I would spend more money for
This thing is perfect. I NEVER see shorts, never see garbage on Facebook or Instagram. it works like a charm, it is an amazing app and I’m so grateful for it. I’ve gotten actual hours of my life back I wasted on shorts from this alone. I have a small idea though.. Recently, YouTube has become ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous. There are dumb polls and “posts” from people I don’t follow clogging up the recommended videos from channels I really do enjoy. I wanted to ask if possible whether #blockit could ever receive an update to remove these. It’s no big deal if not, but I’d seriously pay an up-charge just to never see some politically baiting post again from an annoying prick. I have carefully curated my life to not involve the stupidity of the modern internet, and #blockit has been a lifesaver for it, but I’d so appreciate and love that additional change. Highly recommend!
Worked well but then….
This app worked well for a month or so but now it doesn’t block ANYTHING from IG. Works great for YouTube but I paid for the year and it literally no longer works to block anything from IG
Wonderful app that saved my decaying mind
My only complaint or request is to make it that you can disable reading comment sections on anything, but beyond that it’s a solid app

Its worth a few euros per year
Great app that serves its thing perfectly. Haven't had any bugs or issues. The only thing that the developers should improve is the overall design of the app. It is designed cheaply. The app would be way more enjoyable to use with better looks.
Not amazing if you want to be able to post
This would be so much better through the app instead of the website version as im wanting to limit my consumption but be able to post stories, reels and posts to my business still, thats not really possible through the website version so in this case this app is not super great for that

The ONLY thing that’s worked
I cannot praise this app enough. After trying so many apps, hardware solutions, blocking websites, and struggling for 4 years, I finally found this app and it solved my chronic screen addiction immediately, now in my 3rd year of using it. I blocked YouTube shorts/suggested, Instagram stories/explore/reels, and various websites. I can still access Instagram chat and watch YouTube, but it blocks the stuff meant to keep you addicted. Wish this app was made when I was younger. Get this for yourself and your kids if you have them.
Switch from lifetime to subscription
As others have said, the switch from a lifetime purchase to a recurring subscription without notification or opt-out is illegal and an immoral bait-and-switch. Gives me no confidence I’ll be able to keep using the app, even if I subscribe (which I wouldn’t on principle). Absolute trash move. 1 star.
Works like a charm
As somewho who is easily distracted by feeds on Youtube & reddit. It saved my productivity. I hope that the ability to disable feeds could extend to some other major sites like yahoo.co.jp or hk01.com.
Subscription Model
I'm disappointed to discover you've switched to subscription model for all functionality. I understand the reasoning, unfortunately, but it's left me in a bit of a lurch around finals time. Still, the rates are quite reasonable and, again, I respect that this is more on the social media sites being jerks than on the app creator. Thank you for not discontinuing altogether.
Recommended posts not being blocked
Disappointed that after paying for this app, recommended posts stop being blocked on instagram. Still good for removing reels and explore page but not working entirely as intended.
Does the job, does require subscription tho
I enjoy how intentional I’ve become on social media with using this app. I just go in, search for what I want, and come right back out. There’s no worry of being tempted with recommended videos, friends stories, unnecessary LinkedIn posts. Yes you need to pay to get in, I don’t really mind it, personally it has been worth it to me, and may be to you if you relate to anything I mentioned.

Doesn’t seem to block shorts on YouTube.
His claimed to block shorts on YouTube, so I bought I for that reason. It does t block them at all on my safari browser. Subscription feed is still full of useless shorts.
Subscription and Chromium support
This is not the type of product that can demand a subscription. I’ll gladly pay a one time payment like every other extension, but not a subscription. Moreover, please add support for chromium browsers, for that I’ll gladly pay.
Changed my life
This app changed my life. I am finally free from my social media addiction. I can go on Youtube and see ONLY my subscription feed, and watch a video and there are no comments or suggested videos. I can go on reddit ONLY for a post I found on google. If I do want to scroll, I can disable the blocks and then enable them again when I'm done.

Works well
The Good: This works well. There is currently a bug where it is not blocking stories on Facebook but everything else seems to be functional. The Bad: This app used to be a one-time purchase and now the developer is charging an annual fee. If you would like to charge a subscription, please use it to keep updating the app (e.g. fix the Facebook stories issue) The Ugly: even though I bought the app when it was a one-time purchase I have been switched to paying an annual fee. I'm not really upset at the cost, I would probably still subscribe if I didn't get a grandfathered price -- I'm upset that app developers have the ability (and implicit permission from Apple) to switch up on you and start charging again when you thought the deal was done.
Worth it !!
I rarely give reviews on apps but I feel like this app truly deserves a good review. It has helped me curve my phone addiction so much and along with it my spending habit. I am a loyal user and I encourage everyone to try it. Great app and the value it provides is well worth the subscription.
Disappointing Move
I’ve used this service and has been a huge help with my productivity and be less distracted. It was a simple pay once and use it. However it seems the developers decides to jump on the subscription bandwagon, revoking my license and hit me with a paywall. I refuse to pay anymore, especially how my access is taken away, and was begged to pay more. I will look elsewhere unless this decision has been looked at. I haven’t forgotten back when apps was pay once and is yours ordeal, sadly ever since the wave of subscriptions, this is starting to make the AppStore less usable and more predatory. Please reconsider.

What exact functionality requires this app to have a subscription rather than a one time payment? Update. Thanks for the response. That's however was not my experience. For me, on my phone, the app that was previously working stopped working. Luckily I was quickly able to find a good alternative.

Another one bites the dust. The shift from a lifetime service model to a subscription-based app is becoming an increasingly frustrating trend among companies and app developers. A quick search in the #BlockIt’s reviews will reveal many customers that feel alienated by unanticipated and unprompted change. We were initially drawn to the app for its promise of a one-time purchase and now face unexpected ongoing costs. The developer forced everyone’s hand by pushing the change via an automatic update. It is genuinely surprising how this is not against Apple’s terms and conditions. #BlockIt’s developer’s choice is unfortunate because it has certainly resulted in lost revenue from good reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations. Instead of fostering long-term loyalty, they have instead chosen to damage their reputations and eroding the trust of their customer base—all for a few bucks. Just think of all the high praises and recommendations from those who paid the initial lifetime fee, if the developer would have simply honored their end. I like many will not being resubscribing. The issues and errors blocking certain areas of webpages like Instagram and Reddit was acceptable under a lifetime fee—but unacceptable under a subscription. On to the next.
Great but now I’m restricted?
SO excited about being able to block junk on Instagram. Was working excellently but suddenly I’ve been “restricted” from my instagram account. Really hope I can use this, Blockit can you help??
Great when working
It’s great when it works - which is some of the time. Frequently, when changing tabs on Safari to go into Instagram, the extension will appear to stop working entirely and I can see everything like normal. To fix this, I’ll need to close and restart Safari. I hope this can be fixed as when working I absolutely love it!
Been using this app for years
Does exactly what it says. Keeps me from doom scrolling, highly recommend. The small upfront 4 dollar cost for the year saves me 10’s of hours.

Ig app explore page is bugged
I just paid for this thinking I can enable my home feed and disable the explore page but it doesn’t work . You can only disable both or just the home feed. Idk if they give refunds .
