What people like
- Hearing test helps correct for hearing loss
- Easy to use and quick setup
- Makes your headphones sound much better
What they complain about
- Supports only four specific headphones
- Does not work with Apple Music or Spotify
- Useless unless you buy the Mac subscription
Sound is problem
To the creaters of sound I’d can u please make the app on iOS devices to where we can select different brands of headphones please and thank u
Useless
Requires one of 4 very specific headphones to work, otherwise kicks you to the curb. Can't access the A/B, let alone even see any of the app functionalities to see what it *could* do. Don't bother, even for research purposes.
iOS
Not working in iOS devices please launch iOS version
Only shows three headphones models
For some reason there’s no headphones profiles at all like a few BT models and ear buds a shame cuz even trailer shows all the pro studio headphones.
No Availability Headphone Options
There’s no option to pick another headphone brand other than the pandas. Although the official website states most headphones are compatible including the Sony which I have.
Helped my Momentum 2’s
They typically have a over boosted bass in my opinion, but with this app I was able to EQ some of it out and really clear up the sound. The app Is really simple and fast as well. Would recommend.
Crashes with ios 26
The application crashes with the latest version of iOS when uploading to my monoprice monolith earbuds
Looks good
Only good because of ui and don’t know why my turtle beach 50 headphones arent that old the app should be better and accept all headphones wether there old and new
Amazing sound - Zero application
The in-app test and set-up work great and sound amazing. Exited to try it on my own music I discover it cannot be linked to anything. No spotify, no apple music. Nothing more than a useless tease
No iOS?
Finding the ideal setting for my Sony WMX3 earbuds was a piece of cake. But, the app doesn’t work with iOS, bit pointless really.
I love this app, changes the feel of headphones for the better
I love this app, changes the feel of headphones for the better, plenty of headphones they have done eq for but for some reason all of my headphones I put in the app are gone on pc and app now? Only my audiotechica ATH-AD700x are still on it. None the less, this program is a game changer
Not compatible with AirPods
I researched for an app that could give personalization to the audio for my AirPods Pro, and I found SoundID. It seemed very promising, but when I opened the app, it wouldn’t let me proceed until I had picked one of FOUR earbuds that I had never heard of. This app does not work for standard earbuds like AirPods, beats, JBL, or anything. Before you download, make sure your earbuds are compatible.
Great for owners of supported headphones.
I love the value it adds to my Drop THX Pandas. I actually bought them because of the integration with this app. I have had moments of finicky-ness with syncing eq profiles but I’m not sure if that’s due to the headphones or the app. But it’s never taken more than 2 tries to successfully sync. It would be really cool to be able to have multiple custom presets for when you have a sound you like and want to see if it could be tweaked to be better but dont want to lose a good sound or go through the 15 minutes it would take to painstakingly recreate your eq profile. It’s not really feasible to manually save and recall custom eq presets because of the lack of db readings to the 10ths place, so -2 db could mean -2.1 or -2.9. Even just 3 slots would be a welcome addition!
Headphone weren’t on the list and when I tried ones that were they got worse
My Sony wh-xb900n headphones aren’t on the list of Sony’s headphones, and when I had borrowed a friend’s headphones that were on the list we both agreed that after 2 hours of messing with the app all it did was make the audio worse.
Confused
How do I know if my SoundId is working? I play music on Spotify I hear no difference?
Pure Listening Pleasure
"SoundID works with the phone, speakers, or laptop you already have and delivers an instant upgrade to your listening pleasure. You no longer have to be in an ideal audiophile listening environment to experience the mix as it was intended for your ears. Best of all, your personalized SoundID is saved and can be used with any new devices or speakers that you may use in the future."
Doesn’t connect
Did everything in troubleshooting and it never connected. Deleted.
Impressively good!
Pretty good! Just wish classical music was an option for the tests.
Disappointing
As someone who uses Sonarworks when working on headphones in my DAW, I was excited to see an iOS app... but for some reason, it doesn’t do anything to improve your iOS listening experience outside of the app. I was impressed with my “Sound Profile” after I went through the set up, but the corrective EQ is only active when you’re in their app, and I can’t listen to my music from there... So I guess if you’re like me, somebody who was excited at the possibility of having Sonarworks on my phone, you’ll probably be disappointed too. If they ever make this work like their Reference software does, I’ll come back to the app in a heartbeat and likely change my tune.
Not quite there yet
Big disappointment that calibration really only works on 4 specific types of headphones. Any common pairs like airpods or studio headphones, you are limited to listening to pointless little ringtone type songs within the app. You CANNOT listen to streaming services, or anything else. And unfortunately, even if you DO have one of the four that can save Sound Id profiles on it, they don’t connect half the time, I find myself constantly hitting “forget this device” and re-pairing my headphones to get the app to recognize them. Please work on this more, it has SUCH POTENTIAL.
Very cool idea
This is an awesome and innovative concept, really excited to start relistening to all of my favorite songs with my new customized SoundID!
iOS is fishy
I feel like apple has a hold on you here. I use SoundID formally Sonarworks Reference on my Mac since the dawn of time and its amazing. Checked out this app hoping I can get a similar experience but looks like this is only a marketing gimmick.
Drop THX finally connects (needs firmware update)
Update your headphone firmware if you can’t connect. Unclear if the settings chosen stick with the headphones without the mac applications. Seems like not? Cool to see it working either way
Account ID
Would like to connect multiple Account IDs as in Created with Google but also connect Apple ID as is possible with WordPress for example so as to not create multiple duplicate accounts.
IOS Version Confusion
Hello! I see that there’s a chance this will be able to work on IOS. Is there any update on when that might be? It would be incredible to be able to use this app across the entire IOS audio. Also, is there a decibel slider in the app somewhere like in the OS version?
Great concept!
The concept is great and I loved the ability to get a customized sound profile after choosing which ”sounds better.” However I wanted to sample my sound profile using my connected Spotify premium account, and whenever I click on a track, the song doesn’t play? Pretty significant bug if I can’t hear what my own music sounds like with the new profile. Edit: used the wrong email to log in to my Spotify account. Works great and makes my AirPods sound like expensive headphones
Pretty much pointless on Apple
There’s only 4 headphones supported and they are very unpopular headphones that most people don’t have so I’m not really sure what the point of this app is on Apple. I know on android there’s 400 or so supported headphones. Maybe this is more on apples fault than SoundID but either way this app is pretty much a waste of time on IOS.
Lots of potential
I really like what Sonarworks have done with this app. I especially love the hearing optimisation feature as it specifically corrects for the mild to moderate hearing loss I have on just my right ear. It’s a really thoughtful feature as one day we’ll all experience hearing loss to some degree. I think it would be great if one day the Sound ID could somehow be used with (or ported to) other apps, e.g. for listening to Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc. with the Sound ID enabled. Also would be great to have support for the Sennheiser HD 560s, although looking at the already sizeable headphone library, I’m confident Sonarworks will get around to it. Keep up the great development work and hopefully more and more features, such as those suggested above, come to fruition one day soon.
Bose QC30
Completed all sound test and signed up for 30 day trial. App allows you to add 1 track at a time, instead of a playlist and it didn’t retain the songs I added. Maybe you’ll have better luck!
JLab Studio Pro
Add please.
Dope!
I thought the app on both iOS and OS worked seamlessly. The sound profiles are interesting to me, especially as a mixing engineer. Feel like after I did all the test, my hearing experience was accurate! Felt like I was hearing bass, especially real low notes better than I have before!
Useless
Only supposed four headphone models. If you have any other pair of headphones like 99% of us do, you’re out of luck.
question
so i did my sound id i think it’s pretty cool but does it connect to other apps?? like if i leave the app and listen to apple music will my headphones still be modified?? thank you!!
Interesting concept...but
Installed this on my iPhone 7 yesterday and went through the personalization steps for my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 cans. I know I have hearing damage from years of firearms and construction noise. Especially in the right ear. I think the sound was improved, but I'm only able to play the generic sample tune. The app won't let me sign into my Spotify premium account, which I've had for years. I would really like to be able to use this on my lossless iTunes files. Songs I really know, so I can tell if things have improved sonically. Two stars for now, let's see what happens.
Regarding the most recent update
Hello there! I wanted to point out that since the most recent update (2021.01.11), there has been a disconnect between the iOS application and the SoundID app on a Windows 10 computer: preference updates don’t seem to sync as expected to Windows and appear to be overridden by the existing profile on Windows. I’ve tested this by creating a test (custom) preference (with dramatically reduced low-end frequencies) - but the audio profile on my Windows machine continues to sound the same and doesn’t appear to update. Also, the app will change the icon/symbol set when a custom profile is selected, but is soon overridden by whatever icons/symbols were shown in the SoundID app on Windows. I’ve tried uninstalling the app completely on all of my devices and deleting my profile, but the issue persists. Otherwise, I appreciate the effort you all have put into the app, and look forward to being an ongoing user!
Nice!
Easy to use, can try for free and pair with a desktop 60-day trial. Anyone familiar with Sonarworks will see a familiar approach, now with individualized preference, and hearing, profile testing for a lot of popular headphones. Worth checking out!
Doesn’t work
Unable to connect my drop pandas even with trying to get help from the troubleshoot it keeps saying “Unable to connect” “Something went wrong while connecting your headphones”
Does Nothing For Your iOS Device
SonarWorks Review: SoundID [Edit: Added stars after Sonarworks granted Tru-Fi users a license; this address my “abandonware” complaint. Thank you.] TL;DR - With SoundID (iOS), SonarWorks would like to provide input, personal profiles, into their MacOS “SoundID Listen” product. Pros: - Hasn’t crashed - Nice design - The company is responsive - Good intentions - Excellent promise Cons: - SoundID does...nothing?... for your iOS device at this time. I wish there were no ratings for this sort of utility. This is not an iOS equalizer. In fact, this is nothing for your iOS device. I believe it is primarily a utility for the SonarWorks MacOS application, “SoundID Listen.” As such, it should not even be given a rating in the iOS App Store. It is a companion utility app. I’d like to thank SonarWorks for clarifying the cost of their iOS app. Paying nothing for an iOS app that does nothing for my iOS device seems fair. It works with a $44 a year subscription for their MacOS applicaiton to be useful today. Be sure to check SonarWork’s website to see if they have support for your headphones before spending $44 a year.
Needs a lot of work
I like the idea, but the app really is barebones right now. My headphones are listed, but only with wired profiles. Would be good to add wireless profiles too. Also the login process doesn’t work really well, had to click on the activation email a couple times, and kill the app a couple times before I could log in. Currently I would only give 2 stars though i’ll give 3 in hope of future improvements
Fake results to entice you buy their Mac app
I spent 10-15 mins going through all three tests. The process was kinda fun and I enjoyed the different demo loops they had. When I got to the end I connected to Spotify and played a few songs I was familiar with and both the “on” and “off” had a different sound then I was used to. I swap over to the actually Spotify app and play the same songs and it actually sounded better then both modes on the Sound ID app. So it seems as if they are artificially making the “off” sound worse so that the “on” sounds like a major improvement when really it’s not, (at least for me). The fact that the iOS app does nothing after this is pretty dumb. Aside form “testing” music from Spotify in the app, it’s not an actual music player so after the setup is done you can’t really do anything unless you pay the money for the Mac-only app subscription. So yeah, fun for a while but ultimately I am uninstalling this app.
Love this App!
I discovered Sound ID from being a Sonarworks user for years and I am equally as happy with this as I am Reference 4! I hope to be able to be an audio engineer into my later years and I feel that this app will play a huge roll in me being able to do that effectively. The A-B identification process was straight forward, accurate, and I was really happy with my ID profile at the end! Excited to see the further development of this app.
Only 4 supported headphones? What?!
I don’t understand what’s going on here. On the desktop app sonarworks supports an incredible amount of headphone profiles, and in the videos I watched it seemed like that was the case for the mobile app too, but when I downloaded it for iOS in the setup it’s only giving me 4 headphone options, rather obscure ones at that. None of which I have. I can’t seem to get around having to choose one, so I’m not sure if I could use this app in any way. I don’t really care if they have my headphone profile, all I want is to access a custom eq so I can bring down a high shelf and cut down on ear fatigue from these bright headphones, but can’t figure it out how to get past the setup. Help! Am I missing something? I’ve had a lot of respect for sonarworks until now so I’m really vexed by what they’ve made here
Sounds great but has one sight problem
I just have problem when will we be able to use the app instead just using the try out I would love to pay for it but I can’t use it for the lab top I have a phone and would rather use it there
Add support for Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro
App only supports a few headphones and doesn't really help if you're headphones aren't on that list. Please add support for the: Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro
Great sound
Finally an app that allows me to hear my music with a quality that was made for me. Ez to use and setup.
Guess my Expectations Were Too High
I had written before about the lack of accessibility of this app for blind folks. I had hoped the developers might actually do the right thing and make this app useable by everyone. I suppose that is still too much to ask.
Great but where are my headphones?
Simple to use, great interface, and the resulting sound is amazing. My only complaint is that not all of my headphones are listed. The standard Razer Kraken, Beats urBeats3, and Audio-Technica ATH-CK3TW are not options. All of my Sony cans are on there. I just wish the gear I use most with my phone was on here.
Great but hearing test not working.
I installed the app and ran the preferences section. I noticed a significant improvement. Then I started the hearing test. The first two tones were present but the app stalled when the third tone was played. I have an iPad Pro 11 inch running iOS 13.4.1.
