Promising App with Poor Results and Support

I’ve tried several workarounds to get the treble booster and other recent updates but have failed. I may be misunderstanding a requirement, but it seems like I only needed to have made a purchase this year, which I did on my iPad. Overall, I also feel the tones are just not quite worth the hype either. Other people love the app, so I’m probably an outlier. Feeling a bit ripped off.

Awesome sounding app, not so great UI

I love this app and the way it sounds. But even after using it for such a long time i still wish the knobs itself could be turned at your fingertips instead of having to use the sliders in the side bar. It is just not intuitive and literally all amp sims/fx apps on ios use the touchscreen to adjust the knobs instead of using sliders in a side menu. I was hoping version 2.0 would finally offer this function, but still no go. This is almost the only app on iOS that doesn’t properly utilize touch screen in that way.

Midi issues with current version

UPDATE 6.23.25: Soon after my review was posted (although written a few days prior) the app was updated and the midi and rig player issues were fixed! AND THEY ADDED THE DOUBLER AND TRANSPOSER which were new features in the new desktop version. The doubler makes my guitars sound huge!!! Upgraded my rating from 4 stars to 5. I would give it 10 if I could The current version, 1.5.6 has many issues with midi. Pretty much doesn’t work. There’s also an issue with rig player temporarily locking up if you move your pedals around in your effects chain. Previous versions worked perfect. This app used to be so stable, never had any issues with it until now. It’s probably an incompatibility issue with iOS 18.3. I would hold off updating to this version. Although I believe support is on top of the issues. This is not a knock on the app, just a psa for users. Other than these recent issues, this app is fantastic! Some of the best amp modeling you can get. The desktop version is ridiculously great as well. Just the best all around amp modeling you can get for mobile and desktop. Tech support is great as well. In-app purchases are very affordable too. Thanks Overloud folks!

GOP organizer will NOT do swells

Just threw away 10$ on gop organizer - the attack control does NOTHING, meaning that thu’s claim that this effect lets you do swells is flat out untrue This same effect works great in bias fx2 - sadly bias doesn’t work with logic, which is why I turned to thu - BIG disappointment! :-(

Awesome tone but have awful crashes

I have THU and a bunch of Nembrini apps and GE Labs. So far I prefer using the rig manager in the American classics bank. THU might actually deliver the best tones of the entire bunch. But on my iPad mini 5 running the latest iOS 14, I will get lots of crashes with THU. Some of the crashes will completely freeze up the iPad and I will have to wait until before restarting the entire iPad. Other people on the Audibus forum report no such issues at all. So I’m hoping that eventually this sort itself out or I can find a way to stop the crashes.

Does not work on the new M4 iPad Pro

Does not work on the new M4 iPad Pro using Focusrite Scarlett USB audio interface at all. I have other modeling apps including TonStack Pro and Amplitude that work without a single tweak. Overloud TH-U does not sense the input signal and does not send any signals to the output on the Focusrite. The Focusrite has the lights to show the signal path so it is very simple to isolate the problem.

Cool App

I‘m wonder what can you do just with mobile device :) The UI is better compared to other Apps, but the output signal has more noise compared to Bias FX or does the noice belongs to the simulation? Also not very nice is, that the Full- Pack does not contain different Rigs. You need to buy them separately. The price is a little bit high. I would expect a Full Pack that unlocks all -pay once and get all. Bias FX was half of the price for the complete package. I personally would also like some Presets related to Pink Floyd or Mark Knopfler :)

TH-U is a waste of money without IAA and IR support.

So the app is easy to use, adding and tweaking “gear” is quite clean and the tones you can get from it are just ok. The app does disappoint with a lack of impulse response support (overload claims it will be added sometime in the future)nor you can use IAA to load IR using something like Fiddlicator. It’s very expensive and even after buying the “full” license you still not getting all the gear. Rig player included is a sudo kemper but you are limited only to in app profiles (these are like dlcs quite costly) and you can’t create your own, I believe this is why there’s no impulse response support so people would start buying these “dlcs” to expand their amp/cab library’. Signal splitter is a nice addition if you plan to use it in live application. I tried to like this app but mooer’s gelabs is just better and FREE!

Terrific FX, Not fully implemented

The old saying goes, guitar sims are good on guitars, and great on everything else. This is no exception, I think the best deal here is for the FX package that gets you a ton of iOS effects very cheaply. These work in stereo, they work without any guitar stuff interfering, they are absolutely studio grade processors for AUM or your iOS DAW. You also get models you’ve already bought on desktop for $1 fee. The negatives are that the preset handling and MIDI implementation and general UI is full of jank to the point of near unusability. AUM Presets will be lost at random times leaving you with a blank pedalboard…you need to save presets internally to THU always. They have their own MIDI mapping thing where they don’t publish out to the plug-in interface so you have to see what can work there I still haven’t dug into it. When AUM gets into a memory crunch it can bail out the THU plugs before it does others, suggesting they have some bloated cross-platform library or something in use. Finish the product! But it’s hard to complain too hard with this deal and I even bought some of the individual modules like the Blue Sky and the Binson Echorec. And just because they put a pedal UI on a processor doesn’t make it worse than the ones that have a rack UI. They are one of many choices in desktop but there’s nothing quite this extensive on iOS and they should get rid of the jank to earn a certified hit.

Misleading premium bundle description

I purchased the premium bundle and the description said “this is the most complete pack and includes everything in fx, amp, cab and distortion packs”. But there are standard rock and blues items like American super 66 amp & cab and some pedals that require separate purchases again and are not included in premium - most people buying a premium pack would expect this and you wouldn’t know about it unless you go compare some comparison tables somewhere even if it was linked to - and it’s not. Even items created with some artists are not included in premium. If it wasn’t for this issue, I would have been satisfied with my purchase.

Great sound, awful user interface

In my quest for a good iPad pedalboard I’ve tried literally all the apps around. There’s no question that this app really sounds good. The amp and cabinet sounds are great. The stomp sounds are great. The user interface however is diabolically bad. Even the competition’s free versions offer a better user interface - I’ve never tapped so much in an app to be able to do something. Editing is infuriating, the zooming in and out is infuriating, the constant scrolling back and forth is mind numbing, and the fact that you can’t grab a dial and turn it, like every single other guitar fx sim in the App Store, is a total deal breaker. To run together any sort of chain is to spend your time opening and closing the edit window and then zooming out and then tapping and then editing and then closing ad nauseum. In short, Sound great, useability, zero.

On second thoughts...

I was initially unhappy about the need to register via facebook or google, but now that requirement seems to have gone (I hope it was something I said :D) I can repeat the other part of my initial review by saying that these amps do sound pretty damn good. I haven't yet bought any of the packs but the base ones sound good enough to extend the collection, and it's only shortness of xmas cash that stopped me getting some in the recent sales. Also, I don't think they are particularly expensive - not that dissimilar to Bias or Tonestack. Just because a full range of gear is provided, it doesn't mean you have to actually buy them all, that's like criticising a music shop for having too much stock...

★☆☆☆☆ United States · v1.4.7 · 22 Nov 2021

Pretty Lame

OK…. here’s a few things that make this a rather weak Guitar Fx processor. 1) It’s not overly intuitive to build out your signal chain (or pedalboard). There’s already a few of these on the market (Amplitube, Bias and others); sooOOooo there’s no reason NOT to learn from these on how to make it easy [keyword EZ] to build out your signal path. You’ve got down to the corner of the screen and hit a plus button and stuff…..it’s rather confusing. You also DO NOT see the path routing; aka the patch cables between fx or amps in the signal path, which makes it more confusing. 2) Quality - I was looking for a harmonizer. They have one; but it doesn’t have the EXPECTED features. Again, harmonizers have been out for DECADES….just look at the best ones and provide the same functionality. Their software DOES NOT have a pitch adjustment like +/- cents to give that “thicker” sound. I don’t think their product has a delay for the harmonizer. These are common on all of the better software/rack units. Ideally you should be about to route the harmonized notes to a separate output than the original if you want to put different fx on those notes. 3) Instead of having actual knobs and sliders that work ::: to adjust the fx pedal a side screen comes up with a set of adjustment controls. REALLY? That’s like 1990s software design. Other vendors in the market have knobs that REALLY turn to adjust things, but not THU. Overall….the product seems CHEAP. I wish I HAD NOT wasted my money on it. Churned in CBus

Good app, some defects, terrible customer service and some false advertisement along the way.

I’ve tried to contact you guys a good 3-4 times with the same question but it’s been at least a good half year of updates and no reply from you at all: TH-U FULL - I bought it on release and only 6 months later there’s already around 12 “modules” I cannot use unless I purchase them. They also amount to up to 40-60 extra dollars Id have to pay to get them. Update: “AHHHHHH MY BAD!” Just realized it is now called “THU PREMIUM”, no longer FULL.... false advertisement I guess? Lol... Hey, I still got a ton for what I paid - but companies have to understand that often we value more loyalty, decency and honesty than “good deals” which trick you into something that isn’t what it actually was insinuating to be. When I buy “FULL” I actually expect “FULL”, not half of it. Changing the name afterwards doesn’t actually make me feel less tricked. If anything it just makes you look shadier. If I could at least remove from the scrolling panels all those modules I can’t access cause I haven’t “bought” (and will never “buy”, because technically I should own them), at least they wouldn’t clutter my interface and look me in the eye asking for my money (which they already got) while I’m working. Since they went out of their way to constantly push these pricetags around your face, using this app is a constant reminder that I was tricked into purchasing something for substantially more money than I was willing to spend, under the impression I would be getting a killer deal for the lifetime of the product - at this point it’s kinda obvious a year or two down the line I will technically own less than 20 percent of the library available even though I paid for “FULLMIUM”. At least make it so we can actually drag the knobs around, please? I mean everyone has been asking for this since day 1. That would be a worthy update - instead of all of these rigs that are not even part of the “FULL” package. At least I wouldn’t be reminded with each update that I am getting nothing new from this app. Or fix the looper already, these are things me and many more have asked for months now.
