Trusted and fast
Absolutely worth every cent, it’s the only subscription I hope I can keep forever. I just won’t even attempt to own or use a smartphone if I don’t have the vpn running 24/7. This app provides exactly what I am looking for, straight forward, priced fairly, and it is absolutely effective. Love it all. Thank you.
iCloud+ Private Relay still not working after 2.4.6 app update
The 2.4.6 app update did not fix the problem with Lockdown interfering with iCloud+ Private Relay. If you are receiving pop-up notices that Private Relay doesn’t work with your cellular plan or your wireless network (when it did before), the reason is the Lockdown firewall. The solution is to turn the Lockdown firewall off. Once you turn the Lockdown firewall off, Private Relay will function normally again. Advice from the developer to delete and reinstall the app, and remove any remaining VPN network profile does not work. This is on an iPhone 17 Pro Max with iOS 26.6.1.
Latest update breaks iOS privacy feature
Updated: 8/25. Dev reached out with instructions that so far addresses the problem. Adjusting to 4 star as the VPN for some regions doesn’t consistently kick in as expected. Original: Lockdown 2.4.4 breaks iCloud Private Relay on Wi-Fi. Private Relay worked normally with Lockdown prior to the 2.4.4 update. After updating to 2.4.4, iOS reports that Private Relay is unavailable on my Wi-Fi network. Disabling the Lockdown Firewall immediately restores Private Relay. Re-enabling the Firewall immediately causes the Private Relay warning to return.
Update broke private relay
This last iOS update has resulted in the constant message that my WiFi isn’t compatible with iCloud private relay - and it’s ONLY when lockdown vpn is active. Can you please fix this so I can use the vpn again? I won’t turn off private relay.
Upsides and downsides
So I wanted no ads on melon playground so i got this app and enabled firewall but the next day, it just turns off and when i turn in back on, the stupid pay for premium screen comes up like i just wanna enable firewall

This firewall is living up it it’s membership, it’s constantly blocking most of the regulars on the daily. I hate being stalked online by some weirdos in some other counties. Good job and thank you.
v2.3.2+ is broken on iOS 17.x
The firewall no longer connects when using a device running iOS 17.x versions or lower. I’ve submitted into to the devs support email address, but no reply from them in the 2 weeks since I’ve submitted the email. When attempting to activate the firewall, all network communications are blocked by the app. I’ve had to fully delete the app from my devices so I can continue to access WiFi/cellular on my phone. Please roll back the app release to v2.3 or release a new version to fix these issues asap. Edit1 - despite the Dev’s response, the app is still not connecting on my 17.x devices. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and VPN profile multiple times, with no success. Edit2 - still broken with the v2.4.0 update. The same behavior described above. Edit3 - v2.4.1 also still broken. Edit4 - surprise surprise, v2.4.2 is also still broken on iOS 17.x versions. Edit5 - in response to the dev: I have already tried deleting the app, removing the VPN profile, and doing a clean reinstall multiple times. The clean reinstall does not fix the problem. I don’t know how to say it any more clearly - the app continues to be broken, despite these basic “troubleshooting” suggestions that should ‘tOtAlLy’ fix the issue. “Our support systems are undergoing updates.” Really? For the past 7 months that users have been reporting this issue?? Have you been operating without any support staff whatsoever for more than half a year?? Edit6 - for shiggles, I did another clean reinstall of the app, just in case. And now I can confirm 100% that no, the problem is not fixed with a reinstall. Edit 7 - v2.4.4 is still broken for iOS 17.x versions. I did a clean reinstall of the app when I saw the new update. Same behavior described above, the firewall no longer connects, leaving WiFi in a permanent “connecting” loop. Crazy that this is still ongoing. Still broken. Edit 8 - v2.4.5 still does not fix the issue described above. Same behavior described above. At this point, the issue isn’t getting fixed, or your dev team is disastrously incompetent. Either way, Lockdown is no longer an app that I can trust. They’ve also updated their privacy policy to show that they’re using a lot of the trackers that the app was created to block in the first place. That, mixed with the non-functional dev team and no recent privacy audits, make Lockdown more of a privacy liability than a privacy tool. I highly do not suggest this app, even if you’re on a version of iOS that seems to be supported by Lockdown. Edit 9 - the streak continues. v2.4.6 still broken on iOS 17.
Doesn’t work anymore:/
I loved lockdown. It worked so well for blocking all of the annoying ads on my apps but sometime a few months back it started glitching and stopped working. It would constantly flicker between firewall off and firewall on, messing up my internet connection. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it, removed the vpn off my device but no matter what I do it won’t work anymore. Please fix my favorite app:/
Looks like I’m not the only one
I’ve used this app for years with great success and the past use is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Y’all really jacked something up BAD for this many people, myself now included, to report the same issue of the app blocking network connection. What’s worse is that I’ve read a large number of reviews stating they’ve done the whole delete and reinstall bit with no success, and yet the responses from y’all are literally just telling people to do exactly the same thing. I’m convinced it’s just AI responses because there’s no way you could be like “Sorry that you’re having trouble! Do the same thing that didn’t work the first several times to fix it :)” The delete and reinstall also didn’t work for me, multiple times, so for the giggles I’m posting this just to see if I get the same generic answer. On top of the predatory 3 day trial into a subscription; really, only 3 days and not a month? Or even a week? 1 day is now enough to see y’all decided to tank your own product for no reason so enjoy the negative review bombs I guess.
No longer works
It worked for a long time without issues but because of either an app update or ios update, turning on the vpn just completely stops me from accessing any networks. I am on ios 16.7.12

It’s now a scam app and will not work with iCloud private relay. Why you ask? Because it was sold.
Even after 8/2826 update it STILL will not work with iCloud private relay. BE WARNED! This used to be a legitimate app. It was sold to a concern in Spain. Check it out on the Apple App Store ownership page. Then do a whois search. It’s no longer American owned. Furthermore, they no longer have any language on their app about your browsing history. Why? THEY COLLECT YOUR BROWSING HISTORY NOW. READ THE PRIVACY POLICY. IT IS NOT THE SAME. THE NEW YORK TIMES AND FAST COMPANY SHOULD WITHDRAW THEIR SUPPORT FOR THIS APP. The original developers sold out to a data collection company in Spain. Newery Global Media. THIS APP IS NOW DATA HARVESTING.
IOS issues
I love this ap but recently it is not able to fiction as both my data and WiFi get turned off and can't be turned back on until the app is deleted.i really want to know when this can be fixed as I have tried all solutions mentioned previously in other reviews.
Was good for a few months
I’ve had this ad blocker for a few months now and randomly my internet started getting really bad I would lose signal and not be able to use internet for a while also I didn’t have the vpn enabled I only had the ad blocker and when I deleted this app my internet suddenly got better
My app is frozen i don’t know if it’s the same for everyone else
Basically before it froze it was amazing at blocking ads I didn’t have even a single ad i hope they fix it though but im not sure if its just an issue on my end

Literally just blocks everything
iCloud Private Relay Is Now Broken
The app started blocking mask.icloud.com which makes this app unusable on Apple devices. Using a custom rule to “not block” does not work either. The latest version 2.4.6 did not resolve the issue.
Bugs and glitches
I’ve been using this VPN and it’s amazing at ad blocking but after I updated it there have been glitches and I can’t active it for some reason I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it just doesn’t work I’m sure it will be fixed soon so I’m not gonna worry much about it.
No longer works
Used to be fantastic but some recent update makes the vpn not work at all. The “Lockdown Configuration” for vpn just will never connect and gets caught in a loop of trying to connect, making it impossible to use the internet at all until you delete the configuration. Deleting and reinstalling the app doesn’t fix any of this despite the developer responses.
Internet issue
Ok this app is really good and I had been using it for around a year and a half and it works exactly how I wanted it to but after using it for a while my internet seemed to be turning off when my phone was off and I didn’t know how this was happing until I deleted this app and then my internet was fine so you guys need to fix that
Functional and free
This works remarkably well even at the free plan. I’ve been considering upgrading to paid but haven’t yet, so I can’t speak on the value of that.
App is broken
8/29 - issue still not resolved with update. Do not try this app until they have fixed this! Long time user. As others have noted, app breaks iCloud private relay. Reinstalling VPN configuration does not fix. Fix needs to be pushed ASAP!
This is me trying this on my new phone
Everytime I connect to lockdown it just keeps asking to allow vpn status even though I do it works perfectly on my other phone but once I got a new phone and tried it, it just completely goes haywire I did just re download it hopefully it fixes but If it doesn't hopefully y'all can fix this or tell me how to fix it
This app changed
I remember getting this app quite a bit ago and being shocked that it worked so well, it wasn’t until fairly recently that I believe I updated it and it now is working poorly, before it would block ads from any app even the games, and now it doesn’t even do that, I don’t know what it’s doing, I even started the subscription service for the 7 day free trial to see if it was the reason, and it still hasn’t fixed itself.
Why remove the custom ip address blocking feature
I really don’t know the reasoning behind only allowing to block domain instead of ip but it’s a huge setback
Looks good but no audits and minimal customization
The firewall is good for basic ad-blocking via DNS blocks, but it’s relatively simple. VPN is effective but moderately slow.
Latest Update Breaks Private Relay
Update: per the Dev, I deleted and reinstalled the app. Problem still persists!!!! Fix this bug asap! Latest update causes Private Relay to not work on any network. Only solution is to toggle the firewall on/off. Extremely annoying. Please fix/undo whatever you did! I've been using this app for years and years and it's awesome with few issues. This makes it literally unusable! I will update/correct this review if the bug is fixed in an appropriate amount of time iOS 26.6 iphone 17. App version 2.4.5
Good but needs more regular updates
App was really good but seams to be not as effective as it once was I’m guessing domain names are adapting or changing being the reason behind it so there is a real need for an update. I felt a lot safer with this app but now not so sure.
2.0 update ruined app
This used to be one of my favourites but putting paywalls behind previously free features is very disappointing from the devs.
Disappointing
I raved about this app and putting advanced features behind a paywall is acceptable. However removing once free block lists and putting them behind that paywall is a bit underhand. I understand fanfare and 5 star reviews won’t pay the bills. But there are alternatives with more features for less that won’t affect your battery life.

Breaks iCloud Private Relay AGAIN.
I had to turn off lockdown (v2.4.5) yesterday since it breaks iCloud Private Relay. Maybe an update will fix it, again… Until then lockdown remains off entirely. Loosing trust in this lil bit of software now. Update: No change after deleting the VPN profile and deleting the app and reinstalling it anew. V2.4.5 simply breaks iCloud Private Relay.

When opening the app, the firewall is deactivated, requiring me to manually activate each time I use the internet, instead of the firewall being always on.
This used to be great
This was an amazing app, reliable and reasonably priced. Since v2 though, it’s broken. Having to pay more is fine if you get more features, but sadly it seems it’s now just a money grab for something that is broken. It’s unreliable, I get connection errors all the time, and even though i’ve (foolishly) subscribed to the top tier, i get nothing but subscription prompts. Very sad to see a great app fall.
I wish Lockdown VPN would stay activated!!!
In one day of installing lockdown it stopped over 1000 trackers. Not a bad showing. The one issue that Lockdown needs to address is the fact their Secure VPN Tunnel keeps disengaging itself. Another thing Locked should do is give the app the ability to show the user the list of trackers, and other intrusive risks it has stopped. Outside of that Lockdown seems to be a good application doing its Joe, because when you do an IP leak test at ipleak .net it shows your Canada server location in the middle of a park in Montreal Canada. That what I like to see when I run an up leak test. Not my true location. So do me a favour, and fix the VPN Tunnel disengaging problem please!! Thanx Lockdown.
Bug
Best app ever but recently it won’t let me connect? I’ve been using this app for months and no issues. It keeps going in a circle and won’t connect at all, please fix this!
Thieves
They immediately pop up either their forced plan choices that are pre select to charge you their yearly price and they make it so unfriendly for the user to back out. I accidentally select their year plan and this app is worthless. Blocks have the videos I want to watch on Snapchat hence why I stopped using it months ago. No one answers from the dev tea If they even exist. Save your time and money and avoid these scammers.
Often need to restart it
Love this app, blocks nearly everything anywhere. My only issue is that sometimes it randomly stops, once to a few times a week I have to manually go in the app and start it again. Not sure why that happens, otherwise it’s a great app
Used to be a great app..
Uninstalled Lockdown since the new update V2 started using huge amounts of data & battery in the background even when the phone is not is use. The detected trackers have also substantially reduced since it is not blocking all trackers anymore.
V2 is a disappointing step backwards
With the launch of version 2, Lockdown has decided to charge for features that were once free. It’s frustrating as a long-time user. The iOS version is still useable in the free state and does offer valuable blocking of trackers. The iPad version. thought, is buggy forcing me to delete it. Disappointing for an app that I had previously highly recommended.
Blocks internet access
I have been using this for several years, and it has been amazing; the tracker blocker stope thousands of trackers, and both the Blocker and the VPN are ALWAYS on! BUT … all of a sudden, the VPN is actually blocking access to the internet. Anything that wants internet access is blocked! Really disappointing! UPDATE: I deleted the app and reinstalled it, but the outcome is the same; I ran SpeedSmart with the VPN off, and got 141 down and 23 up. Then I turned the VPN on, and SpeedSmart was blocked.

It would be a huge bonus for the added functionality of showing what processes/services are dialling out to external servers. I've seen EXTREMELY ALARMING number of listing for connecting to Amazon when I have nothing opened/launched/backgrounded. I've blocked cancers to privacy like G**gle, F@b**k, and &m&zon because I'm sick and tired of our right to privacy has become a commodity. Please, please, please add the ability to identify transgressors to privacy. Great app, just needs a little more. M.
Battery hog
This new update drains my phone’s battery in under 24 hours, and my mom is reporting the same with her phone and iPad. Folks here are saying that once free features are now behind the paywall though, and I don’t see that; there are new blockers that are part of their premium package, but I seem to have the same features I always did with the free version. Putting any blockers behind the paywall is out of keeping with the spirit of free and open source software however. That being said, my primary concern is the battery usage.
Seems lacking…
Admittedly I’m only using the free parts of the app, but recently I’m getting far more adverts than I used to. Either the companies are getting smarter and faster, or this isn’t doing the job it should. My biggest gripe is that you can’t seem to be able to update the blocking list… you just have to trust it’s working. Once a week a banner appears which I need to tap to update, but even recently that only seems to have opened the app to their pro version advert. If there was simply a manual option to update (and a place that tells you what update you’re running) then I’d have more confidence. I don’t need a VPN, so won’t upgrade, and though I don’t mind being shown pro benefits on a free service, I’m worried it gets in the way of being properly protected.

..nevermind, I keeo going into tjis glitch where I allow the configuration but then my internet gets turned off over and over again. I have tried to delete the app, then the configurations, then redownload. Still didnt work. Then, I force reset my phone and yet it still didn’t work
Pretty cool
I really the idea. My only issue is that there is no persistent "on". Once in a while I go back to the app only to discover that it has been off since I don’t know when. Probably when I switched from cellular to wifi, but that’s a guess since it doesn’t tell me.
Brilliant app at first, but slowly removing free features and adding behind paywall
Been using this app for about a year now, worked brilliantly for free with features such as adding custom trackers to block and blocking other lists of trackers such as those belonging to big tech firms like Facebook. Now in this new update, you need to pay to block the very trackers you could block for free before - when toggling "block facebook" a pop-up appears asking you to upgrade. Very upsetting.
Has potential
This app has a lot of potential, but is lacking in several areas. There are not many blocklists included, and the ones that are included are quite short and limited compared to other DNS blocking solutions. The ability to configure blocklists would be helpful. While you can add enable or disable pre-existing blocklists, you cannot add new ones. Another huge downside is that you cannot setup a custom DNS server. The app will default to whichever DNS server the network you’re connected to is using. This is not good for privacy. Also, I think the VPN that they offer should be separated into a different app.
