Can’t take money out without contacting support

There is a buy-in, but still a good deal when used correctly.
You need to buy $10 of credit in order to purchase goods. You also need to establish a fund threshold for reloading, which is a bit much and I’m not a fan of. I know it’s how they’re able to compete and compensate for the deals they have, along with attracting customers, but is still kinda buns in my opinion. The $3 deals are for real though, and the products are good and merit the buy-in needed to buy the food offered at discount. I would get this if you’re downtown a lot, seeing how the price inflation is absolutely nuts and this is the only reasonable café that serves quality for a good price. If you’re doing a group order, there should be no contest, go here. Shout-out to the staff at the location by the Museum of the Dog, very kind and clean store.

app needs improvement for sure
I go to matto at least once a day and i have no complaints about their coffee n etc. only complaint is the app. Its pretty frustrating that the app has a “custom” input for adding to your wallet but can’t be below 10 dollars. There should be any amount allowed.. There should also be a QR code or something that allows you to scan in store to use whatever is left on your matto account as well if you don’t want to reload.

I just watched an employee lick their fingers and then pick up a sandwich they were making for a customer. No gloves, no tongues. Gross!
Payment is annoying
Love Matto’s tasty snacks & coffee, the best for the $ in NYC. And the people that work at my location on Maiden Lane are the best! But the app won’t let me use Apple or any stores cards and I keep having to re-add my payment method in. Please take Apple or google pay.
Money missing
I love the coffee here but when I was adding money into the app, it charged me but didn’t add my money. So no coffee for me + down $10
Fantastic app upgrade
I was a longtime user of the previous version of this app, and this upgrade fixed all the little things that annoyed me about it and greatly improved usability in lots of little ways. It’s obvious that the people who made it paid close attention to how regular Matto customers use the app. Speaking both as a frequent customer of Matto and as a user interface designer myself: beautiful work!
Scam to buy coffee
I tried buying coffee on app for $3. You have to deposit money in order to buy anything even if it’s not $3. Even if you try to pay full price, you still have to deposit. Scam not worth it.

Prices keep hiking
Matto was a cheap and affordable place for good baked goods. Recently I’ve noticed their sizes shrinking & prices rising. I would appreciate if they would explain themselves rather than just change things up on loyal customers like myself. They still taste good but these change ups plus a so-so app that’s pretty basic I’m giving em a 3.

Never Stocked
I keep getting emails for new items but the location near me, on busy 9th Ave in Manhattan no less, never has any of the advertised items. It’s so disappointing and annoying when places send advertisements for stuff they only send to one store. I’d rather just skip this place altogether and marking these emails as spam.

Do not have same options as Seamless
When I order on Seamless, I can order decaf at the John St location but can’t on this app. Decaf is offered at other locations though.
Nice business model, not so nice app
App doesn’t remember the previous store location, or suggest the closest store. I have to set this every time I order a coffee.

Deceptive advertising
Signs draw you into shop by inexpensive coffee offer is ordered on app. After downloading app and adding item to cart, when you try to pay the app prompts you to add a minimum $10 gift card to your account on the app. There is no way to bypass. They are trying to trick you into buying a $10 gift card you didn’t want. I abandoned the app and paid the old fashioned way for my coffee (80 cents more than the advertised “discount” price). While the coffee was good, the deceptive advertising left a bad taste in my mouth so will avoid this chain in the future.
Ate $30 initial bank
Yesterday I opened an account and added $30 to my payment bank. In the meantime I had to reset my Apple 15. Since the reset, I was unable to open the Matto account and when I finally did, my bank was empty! Where is my money??!!
Coffee
The coffee is delicious and the service excellent. The people who work there are do nice and never rude.
Bad Atritude
There’s a particular tall white male at the 3495 Broadway location who on my first visit, returned silence to my good morning and then returned silence to my Thank you. Luckily my experience was great the next time with an African American woman. On another visit I requested that the egg for my sandwich be warmed well (as it had not been on a previous visit) and I again received silence, rolled eyes and a turned back from the same man. I had to cancel my order because I think it’s safe to say we need to be able to trust anyone preparing food for us.
Application issue
I have a non NYC phone number, it does not allow me to register for an account. I love this coffee shop and frequent often with loved ones. I’d like to be able to register for an account.

Not only are Matto’s food and drinks delicious and high quality, but the prices are also best I’ve seen. The app is so efficient and makes me morning routine seamless.
Refill? What a scam practice
This practice is just a scam. Eventually you won’t have enough funds or have too little buy anything and that money will belong to them. It adds up from every single user. Ended up not using their stupid scam feature and probably won’t ever go to their shop again. $3 for everything but make sure to read their fine prints and scam practices.

this is one of the most confusing apps of all time! why is the cancel prder button so readily available? 70% of the time I accidentally cancel my order! having to refill my balance is so annoying pls fix this i really love matto

You have to re- input everything a dozen timeson a "reorder"! You also have to override the stupid suggested location 13 times! Developer should download Starbucks and Dunkin' apps and learn how a barista app should work!
