Just about everything you need, with a few hiccups
Buckle up! This is not going to be short review haha This app has been a great resource while I am studying for the TCF for immigration to Canada. There are a lot of great things about this app, but a few things keep it from being a perfect 5 stars. The problems: (1) the app only stores data locally on your device, so if you plan on going back and forth between an iPad and your phone your progress will not be the same. This honestly hasn’t been a huge deal for me because I chose to use my phone for general vocabulary and my iPad for grammar related vocab (like conjugations and verb/preposition pairs). The downside is that I can’t back up either device now because it will automatically override the other save. (2) When you want to create a CSV and import big lists of words onto the app, if the word already exists on their premade lists it will erase your new card and just put theirs in your category. I then have to go in and manually change each card that was replaced with what I wanted it to say. (3) To combat the issue from problem #2 I tried to just delete the words already in the app. However, there is no way to delete the premade categories all at once and if you want to delete any words on these lists you have to do it individually. I did in fact do this and it took forever because there are like 3,000+ words preloaded. Why go through all this trouble? A couple of reasons: the premade cards have additional pronunciations added to each card and they don’t read the article (le,la,un,une, etc). This is a problem if you are trying to learn words with their genders. Also, the cards don’t always include the masculine and feminine version of an adjective. Also, I found it difficult to go from English to French when the adjectives and adverbs weren’t labeled. (4) Probably the worst thing about the app is that you cannot edit or create new words with an external keyboard. For instance, I will be studying a group of words on my iPad that has an attached keyboard and I will notice a card has an error. If I click edit, it will open the card details but I literally can’t click and type in any cell. So I have to disconnect from the keyboard, fix it using the touch screen keyboard, and then reconnect when I am done. It is extremely tedious. This is also the case if you just want to add a few cards to a list. You can click add word but none of the cells are typeable. I did reach out and they said they didn’t know that this was an issue and would look into a fix. Fingers crossed because I could honestly overlook the other things if I could use my keyboard all the time. Final thoughts, overall the best app that is affordable and user friendly to study French. Every time I think maybe there is a better app, I go poke around and nothing works as easy or as well as this app. Ideas to make it perfect: fix keyboard bug and provide a way to download the app either with a blank slate (no cards) or an easier way to remove existing cards for people like me who want all their cards in a specific format.

Not intuitive
Not exactly like flashcards. Trying to figure it out since I can import words. Would like to choose the category to work on French first and can’t figure it out.

Нет возможности изменить категорию слова с Выучено на Посвторить, только полностью сбросить прогресс. Не удобно переключать способ повторения между языками, надо постоянно в настройки лезть и обратно возвращать. Нет рандомного повторения смешанного- между языками например слово-перевод или перевод-слово, выбрать из нескольких, или наоборот корректно написать слово. Как в Дуолинго например. Нет набора готового слов, только из открытого источника других людей, не проверенных. После недели использования, добавления карточек , изменений все исчезло! Поддержка не отвечает. Просто приложение как будто бы перенесло само себя на неделю позже. Разработчик: если берете деньги, надо чтоб работало.
Excellent algorithms, but needs to sync across devices
This is a superb app for increasing French vocabulary. It has the best flashcard system I’ve ever encountered. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because if you want to use the app on more than one device without losing your data, you have to manually sync your data to the cloud after each session and then manually restore the data to your second device before continuing on that device. I use the app on my iPhone during the day and my iPad in the evening, and more than once I have accidentally failed to sync and lost progress data. Correct this one issue, and the app would be absolutely perfect.

Simple, almost perfect
Language flash cards with audio and pictures, and no unnecessary extra fluff. The only thing it could improve on is to have more vocabulary after the 3000 most frequently used words. Maybe it could have the top 5000 words, and/or specific topic-based word sets, ie biology, ecology, history, politics, etc; or tense-based verb usage sets.

Need automatically sync for the dictionary
I sometimes use different devices for this app, but I had to manually sync the dictionary across devices. For example, if I add some words on my iPhone A, I have to create a backup on iPhone A and manually sync to the iPhone B, which can be inconvenient. I hope developer can add automatic sync function to this app. Thanks!
Please fix
It’s important to listen the language and repeat. However, the sound could be improved. There is a bag. E.g. Il est allé à Pari fin mai Sounds like: Il est allé accent aigu (é) a Pari fin mai Accent aigu pronounced each time. Please fix. Hope the rest is ok. Can’t check the grammar mistakes, so hope for the best.

the best app for building a vocabulary, but it would be great if the words were sorted out by their level from A1 to C2 like they are in the reword english app
iOS update 17.3 removed picture field
This app was best I could find to learn French vocabulary using spaced repetition. Made hundreds of my own cards, and it became virtually useless when I updated to iOS 17.3. There are no longer any pictures associated with my existing cards, and the picture field has disappeared when creating new cards. Please fix, unless this is part of their plan to make me pay for premium. ☹️

Отличное приложение для изучения языка. Не хватает только отдельных разделов для частей речи (глаголы, существительные и т.д.) и запоминания слов по датам, чтобы можно было легко посмотреть, какие слова человек выучил в конкретную дату. Часто бывали такие ситуации, когда «слепым тыком» ищешь слово, которое забыл.
Wants $ fee and inaccurate
Asks you to commit to sign up with a monthly or yearly fee. You can skip if you look carefully but then ads show up every few words. Also some words were inaccurate. I found 2 mistakes in first 30 words. I do not like renewable fee type apps. One time fee I can do but prefer to test app first to ensure it is worth it.

Reword kinda rocks
I really like reword, no need to set up anything. Just choose the category of words you want to learn. 8 bucks per year, you can upload anki decks if you want, you can add your own words. I already learned Spanish using reword and it’s not perfect but it’s great for building vocabulary
Good app, could use improvement
I’ve been using this app as a place to organize my French vocab. I like it overall, but I’ve had a couple issues: 1. I haven’t been able to find reflexive verbs anywhere on the app. I can add them myself, of course, but it seems a bit of an oversight considering how important they can be. 2. I wish there was an easier way to train with (irregular) verb conjugations on this app. I can add them one by one myself, but again it would have been nice if, for example, on a verb flashcard the different conjugations were visible and you could go through them as mini-flashcards. 3. For whatever reason, when I’m typing on this app whenever the phone autocorrects it deletes the space that I typed after the word. And then when the next word is stuck to the previous one it doesn’t autocorrect to put the space there. This can make it incredibly frustrating to make my own flashcards on this app. Most entires are a single word so it’s not a dealbreaker, but it makes the whole process a lot more frustrating than it has to be. Using the app is still a smooth experience in many respects, and it’s the nicest vocabulary app I’ve been able to find on iOS. It’s basically a paid app, but it’s not too pricey and I’m glad to have discovered it.

The app itself is easy to navigate and user friendly but there are a few things that I feel need improving. There is no indication as to whether the word is a verb or adjective etc. this makes it confusing then you get multiple French words for one English for example open adjective vs verb. There should be a distinction so people can understand where to use that word. My final gripe, which is minor but still shows me is the pictures used for words. I know it must be difficult to find matching pictures for words. I’d sooner have no pictures that reoccurring or ones abstract to the meaning. For example ‘physical’ uses the E=MC2 photo when it doesn’t mean physics. Also there’s a picture of an old person used for 5/6 words which doesn’t help when learning.

I tried to import anki deck but I can’t import examples, hope you can fix it!
Mostly good, but review mechanism needs work
It would be great to be able to see the conjugations for the verbs. More importantly, it would be helpful to be able to filter the review pile by which review the card is on, or flag cards. There are a few cards that I have struggled to get right, but I’m shown them so infrequently that it seems unlikely that I can learn them at all through this app.

I really like the design of this app. The audio feature is nice, it’s like $8 a year and you can import your own anki sets, which is way cheaper than the anki app itself for iOS.

So Intuitive
I really wasn’t expecting much from this little app. I just wanted some flash cards for studying French. But I must say this program is really well thought out. The vocabulary categories section is totally flexible. I can add words to any category (for example, I added a few new animals to the pre-existing animal category). It also allowed me to create entirely new categories and to download a long list of words. For example, I am currently studying -er verbs, so I made a category and imported about 130 -er verbs. And I keep finding more and more cool features to the app. I’ve just started using hands-free mode which is great in the car. I have been using the app for about two weeks now and have a vocabulary of about 300 words (from nearly 0). To the developers of this app, well done!! Merci!
