4 stars, but only because it’s free
You start off with the tutorial (easy) mode for 1 of 3 scenarios. Once you finish the tutorial, the next time you play it, it seems to automatically progress to the (slightly) harder mode for the 3 scenarios. There are no other scenarios available (I even paid the $0.99 to unlock all scenarios), so that was disappointing. There doesn’t seem to be a way to manually select difficulty levels either. The game play, for me at least, was fairly easy to master. I preferred building up my economy before attacking, then ensuring all my troop units got an upgrade before ending the battle. Upgraded general permits more units. Upgraded units are stronger. Try to get a dock as early as possible because a Lv 5 dock gives you access to cannons. A Lv 5 castle gives you firearms. A Lv 5 horse statute gives you better cavalry. Once I got my cannon and heavy cav upgrade, I just used a 1+ unit general with 2 cannons, 2 bow cav, and the rest heavy cav, and that army was unbeatable. You’ll need a strong economy to sustain that Amy though. The rest of the time, I found you can prop up your economy and lands faster by just making alliances, starting trading, then buying as many of the AI’s farms, villages, mines, docks, and horse statues as possible. When you buy rather than fight for them, you get them already maxed out in most cases, so you save on upgrade costs. Just make sure you keep checking on you tax rates and have armies covering you new lands so you don’t lose them to riots. I also found that for armies that you’re protecting territories with, all you need is a general and a couple of cheap troops. I usually chose the general that gives a decreased cost buff for garrison duties. So anyway, went though this a few times already. It’s missing the ability to select more challenging levels and different scenarios.
Boring. Just garbage.
Not much was put into this game. It feels weak and it was not nearly as entertaining as I hoped it would be. I was looking for a good samurai game and this looked promising but was very disappointing. Don’t download it.

I’m constantly playing easy mode and yet I can’t win a single battle I outnumber them in training and numbers even if everything is ready I still can’t win fix it

Can’t close the ads without resetting app which puts you back 1 turn, I think they put a fake cross over the real one

Awesome game
This is ridiculous.
I have played this game for years. I like it a lot. I have paid for ad-free, and several other premium features. The price was good. Finally, I’d played everything and decided I wanted to start over. That’s when the problems began. It took away all my premium features and the bank I had developed over the years. Ok, I decided to re-purchase the premium features so I could get to the campaign game. All good, so far. That was yesterday. Today, I launch the game and I have no premium features and can only choose the beginner game. Now, I am going to have to go through Applepay and stop my payments. You people really need to develop a method for starting over that doesn’t take away everything. This is ridiculous.

This game is pretty good but I really wished they had a multiplayer option
Why the enemy army scale with player army even ultra mode.
Is not so hard to beat the game. Waste time to play. When you have three unit enemy will have the same three unit. ?? Ewhy you add army + for what bro. For more enemy unit?
Not accurate to the real thing if that’s what your aiming for.
They aren’t in there historically accurate lands that’s all I got to say and the armor could’ve been worked on to look more accurate that’s all just pointing out some stuff.

It is a fun strategy game, but…
The game forces you to watch advertisement videos from time to time. Otherwise, it is overall a fun game to sink your time into. Fortunately, the videos can be skipped after five seconds, but these ads are little too invasive for me, and as result, I am quitting after almost two hours of play. If the advertisement videos don’t bother you and you’re looking for simple tactics strategy mixed in with economy management and minor city development, this game is for you! The overworld map and army group(s) are similar to Total War: Shogun II, but the combat is styled after tactics gameplay and played on a multi-hexagonal field. The game is free but offers premium purchases for those who would like access extra content, such as bonus resources and premium units. I don’t blame them for their choice of having ads played in game though since it is a free game of surprising quality!

When I attacked the enemy district, I used an army to inflict damage to the enemy, next I used another army to fight but the enemy was fine, suggesting that after fighting the enemy suffered losses
Great game but…
It’s a great game and it’s something I’ve been looking for but the problem I have with it that the campaign lacks depth, the ai should have a difficulty setting because it’s to easy and my main thing is the honor, like the max honor is capped at 100 but when you go over that in the amount of territory you have. you start having rebellion percentages going up (meaning less taxes) and that’s good and all but when I gain more territory say for example a mine. If I get another mine I end up losing more gold then I got from the previous turn even when upgraded to the max because I have to lower my tax income even more just to not get my building destroyed losing even more money. 4.5 stars if I could
A real shame
Such a shame. I would have given this game more stars because I was really enjoying it. But then I paid money to access the gold in the vault and didn’t get access. When I tried to contact them via the support link on this page I got a mail daemon notice : mail undelivered , not a valid email address. I don’t see any other way to contact customer service from within the game so I guess I will not be giving them any more money. Pity because it’s one of the few games I would pay into. Shame

Very fun strategy game
I love that you can look away from the map and see your men bow adding the immersion that you really are a leader planning your next move on the map. Before i got the total war games this scratched my itch for a good mobile strategy game very well

Mastered the game
Once you figure out how to win battles every thing else is simple Pikemen for 30 coins will kill all horses easy protect them also. Avoid archers I would use one archer per Army if any. Save your money and buy Cannons if you you have two cannons and some infantry to protect them your basically unstoppable….. Destroy castles and stables to get instant money then rebuild the providence slowly to help the economy. Try to stay on the offensive early as other Army’s are not that strong longer you want to attack the stinger they are getting also. Big tip once you beaten an army continue to fight and slaughter the enemy to build you Army’s rank… be smart about it. Your main Calvary Captain should always have gained rank before leaving a battle… If you feel like you are in a bad position feel free to surrender and keep some guys alive then send reinforcements as you already know what the army has and I have their counter for easy wins. If you have more than one port destroy it for coins… once you become a master try beating the game without getting coins from advertising to see how good you really are. Don’t worry to much about the economy rice and coins as that can be a distraction focus on advancing on the map and everything will work it self out… If you face archers and cannons in a castle best thing is to fight them with guns arrows and cannons don’t try to over take them with just leg infantry and pikemen be smart about attacking castles. Have fun! Hopefully they come up with a new tougher version.
A amazing game with one glaring issue
I really enjoy this game. There is very little strategy games on the App Store that are as good as this game. But there is one major issue, if you buy premium units and then clear your progress so you can play as a clan again, it will render your purchase invalid. I paid 8 dollars for the premium unit pack and when I reset my save it said that I needed to re-buy the premium units. It’s a good game, but once you complete a campaign as a clan you cannot really go back and do it again unless you want to lose all of your progress and purchases.
LOTR
Good game, please make a lord of the rings version! Also, please make a way where you can build additional fortifications(walls, traps, etc) and maybe buy loyalty of lords and/or ladies or kings/queens of other nations, thus gaining land through diplomacy. And DEFENITELY make a lord of the rings version! Like you can have different factions (Mordor with king Sauron, Gondor with king Aragorn, etc..) or become leader of the faction yourself or form your own faction

Very good game with some minor mechanical flaws
So let me talk about what is excellent in the game: A) Combat System/Balance — AI isn’t the best (it’d take god knows how much coding to improve though, so I understand), but the combat system is excellent and is well balanced, and forces me to think hard. B) Combat Maps are awesome too, only wish was that there was a special map for Kyoto given it’s importance. Also love the subtle changes in the maps depending on season. C) Economy is well balanced. And rice is a freakin brilliant mechanic that incentivizes larger campaigns in summer when feeding armies is cheap, and discourages keeping large armies in winter. D) Graphics are excellent. Although you can’t rotate the camera, the focus on one angle means that the graphics and subtle details really shine. Units have cool models too. E) Management of options/diplomacy/economy are simple yet has depth and I don’t feel confused at anything. F) Game as a whole is simple to pick up and adequate guidance is within it throughout. G) Monetization model and ad frequency is very reasonable. I plan to buy the no ads and maybe unit pack when I gain the funds to do so. H) Very few bugs within game and runs quite smoothly Now the things that I think could be improved upon: A) Having the ability to play with/against someone on your phone (online multiplayer) would be super cool. B) Connections on Strategic map are hard to see and need to be a bit more visible so I can easily figure out where my armies/other armies could go. C) There needs to be an option to merge/detach parts of armies. It makes it frustrating when I have several smaller armies due to defeats/ overspreading and I can’t combine them to counter a big obvious threat. Also is a bit annoying that I can’t raise general less armies for garrisons. D) (These next two are the reason why I can’t give the game 5 stars) You can’t restart a campaign with a clan until you are utterly defeated. This is incredibly annoying when things start to go south and I have to spend a while waiting for every territory to be taken over so I can lose and try again with that clan. E) The fact that all mission progress is lost when retreating. If I lose all my units, I am forced to automatically retreat, and it is infuriating when I have a close battle that I lose, and I lose a bunch of valuable units but the AI magically regains every unit I kill because when you retreat “mission progress won’t be saved.” It really feels unrealistic and ahistorical, makes it not possible to go to battle in the hope of trying to grind down the enemy army (and encourages doom stacks instead of more numerous and strategically interesting smaller armies), and makes every battle unrealistic (keep fighting cause if you lose, the AI magically regains all the units you previously killed in battle) and puts an unfair disadvantage on the player and breaks my sense of immersion. In spite of the issues above, I do however feel this game is quite strong and would be superior to Total War Shogun 2 (which I own + enjoy) with some relatively minor changes. Deep kudos to the Indy developer, and I hope that I’ll be able to change my rating to 5 stars in the future.

Get this game!
I love strategy games and this is one of the best. Simple to understand, slow easy start and allows you to pick up the pace. The units have great graphics for battle and moving around the map and fun to watch. Yes, there are ad’s and an option to play 30sec videos for extra gold. However, I love that I can play this with no internet/wifi connection to avoid the ad’s. Great for plane rides. Love the game and look forward to playing similar games from this developer. Download and try it out!

Great game a little buggy.
Game play is great a complex. Definitely not necessary to pay to win at all once you find your winning combo of troops. Definitely challenging. Free gold ads have been the issue many times I’ve watched with no return and that can be frustrating when on campaign and those 100 gold could be very useful in the provinces.
