What people like
- Recipients love getting the funny videos
- Super easy to create and share
- Great for birthdays and holidays
What they complain about
- App crashes constantly and won't open
- You cannot type in custom names
- No help available when things break
- Videos are old and rarely updated
Funny Card
I really like these funny videos, just wish they expand your birthday videos.
Not working
Usually this is the best, but the server is not working and not able to open the birthday wishes.
Fun App!
I actually love this app but wish it had new videos more often. Many videos are the same even from a couple of years ago. I’ve already sent all of these out to friends and sometimes had nothing g new to send. Otherwise the videos are great fun to send to friends and family.
Good if it worked
Worked well in the beginning but when you shared a card it doesn’t work. Instead of receiving a card, the recipient gets the ad to download the app. No card. $29.99 for no card stinks.
Alicia Keyes, agulaira
I love this app! I just wish you would add more names or allow it to placed, manually.
Love this app
I love using the Smash Ups for all my family and friends…they love receiving them too!
When it breaks you’re S.O.L.
No support anywhere. I’m a paid subscriber and can’t get help. The app just keeps kicking me out. Crashes.
Confused about writing messages
I love the concept of SmashUps but am not able to send a personalized message; why not? I purchased a year’s subscription. Went to American Greetings app and it let me personalize but doesn’t connect that I already have a subscription; this needs to be corrected. Need to add or change spelling of names. Need more diversity with choices. Great concept - mediocre execution.
Review
You need new characters. It’s been the same celebrities and songs for a while
Limited name selection
Unable to specify names that are not on the list
Totally worth the subscription
My friends all love getting these. They spread a little joy and make people smile!
Fails to load smash ups
This app has issues loading various smash ups. Also it would be helpful if you could enter a name if it does not exist in the list presented.
More name options
I do enjoy the app and the way it can add a name to make it more personal. however , there needs to be an option to put in a name that isn’t on your provided list of names.
App won’t open
The app worked great until recently when it won’t open. If it does open, selecting an item to customize immediately exits the app. Contacting App Support through the American Greetings link or Apple yields nothing so there is no help available. This has been going on for a few weeks. I’ve canceled my subscription which is paid through September because I can’t use the app.
Spelling should be individualized!
I’d like to be able to spell my friend’s name unique to her instead of your standard spelling
Difficulty
I've subscribed to SmashUps for two years and when it works, it is wonderful but very often it doesn't allow me to send what I'm entitled to as a subscriber and it's impossible to speak to anyone about
What?! No MINDY?
How can they not be a Mindy? Such a common name? Really?
Nothing new here for a while
I really like this app and I use it on a regular basis but it hasn’t been updated for a long time and I now struggle to open it through my phone even though I’ve deleted it and re-added the app. The only way I can open it is through the App Store so it’s a little bit disappointing in that respect. Thinking about not renewing the on the next subscription date.
The struggle is real
I loved this app when it was working. Have been trying to get in for 3 days. Then when I do get in and try to make card, it all goes away. I have deleted and reinstalled and nothing changed. A friend was not able to get in either. If it gets fixed I would stay. Most likely it’s too old and needs major updates.
K Fitz
I really enjoy having SmashUps for special occasions. It usually works great. However I frequently I cannot find the appropriate name needed. I realize smashup can not provide every conceivable name but there needs to a way to generate names or a phrases.
ONE OF THR BEST APPS OUT THERE!!
I use it to send “hello’s”, birthday and holiday greetings, and every other occasion I could think of! And the response is always a “WOW”!! If I had ONE and only one thing I’d like to add to the app, is a way to use different name spellings and add unusual names. Still I’ll always remain a fan and a subscriber!
I
It would be nice to have more name options or if it could let you type in their name. What is wrong with this app? I used to love it. Half of the ones I used to send are missing or don’t work. :(
Better “get well” choices
Enjoy the birthday choices we have but not all the categories listed as what they’re suppose to be.
Freezes
Some choices freeze up. Frustrating when you have paid for a subscription
Crashing
I have loved this app and used it for several years now but it has started crashing all the time so that I can’t even send anything. This is especially frustrating given that it just renewed the subscription this past week. I hope you guys can get this working.
Love the app
SmashUps is more than convenient-it’s a lifesaver! What would really help is if I could personalize as I have friends, coworkers, and people I volunteer with from different parts of the globe and there names are American names.
Birthday names
Both of my sons’ names were not in the Weird Al song Bummer
Santa Clause Doesn’t Work
I’ve tried several times to send the Santa Clause Smash Up. When I try to select my recipients, it closes.
Nothing new
I’ve used this website for several years and they never update or add new videos. Also some of the videos don’t load at all. The videos are very cute and they have a good name selection but my videos are repeated to the same people
Great ecards!
Love SmashUps. So fun and so easy to create and share!
Zero stars
I paid for a 13-month annual app in Nov 2024. Have been sending them over the last few months and now they want a renewal on May. No way.
SmashUps fun
Very easy to use App and the recipients of the birthday messages really enjoy them.
Glitches
I’ve used it for a few years. Recently there’s a couple of ecards that kick me out of the app (Whomp and It’s Your Thing) and there’s no way to contact the developer. I’ve deleted and reinstalled it but no change. Looks like I won’t renew if it doesn’t get fixed.
Uniquely a great way to say Happy Birthday!!! It’s a very special way to say Happy Birthday.
This app has brought so many smiles to my family and friends. The first one I sent was worth what I paid for the entire year!!!
Not working since renewal
Worked great first year, now that it’s renewed just keeps saying ‘oops something went wrong try again later’ well I’ve been trying for 3 weeks. Why am I paying $30 if I can’t create anything. I’ll give another week then will cancel.
SmashUps cards in general
As much as I like the quality and convenience of these cards, I am trying to cancel my subscription for a couple of reasons. Not having the option of names I am in need of and not being able to choose 2 names when sending an anniversary card. But if a problem.
Missing names
Love the app, but there is no way to get names added to the list to choose from.
Smash Up
Great fun and greatly appreciated
Sad, sad, sad
This used to be a great app. I LOVED it. Now it’s like an old abandoned house-falling apart piece by piece. Some stuff in the app just closes down the app. Yes, I’ve deleted & re-installed. New product? Slowed to one a year. They provide more service to Blue Mtn cards. Go there. I will not re-up multi-yr subscription.
App won't load
After downloading iOS 18.2 your app will not load. I enjoyed it very much and I am coming up on an annual renewal. Please advise if your app is not compatible with the new iOS.
Best card app
My friends and family love when they get one of these cards. They make everyone smile.
Smashups no longer works on iphone 16 Pro
The app is DOA on the new iphone. Cannot get it to work at all. Such a shame since the app used to work flawlessly.
Fun all when it works
Seems it just cycles more than anything else. I try to open the app and just looks like it’s loading and never opens. I pay for a yearly membership because it is cute to personalize and send to family and friends. Wish there were more singing ones vs the talking AI kind. Dolly is the fave and the new Kevin Bacon one is great too. But if I can’t get it to load to send to folks, it’s a waste of money.
