Huge lack of safety!
The app is undeniably great and offers a lot of fun interactions, making it a fantastic way to connect with new people. However, there is a significant downside: the lack of required identity verification. This anonymity can lead to instances of catfishing, where users may not be who they claim to be. While the freedom to talk to different individuals can be exciting, it raises serious concerns about trust and safety. Overall, itâs a fun app, but caution is advised!
Annoying notifications
PROS: - Duo mode if you actually have friends you want to show potential matches to - Has some interesting prompts/questions to answer, for example two truths and a lie CONS: - Most people on there have really dry profiles and barely fill them out - The design makes the profile look very messy and overwhelming if you answer every prompt, because each box is unnecessarily large and you have to scroll down to read them all, and having text upon text upon text also isnât very appealing - Nowhere to display pronouns - There is no bio or place where you can write down important things that donât fit in any other categories, for example hard dealbreakers Oh and also, if youâve been away for like a week, the Smitten team will start sending you notifications guilting you to open the app and there is (at least from what I found) no way to turn them off without turning off ALL notifications. The ones Iâve gotten so far (since 6th of February) are: âOur feelings? Hurt. Your matches? Waiting. You? Absent đąâ âNot to be dramatic, but we missed you today đâ and âStop ghosting your own love lifeâ Thatâs not at all disheartening to receive đ Another notification I recently got from the team said âYour ex just joined Smittenâ and then 30 minutes later âOops, our bad. Just someone who looks a lot like themâ My paranoid and traumatized self did not appreciate that joke, especially not with the punchline taking 30 minutes before showing up. Two stars for being a nice premise with a meh execution.

Total waste of time
The app is NOT user friendly. I was so confused the entire week I tried out this app. You have 0 say in who youâre matched with so if youâre in any way unhappy with all of your mystery matches then you have to wait an entire day or pay money to have another chance at meeting âthe oneâ. After reading their mission statement it honestly sounds like total BS. Not to be âthatâ person, but the app says youâre matched based on âattractiveness levelâ. Iâm no super model, but Iâm very active (fit), dress nicely, and have a fairly attractive face. So why do I keep being matched with greasy, fat, losers??? I can only assume itâs because the algorithm the app uses is total crap or because thereâs no actual way to match an âattractiveness levelâ, like what?? That sounds so fake? On top of that, ALL of the matches are suuuuuper far away and Iâve checked my location settings, so why is it that a girl in California keeps being matched with weirdos from Russia??? Once again, because this app is complete garbage. Iâm just gonna stick with Bumble and OKCupid because at least with those, youâre not at risk of being kidnapped by a Russian bot.

I didnât even sign up. It ask you to use Facebook to sign in & promises that people on Facebook will not know youâre using this app. Then when you click ok it says it allows this app & Facebook to share information. I do NOT want people on Facebook seeing what I look for on a dating app.

Too many inactive users or OF advertisers. Itâs a generous app that doesnât seem to have any fake likes but inactive users should be disabled if inactive for too long.

You can only match with one person a day through a random spin. I downloaded the app and did my first spin and got an unlucky spin, which is just a banana peel that tells you you missed out. It is essentially a big middle finger. The next day I spun again and what do you know I got an unlucky spin again. Itâs kind of hard to use the app for dating when it will not let me use the app for dating...
