What people like
- Super easy to use with one click
- Works great for streaming abroad
- Very fast connection speeds
- Tech support is generally friendly and helpful
What they complain about
- App often fails to recognize active subscriptions
- Support replies are slow or unhelpful
- Connections frequently drop or timeout unexpectedly
- Does not work reliably on Google TV
Great VPN, Great Support
Provides everything I need in a VPN. Smart DNS feature is particularly useful. Tech support is very strong They very quickly addressed a subscription – sync issue that recently popped up.
I cancelled a year ago and it renewed again this year
Cancel and refund my account And cancel it permanently
App Not Synced With Web Site
Re-subscribed after letting my subscription lapse. Renewal offers were better on web site than on app. Me thinks app not updated as frequently. Also subscription took longer to process. Access was not instantaneous when processing using Apple Pay.
Very erratic service
Sometimes the service allows me to connect to sites I need while away from the UK. Other times it doesn’t not work. While the support team have tried to look into this, the turn-around response time is slow and as part of their support while I am abroad, they have requested to view my screen during UK business hours which ends up being in the middle of the night. I have basically given up on trying to resolve the issues and have paid for a service that is not fit for purpose.
Unreliable
Works perfectly well with iOS on iPhone and iPad. It loses two stars because usage is impossible on Google TVs. One star because it lacks "Leanback launcher icon." for my Google TV and has to be side load launched. Two stars because once the app is started it is impossible to select a vpn location as the screen lacks any gui prompts or any sign of where you are on the menus. You end up hitting buttons on controller randomly trying to get the right location by chance.
Fantastic and reliable VPN
I’ve used this app all over the world during my travels and I have not had one issue yet. It’s reliable and instantly connects you to the region you need when you need it. I highly recommend!
SCAM!!!
I cancelled my subscription two days previous to being charged full price for this supposed service. Do NOT purchase this money-grabbing scam of an App!!!
Works perfect but too expensive
I have looked for vpn for vacation. I do not want a 1 year subscription. 10 euro per week for 3 weeks = 30€ on vacation is far too much. One month for 15 euro instead 89 for 12 month could be a fair deal
No Apple TV app
Been waiting years for an Apple TV app which they told me about 3 years ago was in development. Going to switch to nord vpn at my renewal date.
Bring landscape mode back
Portrait only mode is inconvenient with iPad.
Finally one that works
Been testing quite a bit o VPN apps by now. This one is super easy to use and just works. One click and that is it. Was surprised to find out you can use the account on Apple tvs and many other devices too.
UK no longer reliable
The last several months, UK services no longer work for geo location. I have created support requests to investigate and resolve this but it clearly has fallen on deaf ears and I believe they just lost interest in the issue. It used to work great, but I won’t be renewing. Figures because I signed up for a 2 year agreement. Update August 2025: tested in the UK to the US and live sports also no longer work. This service is not almost useless. US to UK also fails for all but itv. I won’t renew again.
VPN
Good but Some apps can't be blocked.
Quite disappointing
I paid for a year subscription. I have 5 months left of the year subscription and the app has been giving me issues since June. I’ve removed it since.
VPN
Keeps turning off the vpn and signing me out
Used for years
Used flawlessly from Germany for 10 years and now use in vaction home in Aruba. (Hulu was down for a bit but the support team is good at getting on things quickly) Run over 8 TV apps otherwise with no issue. The app on iOS works great!
DO NOT PAY FOR IT
Tried utilizing the app for watching Crunchyroll in Japan didn’t work paid tried the extra 11.99$ for it work and it didn’t an absolute scam
Excellent Support
The level of support makes up for the occasional slow connection or technical glitch.
Kill switch
Im giving this update 2 stars because it misses the kill switch that use to be available in the old version! Plus when i open the app I often find my self disconnected from the vpn and sometimes loged out my account . That’s mean I could be unprotected for hours or days or weeks!! Now I don’t trust this app like before 👎
Erratic
There are times when for the UK this works well and then it just stops, like now. While the support team try to be helpful and are polite and friendly, the only real ask is - sort the problem/s out which they seem unable to do at the moment.
Great Connect Speed
This is one of the few good ones out there. connection time is instant, and connection speeds are pretty wild. I'm getting 200Mbps , and I leave it on for days on end.
Issue checking subscription
I cannot connect to any location. It says that it cannot check the subscription even when my subscription is active. I reinstalled the app and it worked once and now i am getting the same issue
Could be the best
But there’s no support for when things go wrong. There’s no way to contact them except by email form and it takes days for a reply if you’re lucky
No more menu item?
Now I have to run this from the desktop? What happened to the menu item? I know it was a bit buggy, but are you saying you couldn't fix it? Or was it a design choice? I rather have the choise!
New customer
2023 Update - whoever was involved in the improvements UnlocatorVPN has made over the past 6 months needs a raise. Works perfectly now and have no issues connecting or disconnecting if needed. Traveling between countries (US, Korea, Japan, Philippines) without VPN issues is simply awesome! Thank you! Highly recommend to anyone traveling abroad. 5* 2021- Just purchased 2 year plan. Had no problems for the first hour. Tried to add it to my other devices and was unsuccessful. Turned off my iPhone and iPad (which were running fine) to see if there was any issues with them being on at the same time and now I can’t connect at all. It says to check my Internet connection. Still trying but feels like a complete waste of $120.
When it works it’s great, but that’s not often.
It refuses to acknowledge that I have a subscription when i try to use it on my iPad, which is what I use for traveling.
Confused
I downloaded this in hopes of being able to access The CW, but am not having any luck... i followed the steps online but nothing 🤷🏼♀️
The app NEEDS AN UPDATED
I have enjoyed many hours using this app but lately every so often the app stops working... it doesn’t let me log in and keeps showing an error.. sooo please fix that problem
Great Speed
VPN connection is pretty fast. I leave it on for days on end, without ever noticing a drop in speed.
Unable to log in
App worked fine for over a year. Suddenly I am unable to simply log in on the app. Before I logged out this last time, the app simultaneously had me logged in and gave me pricing options to become a member…figure that out?
Ok for phone, does not work anymore on iPad.
Works fine on iPhone. Since last update has not worked on iPad, (2 weeks) won’t sign in and rejects attempts to do so. tech supports suggested a manual change to vpn as they are aware of issues. Ie not using app. I will leave week or 2 to see if update comes out before I cancel.
It DOES work....sometime slow and NO Canada
This VPN works well for the VPN portion, and the smart DNS works well for most European countries. BBC iPlayer works very well. Big miss is Canada. Despite advertising CBC Gem, it does NOT work for it. It just cycles and cycles and inevitably gives an error message. Other Canada based apps are either blocked or work very slowly. This is the case for both the Smart DNS and VPN option. Support is subpar as they don’t seem to understand the problem and keep saying to try again....30 times is enough. Outside of that, seems to be a above average option for Europe.
Had them I’m for over 10 years
Best service ever highly recommended
Hi
It doesn’t connect to any location. I have already emailed twice and got no answer. The previous version worked really well, this doesn’t
Don’t email them for support
VPN is great. But it’s very clear they screen their emails based on the subject. Emailed them about pricing, with subject “MLB2020” (promocode I wanted to apply to my account) and they replied with a automated email with troubleshooting instructions 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️So much for “our team is on standby 24/7.” Safe to say I cancelled my subscription.
Great App
I have used Unlocator for a couple years to avoid MLB blackouts on MLB TV. This app is easy and has a clean interface. Couldn’t be happier with this part of their product.
It’s unusable!
Had this VPN for years and it worked fine most of the time, but recently it has become pretty much unusable. Half of the locations time out and the other half is super slow. I’m switching to a different VPN!
Awesome For Streaming Abroad, Annoying Load Time For App
Great product, allows me to stream HBO and Netflix abroad which I could not do with other VPNs. But the app can be very annoying. Often I have to wait 30-45 seconds, sometimes more, for the app to load and give me the option to turn off the VPN- which is necessary a lot bc the connection is much slower on it. The app should let you flick it off right away so I don’t have to wait for internet until it loads/connects at first.
Must have VPN for spoofing locations
Just got this service and application. Had a minor issue and tech support quickly responded and helped me work out my issues.
Waste of money
Really? I paid 10 dollars just so I could wrestle with the app not even recognizing that I have an email account connected to my subscription? How is this service so primitive that I couldn’t even get to that point? Don’t waste your time/money. Website for support doesn’t work at all, nobody can help, reviews are artificial and useless.
Needs an update
I use the app on a paid basis and I would be happy if an update is provided addressing: 1) connectivity issues 2) ability to work reliably in the background without dropping connection 3) fix issues relating to switching off wifi connectivity on device. Happy with the concept of the app (service in whole) but improvements can actually take it a step further and I’d be happy to renew subscription on a long term permanent basis
