My favorite Pod2.0 platform
Once I started using Podverse, it’s my GoTo for podcasts. Easy to navigate, quick downloads, and a deep access to transcripts and searches. It’s a no-brainer.
Critical feature behind a paywall
I installed this looking for an alternative that was cross-platform and open source - but then I discovered that, despite being open source, they lock a critical feature behind a paywall. Marking an episode as played requires a subscription. Uninstalled and not recommended.
Solid app
Easy to use and appreciate the advanced Podcast 2.0 features. One annoyance, the app auto quits if not used for more than ten minutes or so. I have to then restart it, and it does remember where I left off, but it’s irritating. Also, not all podcasts seem to update new episodes as fast as competitors. Otherwise, solid app. Thanks.
Bluetooth
Can’t control volume from app to BT speakers
Good app, but some glitches
Good app overall, but sometimes podcast accidentally loops back a couple of minutes so that you hear the same thing twice. But usually cuts off the end of the show. Hopefully they fix this issue, but is over a year old issue.
Love this!
Podverse is a great app nothing “suggested” pops up and everything you subscribe to is right at your grasp. Search what you want and most time it is there. (No payment required whatsoever.)
deletes episodes
ive had this app on android, iphone and havocOS.. same problem, episodes i download just disappear
No Agenda
Best Podcast in the Universe
Good start, needs improvement
Simply put: it takes way too long for podcasts to update. I’m still waiting for new episodes to populate in my feed when they’ve been available for listen or download for a day or more on other platforms. Other than that major deal-breaking problem it looks great, runs fine, and is intuitive and easy to operate. If one does not mind that it is effectively a broken app when it comes to timely availability of content, then this is probably the app for you. This app will probably be in the Top-3 podcasts apps once they can correct this issue. Until then there’s no reason to use an app which will only be reliably late with content.
Weird CarPlay issues
Works ok. Latency starting up and it won’t work on CarPlay unless you unlock your phone. Kind of defeats the purpose of CarPlay. I have to pick up my phone and interact with it if I want to use the app in CarPlay.
In the morning
Excellent
Pushy advertising
I get it. The creators of the app want you to upgrade to premium, but they don’t have to blast the advertising volume at you. When you do upgrade premium it just makes the advertising silent in the middle of the podcast, instead of getting rid of the advertising. Their doesn’t seem to be a way to end your account on the app.
Love it but will revisit in a year
I like Podverse and the idea behind it. I thought it was going to be my last podcast app because it works on all platforms (and I like switching). But it is just too slow for me. In the morning I just want to tap tap start a podcast but it may take anywhere between 10 sec to minutes before I’m actually listening. I only listen on my device so it’s useless for me to wait for wat feels like a massive amount of syncing every time I open the app. Let’s see in another year if it got better, it did massively improve over the last year so I’m hopeful.
Plays wrong podcast and slow
Three times in a row the player plays wrong podcast showing album art from a different one. Alow to start playing even tho supposed to have been downloaded. Missing player controls to start at specified interval ir 2 minutes in to skip ads.
Should be better for paying customers
Depending on WiFi or just what’s going on at their end, podcast episodes won’t show up in the list (yes, WITH the correct filter). Lots of errors when downloading the episodes to the app, if I had to guess maybe 33% of the episodes have errors or the download offloads so I have to redownload (and yes, I don’t have “delete after listening” enabled). Shopping for new app.
Amazing MODERN podcast app
In The Morning! Amazing app that supports the newest podcasting features. Definite download.
CarPlay keeps crashing!
I think this started about three weeks ago with the latest update. I can listen via CarPlay in the background (i.e. with the default car screen up), but when I switch to the CarPlay screen, Podverse crashes 100% of the time. That coupled with the fact that some of my podcasts say that “no episodes could be found,” has me looking for a better podcast 2.0 app.
Slow to load
Great podcast player but very slow to open.
Losing Downloads
This app is usually solid but lately I keep losing downloads. Idk if it’s some sort of intentional glitch to boost downloads for fraud but it’s getting to be frustrating using this app.
Love the app, but it sometimes just literally will not work.
Love the app, bought the paid version because I want to support small developers. But geez, quite often the app literally just does not load anything. For a day or two I cannot listen to anything it’s really frustrating. And no it’s not my service or phone or whatever, it’s only this app that refuses to work. iPhone 12 Pro for reference. Please please fix, I may be forced to cancel my subscription because what’s the use if it doesn’t work.
Love it, and a request
Great podcast app. Love supporting podcasting 2.0 podcast apps and listening to no agenda show and others on here. Is it possible to be able to sync where you left off across devices? That might be an proprietary apple thing. Thanks anyways and great app.
Ads are terrible
So disgusting to hear a planned parenthood ad before a pro life podcast. This is absolutely intentional.
Best Podcast App
its the best!! hands down used am all
Stopped Working
The app was working fine until today when it stopped functioning properly and became essentially unusable. After opening the app I only see a spinning circle animation and nothing happens no matter how long I wait. Other podcast apps (Overcast, etc) are functioning as intended, so it’s not my connectivity problem.
Disappointing
I paid for an annual premium account and stopped using it. The app sounds great on paper but chapters don’t work very well, adding an RSS feed is hit or miss, many podcasts not in their directory.
Great app
Works well with a bunch of features
“Pardon the interruption”
App is useless, doesn’t work. Constantly getting “pardon the interruption” message that I can’t close. Broken.
Bye Bye Apple Podcast
Logged in to AP to find episodes deleted for some woke bullshat reason. No more. I’m even typing this on the last iPhone I’ll ever buy.
Whats the point of downloading episodes?
Why is it impossible to listen to downloaded episodes if the phone is offline? What's the purpose of this function?
Until Recently….
Not sure what happened with the last version, but I’ve lost the ability to display downloaded episodes. If I set it to “Downloaded”, nothing is displayed. If I choose “Episodes”, the downloaded ones will show up there. Very odd. Tough getting a response from P.
Great product and support
Open Source
Heading towards perfect
The sharing button does not work on any episodes I tried to use it on; there should be a way to see the raw podcast rss or xml via an advanced button for debugging: thanks for a great app!
I wanted to love it but it fell short
I loved the podcasting 2.0 features. But it seems to lack podcasting 1.0 features like auto downloading, and queueing podcasts for play. It has controls for this but fails to actually do it. I’ve had to manually go in and do it. It also doesn’t delete episodes after playing them. Maybe it’s just the iOS version that has issues. But I’d rather subscribe to a set of podcasts, create a playlist of them and have it automatically download new episodes and add them to the playlist and then delete them after they’ve been played.
One navigational tweak
One minor navigational tweak would greatly improve the experience. When I am listening to a podcast and have the player open, I would love to be able to swipe down to go back to the previous menu, instead of having to reach all the way to the top left to click the back button. All of the other podcast apps I use have this, to the point where this app stands out because it doesn’t. It’s very minor but it’s so impactful that it leads me to use the other apps instead of this one.
Search function doesn’t work
The search function fails to work within rss feed. This makes it very difficult to find certain recommended podcasts.
Best podcast app.
Listen and donate to No Agenda for making this possible. Crime in Sports et al is hilarious. I laughed so hard that I needed medical attention, literally.
Good but auto download doesn’t work
Overall a decent standard podcast player, but the auto-download feature which should download new episodes doesn’t work. Contacted the publisher via email, Twitter, Reddit and still got no response. If that feature worked I’d definitely give it 5*
Love
Really enjoyed listening to NoAgenda on Podverse. Love the updated art work and how you can see the topic changes on time line. Good work. Love the chapters even though I listen live!
