What people like
- One-time payment no monthly subscription
- Filters look realistic and authentic
- Great tutorials for learning photography
- Clean and easy to use interface
What they complain about
- App freezes and crashes often
- Grain disappears when you save photos
- Developer ignores customer support emails
- Saved files are huge in size
Love the tutorials
For a person who doesn’t know what the art of photography is this app is a boon the tutorials do give a lot of info and assignments to improve your photography skills
Please add support for Apple share extension
So I can share photo in photo album to app
Great
This is a fantastic app which I find to give realistic looking film photos, the pro version is well worth the £5. My only gripe is how big the photo files are when saving them.. around 60mb. This really adds up when I use this app so much. I would like to see updates on the app with more light leak options
Selection or full access
I’m being asked if only a selection or full access to my photos. If I choose selection only I can’t access any other photos than the previous once used. That doesn’t make sense. Going back and trying to change that decision isn’t possible - because it doesn’t show. I need to wait 24hrs until all options are available again?
48mp iPhone 14 pro please
And I’ll not just pay for the pro version but I’ll happily do monthly pay and give you 5 stars.
Best, at any price!
Best film emulator app that I’ve tried, and it’s DIRT CHEAP!!! I don’t ordinarily leave reviews, but this app is worth it! Fricken’ LOVE IT!
Disappointed
I bought this app hoping for at least some acceptable simple photo grain filters that don’t distort the image. Ugh. Nope. There’s absolutely nothing of any use in this app for me. Very disappointed.
One feature lacking
As a photographer who used the .5 wide angle lens option on my phone 80% of the time I’m sad this otherwise excellent app will not accommodate my needs. I love the results and the clean effective interface but I do have to go elsewhere to other similar apps to meet my needs. Maybe I’m alone in this but I just thought I’d point it out before you bought it and like me was disappointed.
Crashes
Unstable. Dev should read automatic crash reports they get from Apple and fix things. The UI is also busted: taps go through save buttons.

Hope you add more photography training materials in the future. You are an amazing trainer/instructor. I learned so many photography lessons from presented training materials. With Kindest Regards-BR
Barely usable but has potential
Update, Aug. 2024: this app is dead. Doesn’t open at all. This app has a lot of bugs when it comes to simply loading or opening/closing things. It takes 15 seconds or more after tapping the + icon to begin an edit. There’s similar lag when your camera roll loads up, and you have no ability to sort by recently added vs capture date. The album icon doesn’t work at all and just freezes the app on my iPhone 14 Pro Max (using the paid premium $5 version). Other similar stuff like tapping X to close an image, or tapping the yes/no prompts takes 5-10 seconds for the app to respond. It’s so laggy that my iPhone screen often times out and turns off before the app opens a photo. That’s pretty bad. I don’t have any of these issues in Lightroom, which I’m sure is a much larger and more complex app In terms of the film filters and editing options, that’s definitely the strongest element of the app but could use some improvements. Sliding the film ISO to another setting doesn’t lock in the ISO, you have to tap a second time to set it or the app discards your change. Unnecessary. I’d like to see an option to rotate the dust and light leak overlays so you can choose what side of your photo the effect displays — that would make them much more usable and flexible An option to add film frames / borders would be nice and feels like something you’d expect to see in an app like this; kind of silly to go all-in on film vibes here only to export the photo and open it in another app just to add film border
Great filters but
Still have to wait for loading of photos
Distorts perfectly crisp images
This app takes perfect, crisp images, then degrades them all the same, to give it that "vintage film" look, then they just add the same stupid filters everyone else had to begin with. Hipstamatic is far superior

Fun tool, well designed
Great way to explore and appreciate the old films.
Buggy App
I bought the premium version of the app only to discover that the grain settings are discarded when you save the photo to camera roll, thus losing its vintage feel. I reported this to the developer a few weeks ago and got no response. AVOID THE APP AND LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Shazam!
I need to start photographing more boxing matches because this app knocks me out.
一般般～～～
就是看了app store今日推荐来的，结果大失所望。这推荐不是坑人吗～
Great idea, slow/crashes at startup
This app is fun and artistic when it works but more than not when I launch it it will take a LONG time to launch (iCloud photos can cause this problem with some apps but others have no issue) and many times it freezes or crashes. Hoping for some fixes to these problems.
pretty cool
idk pretty cool
Never answers emails
2nd email and no response. Poor customer service.
Good analog film app
This app has a wide variety of free filters such as Kodakchrome which add very interesting vintage mood to your photos.
Was Cool
This app worked with pics in my photo album but now it only wants to use my screenshot folder. Weird turn of events might delete
Lost my purchase?
Paid for the full thing a while months ago and it was definitely worth the money and I love spending hours editing my photos on this app. However I’ve just come onto the app and it’s telling me I need to pay a fiver for the full version and half the filters are now locked. Pretty gutted as I’ve already paid for it before.
Loving this camera
Been experimenting with BnW at bit. Was originally using the app for processing. Now I’m loving the camera with the ability to see films before The Click.
Can’t zoom in to see photo in detail
And grain level doesn’t seem to be adjustable
Worth the pro version
I like how the pro version is a one time think you buy not a monthly subscription. And it’s not over priced and they even do limited time discounts sometimes. The only downside I had was you don’t have an account so when I switched phones I had to buy pro again because there is no login. other than that it’s a great app with cool filters and affects, and they are still adding to it... I think.
Opening photos just hangs
I’d like to have tried this app properly and am glad I didn’t pay for it (as it prompts you to first) as when I go to open a photo (iphone 11 pro) it just hangs for ages, when it finally does show me my library, it’s not sorted with most recent first, and if I try to do anything else it just hangs again (indefinitely). It’s basically unusable and clearly hasn’t been tested properly unfortunately.
needs work
but great idea
Dope app
Nice
Unable to move light leak on photos
You can’t move the light leaks to where you want
Good app but not exactly great
I loved the content on composition. Pretty good stuff. The app itself is not that great. There are better apps for filters.
รูปที่เซฟออกมาไม่เหมือนในแอป
รูปตัวอย่างตอนแต่งกับรูปตอนเซฟออกมาไม่ค่อยเหมือนกัน
Was about to buy the Pro version but...
...all the writing and labels, numbers etc in the interface are far far too small!!!! Will purchase pro version if the interface fonts are all enlarged so they are at least readable.
I live film
Excellent App it makes you understand the historical photography and helps you to analyze the old pictures. It also helps you to explain to someone who has questions about different colors. Thank you
One star for one reason.
In the first 3 minutes the app asked me for a fracking rating. I have not even used it yet. I paid the $5 no leave me the frack alone.
Good but needs work on saving
Great app but the film grain doesn’t translate all the way when you save to your photos

存储够体积太大了！！！
为什么照片存储后，容量那么大？一张照片变成20-40M 有点太夸张

Very good App m. I like the Film
Scam
Yikes. Learn from my mistakes and save your money.
LOVE THIS APP BUT.....
it would be nice if we could have the option to take pictures with the volume button. So that and this is a 5 star app

内容挺好的、就是保存不了 强退
Lacking
No borders/frames 😕
Lucious
I love, love, love the esthetics of this app. It’s bright, uncluttered, and sleek. The UI design is totally user-friendly, and the filters themselves each have an identity. They’re carefully chosen, IMO—I think Marcus Carlson prefers quality over quantity. (Seriously, too many filters becomes overwhelming. Better to have a good basic set of filters, than to have hundreds that just repeat themselves). I definitely recommend this app, as I do the developer’s other photo apps. He brings attention and dedication to each one.
Free to download
Then it’s $4 and not worth it
Nice B&W presets
Brings the presets from DxO Filmpak to iOS. Only problem I have (and it’s major) is I work with raw image files. ILF won’t load these files saved from Lightroom Mobile CC.
一般般
个人使用感觉胶片模拟的一般，黑色颗粒感太明显，影响整张照片的成像效果，希望开发者能够尽快改进
Ok, but not convincing
I can’t change the amount of grain and it appears not to scale with the image size. I don’t find many of the film stocks very convincing and many are super low contrast no solid blacks - with film this wouldn’t ever be the case if the film was developed and printed properly. I’d prefer fewer authentic film stocks than breadth there they aren’t convincing. These minor tweaks of tone curves plus some invariable grain are just as easily done in snapseed which also has a million other tools.
