What people like
- Simple design with no distracting features
- No ads or required accounts
- Sleek visual interface looks great
- Integrates with Apple Health easily
What they complain about
- End bell often fails to sound
- Timer stops when screen goes dark
- Watch app is buggy and unreliable
- Sound doesn't work if phone is muted
Literally perfect
It’s just a meditation timer. That’s it. The simplicity and sleek design are perfect.
Doesn’t work on watch
The app looks nice, unfortunately it doesn’t work on my watch. I start a meditation, look at my watch later and it’s on the Home Screen. I open the app again and it offers me the option to start a meditation.
Apple Health integration?
Am I missing how to connect Apple’s Health app integration on macOS? How can I do it? If it’s not a part of the app, can you add it?
almost works
This app would be great, pretty much perfect, except that the sound does not play when an iPhone is muted. Since you want your iPhone muted when you meditate, this is a serious difficulty. If it gets fixed, I would love this app.
End timer broken half the time
It would be a great app except that the end of the timer doesn't fire half of the time at random, making it unusable
All it is nothing else
Center is an app. Free. Free not “free.” It is a timer for meditation. Logs the Mindfulness minutes in app and the Health app. Only that. It is immaculate.
Does not stay working in the background
I need to use 2 apps to meditate: one a timer and one a counter. When I switch back and forth from the counter to the timer, the timer stops. This doesn’t work for me. What’s worse — the author thinks this means I’m distracted. They don’t understand how a ngondro practice works I suppose? Perhaps instead of accusing me of being a bad meditator they could take time to understand me?
Almost perfect, worth a donation
This app is almost the perfect meditation app. It simply does the job without requiring an account, without data tracking, without any ads. There are a couple bugs/quirks, like the chime not playing when the phone is in silent mode, but that may just be a limitation with iOS development and is completely manageable. Be mindful of your phone’s state and the app works great!
Didn’t work for me
I set up a test session of 3 minutes with 3 interviews, pressed Start, and after less than 1 seconds, End appeared. Tried a longer time: same result. Even if it did work, changing the session length takes too much effort. I did like the circling colours effect.
Design issues
I like this tracker but there are a few things that need to get fixed. For some reason when I do a meditation at 9pm it saves it for the next day. When I add a session for a previous day it saves it on the bar graph as the current day, making my track inacurate.
Great app
I love the simplicity of this app. It’s straightforward and does the job beautifully.
Interval does not work
Since the most recent update, the interval function no longer works. Additionally, the screen goes dark during sessions, and there’s no alert at the end of the session. These features worked perfectly before the update, so I’m wondering if your team is aware of these issues. Could you clarify what the update was intended to improve? I hope these bugs can be addressed soon, as the app was working great prior to this. Thank you.
Timer stops when screen is locked
It’s a nice looking app, but the timer stops if the screen is locked.
Doesn’t seem to work on latest OS
Looks great but as soon as I hit start it immediately ends. Maybe a bug with the latest iOS. Makes meditation practice very easy and quick. I’d not that effective 😂
Great app - but now closes every time I try to change the duration. iPhone 12 mini.
Great app - but recently does not let me change the duration of my meditation session. The app just closes. iPhone 12 mini. Thanks!
Crisp experience
Simple yet useful. Many thanks
Doesn’t Work
It turns itself off as soon as the iPad screen sleeps no matter what you do with the settings
Great but small complaint.
Been using for years with no issues but disappointed with recent update that has peaked my total time and day count to only a year. Not that it matters but knowing my total time has been useful and I haven’t been able to reach anyone via email to address the grievance.
Watch app
I used the timer on my watch, sat and meditated after hitting “start”…not sure how long I sat there but there was no indication of when the timer was complete and the app itself was no longer open on my watch, and no record of ever having meditated. Crappy first experience.
We need fix
When I updated the app, many new features appeared, and that’s great! However, the app started consuming a lot of battery. Considering that it’s just a simple stopwatch and not a complex graphical application, this is unacceptable. And please bring back the previous gong sound, where there were three consecutive strikes in a single recording, instead of three separately repeated single strikes.
Great simple timer
I was looking for a basic timer without all of the distracting content. This one works an loos great
Anti-mindfulness non-timer
In theory, this app has everything that I want in a meditation timer. In practice, it is buggy to the point that it interferes with my meditation. Most significantly, as other reviews have noted, the end bell is unreliable and often never sounds. This makes meditation impossible since I am frequently wondering whether the session should be over and end up interrupting the session frequently to check the time so that I do not end up going to work late. This basically makes the app an anti-mindfulness timer. Also, the apple watch app (I’m using a series 8) does not really work at all. The timer freezes often and then even when you complete a session and “save” it, it saves it to nowhere—it does not get reflected in the log on the iphone app, nor does it get logged to mindfulness minutes. I would advise the creator to either start maintaining this app or remove it from the app store. A timer is not a particularly complicated application, so having your name associated with a timer that is so buggy as to be unusable cannot be a good thing.
Simple, nice, but …
What happened to the watch app?! This is what a meditation timer should be, simple and effective. Add a watch complication (one that records partial sessions) and it would get five stars.
No sound
Doesn’t wake me up from meditation, so it’s useless to me
It used to be more simple and delightful
Recently this app added a lot of features that I don’t care for but are impossible to avoid. It’s cluttered the app significantly. What actually upsets me the most however is that the chimes now sound terrible. It used to be that the sound of the three chimes at the end of the meditation were overlaid and allowed to resonate however with the recent update each chime prematurely stops the previous chime’s resonance which results in a very artificial sound and experience at the end of the meditation. I think I’ll just go find an app for reminders + sounds at this point.
Perfect
Exactly what is was looking for
Beautiful, doesn't work
I’ve tried using this app on my watch but unfortunately it never gives the end bell. I understand you can never have too much meditation, though this is a stressful way to reinforce that principle
Good concept but a couple of issues
There are a couple of issues preventing me from using the app. I think if this were open-sourced, those of us who would like to use this app could help resolve those issues
Phone sleeps during practice
The app is super nice, but there two problem: during the meditation the phone sleeps so I can’t see the timer. iPhone 6s The Watch App is useless, because it doesn’t measure time when the watch goes to sleep. Also it doesn’t sync logged time back to the iPhone.
Interval sounds no longer played
I’ve been happily using this app for several years, but after the new update my interval sounds are no longer playing. I get the start bell and the end bell but not the bells at the 3 intervals I have set. I tried contacting the dev through the app’s support link, but my email bounced.
Love this app - worth the donation
It’s simple. That’s all I want in a meditation timer. Simplicity. I donated the $17.99 because the creator deserves the support.
So close
Why does this meditation timer not signal the end of a session? Seems like a simple thing that they should have nailed on an initial release-sort of the one thing the app should do, right? I don’t think it should be so non-intuitive with an otherwise simple and intuitive app.
Chime is not working
I just downloaded this app because it is exactly what I’m looking for from a meditation timer. The only bummer is that there is a bug — the chimes are not working!
Looks great but not working
Doesn’t record sessions. Manual record screen broken in app. Looks great and will be when fixed.
Can’t enable sleep in settings
Really nice app but screen sleep is stuck in disabled! Wastes battery :(
great app
simple and does what you need it to do
Timer cannot be trusted.
When your phone goes to sleep, the timer just stops and fails to notify you when your session is done.
Great app!
No nonsense. Simple. Doesn’t harass you with sharing options or guided meditations. I also love the preparation graphic that loosely constricts into the timer. I do wish it had a manual entry option. If you catch 10 minutes without your phone you can’t enter it, which might impact your streak, which I neurotically need to maintain.
Great, except...
I really wanna give it five stars. I love the ease and simplicity of it, but I just really hate that I can’t play music while the app is open. I understand that’s the point of the app, but I wish that there was an option to play your own music if you choose. I think it’d be beneficial to just let me play my own music as the app is open. Other than that I really love it.
Amazing
An amazing app from top to bottom
This app had one job
I guess I never knew what a habit of pressing my lock screen button I have. This app has only been useful to me the one or two times I forget to press the home lock button before I start meditating. If I do press it on accident there is no warning but the meditation timer turns off it will not alert me when meditation time is over. This makes the timer completely useless when you do this, as I cannot figure out how to make it work while on the lock screen. And today it turned off on its own, without me even touching the button! There seems to be a button to fix this but I can’t click it. You have one job timer! Everything else? Just right. Thank you for the effort, it’s almost there, but it’s simply useless when this happens hence one star.
Great app but apple watch & iphone data doesn’t sync!
everything about this app is awesome except tracker on apple watch & phone don’t sync.
No Sound
I tried this twice and it never made any sound at the end of my meditation. Thankfully I could somehow feel that the time had elapsed. This app is great if you stare at the screen while meditating but without sound it’s useless to me.
Ideal for me
For my meditative and contemplative prayer purposes I’ve found this app to be the perfect fit. Simple to use in all the right ways. Thank you to the developers.
Great until sounds stopped
I noticed after a few sessions the sound reminder stipe spending with no way to review this in the app settings shame as nice app
Make the alarm work with silent ringer
Great app! Beautiful and simple interface. The only annoyance is the bell doesn’t ring without turning the ringer on.
No session end noise
I don’t hear anything to signal the session is over and there is no option to adjust this at all only for sounds that will play at intervals during the timer itself but not at the end
