What people like
- Great for local city and regeneration news
- Excellent source for local football updates
- Works much better than the website
What they complain about
- You have to pay for most articles now
- Comments section is gone or heavily moderated
- News stories are often old or recycled
- App does not support larger text settings
I used to like this app…
Just updated the app and it is now inaccessible. Such a shame as I enjoy reading through it. The problem has been fixed and I can now enjoy the app again. Many thanks.
Local news is premium
That is outrageous weather going to be high making people pay to check the weather article when the weather app is free, local news should be free with ads at the most any news kit of Nottingham sure make it’s a premium article but charging for local news is wrong. Guarantee this goes against Apple TOS.
Nottingham live
Website is terrible unless you download the app, then it works fine
New changes are rubbish
Bring back the old Nottingham Live where you got more information. I can understand the need to make money but some articles could be subscription only but this is useless now without a payment
Lag
Very laggy after latest update. Was ok before updating
Great for a quick catch up
Read most days first and last thing. From home or when away. Great just to keep updated Thank you
Introducing cost
News is not new - football results and match reports appear the day after the game Lots of spelling mistakes and any big stories are on the national newspapers online free of charge Headline - major accident on A52 - mote news to follow Two days later same headline and report Not worth the money
Great App
The first thing I do every morning is check this App. It's excellent for every Forest fan
Scrolling down
What is it with the app that when reading an article and when you need to scroll down to keep reading the article it auto scrolls to the end of the article so then you scroll back up and find where you was
Slow news
Some stories seem to stay on here forever
Great
Great app for forest news
Paywall
Ah! The re-brand back to Nottingham Post wasn't just a name change, this is now a subscription app. Deleted!
Articles
So now it’s dropped down to 15 “free” articles a week before you have to pay to read anymore! Thought that’s why there were adverts across the app!! Suppose when limit is reached, we can always go and read them for free on Facebook instead😊
It’s ok but...
The stories under headings Top stories and News are not in chronological order. For example there is one about a crash in the top 10 stories that has been there 6 weeks yet new stories on the www page do not always appear in the app.
Very informative
Looking on here quite often to see how we are regarding Coronavirus updates.
Notifications don’t work!!
Notifications don’t work on iPhone 15 and no option to switch them on. No app support available. Just went into a big loop of time wasting!!
What’s happened ?
Where on earth has my local news preferences disappeared to?
Good aggregate source
One thing that this needs is the removal of the comments section, living in the Midlands is bad enough without seeing the ramblings of the mouth breathing, racist armchair politicians and captain hindsights that think they know every law and facet of the inner workings of the country and that they could do better. It makes the rest of us look bad.
A shortfall.....explained!
I was going to downgrade my rating.....until I saw their explanation for the removal of comments! This is an excellent app for news about Nottingham! Roll on comments returning!
Not very accessible
I installed the app hoping it would be better than the website, but for me it is not. The main website is awful if you are visually impaired like me and need to use large type as the spacing around the title header and adverts enlarges too leaving only enough room to read a line or two at a time. If you use the “Reader” function in Safari you can get the right font size for articles without adverts in the way, but then you can’t read the comments, and the homepage of headlines isn’t enlarged properly and is still obscured by adverts. I tried this app on my iPad which has larger fonts setup for apps that support dynamic type, but not all apps adopt this standard and it would appear the NL app does not either. The font might be slightly enlarged, but is about a quarter of the size I have tried to set it to. The app has an “Accessibility” tab but the only available option is to turn off animations in ads, which doesn’t seem to work anyway. I’m going to delete the app and go back to struggling to see the website.
Really
App seams alright, but notifications constantly about forest, seriously
Nottingham Live
The App will not refresh with a swipe, needs to be shut down and re-opened twice!
Nottingham the place l Love
Local news for Local people .No better place in England 😊😊
Deleted app
Was once my go to app for news but are charging now so bye bye Nottingham live
Nottingham Post
I like keeping up with whats happening in my home city - and this app allows that. Especially the city’s regeneration and developments updates The only feedback I’d give is after each app update I’ve lost my saved bookmarks and other than that there’s no way to look through the previous news/ articles that were on the app.
Don’t bother!!!!
You’ve now got to pay for a subscription so don’t bother, plenty of better free news apps out there
Latest
I particularly like up-to-the minute latest, local news
Articles copied and duplicated
Have been unhappy with the fact that they appear to mix news from other sources, repeating previous news items and even poor transactions at times with attention grabbing (and often misleading) headlines as a way of generating views for advertisers Now their is a subscription to view more than around 2 paragraphs of the better articles so a nail in the coffin for me
Very Useful
Been using this app for a couple of months. Can’t recommend it highly enough
Comments Dominated by the Hard Left
Unfortunately the hard left and woke dominate the comments. They harass and insult those who don’t share their ideology. I deleted the app for that reason.
No free speech
App and reporting is ok , but put a comment that is not offensive in any way but some people will not agree with but some will , and it will be removed with “content disabled “ . Seriously, what happened to free speech and healthy debate ??
