Amazing
I like that this app helps people who travel to Japan get real info about the places they want to visit. Especially latest information which you may not get from the internet. You would usually get quick responses and concierges are super friendly! And I also love the fact that you can watch tabiko tv where concierges post videos about places all around Japan.

This app is quite useful but lacks some improvements.
Excelente herramienta / excellent tool
I had doubts before I used it. It was an excellent tool to deal with the near impossible communication with most of the high end restaurants in Tokyo. The team of Tabiko not only help with it but also give some advise. Tenia dudas antes de usar este servicio. Fue una herramienta excelente. Muy util para comunicarse con los restaurantes de alto nivel en Tokyo

It’s good still..but
I used to like this app. Very fast responses and very helpful people. The first few times I didn’t get charged for asking them to make reservations. But now, they ask for 1000yen for one successful reservation. It’s a bit unreasonable. Let’s say I am travelling for 2 weeks, and everyday I need to make at least 2 reservations, that will cost me a bomb and that amount can pay for meals already. I know it’s a free app, I would rather pay for the app, than paying so much for one reservation.

Very helpful and I wish more people knew about this app when traveling. Our concierge was able to help us find restaurants, make reservations, and give us more info on events. I feel like this app would be great for anyone traveling who doesn’t know the language well.

Update: Payment model is unreasonable
The service has now moved to a payment model, where if they are successful with a booking or reservation, they charge a fee. Normally I’d be okay with this, but I think a $10 fee is way too much for a single successful restaurant reservation. I was expecting $1 or so per successful booking (or charge based on a case by case basis). Original five star text below: This app is like having an immediate personal concierge service available to you for anything that requires the Nihongo you don’t have. Haven’t used it yet for recommendations, but using the app for my first reservation was better than my concierge service I get from my credit cards. This app is staying on my home screen while I’m in Japan. Honestly impressed with the live chat - I was expected an automated mess and a big delay before a real person got back to me. They even wanted to confirm they had the right restaurant before they called to book the reservation. I hope this app/service does well, I wouldn’t mind paying a low fee to use it for my vacation next year if it will continue to be this smooth.

Wonderful app with responsive locals to help you plan the perfect stay in Japan. I used this to visit Kyoto and Tokyo. From booking hotels and finding the best restaurants to figuring out if the Kyoto station has lockers big enough to store my luggage. Extremely helpful tool while traveling through Japan.

Helpful but reply is a bit slow
The staff are nice and helpful, only they don’t reply frequently. Even we were talking about the booking last minute, and then they could disappear for 1 hour from next minute onwards, which is a bit frustrated while I was facing those Japanese letters alone.

Jessie was so kind and sweet! I’m currently planning a trip to Japan. However, because I’m only in the process of budgeting, it will be a couple of years until I make the jump to go. Nonetheless, Jessie still took the time to answer all of my questions and offered to assist me in planning an itinerary! Definitely will be using this app in the future and will recommend it to anyone who plans on traveling to Japan! 😊

This is a great app to use when you are in Japan. The staff was very helpful and answered my questions very quickly. I suggest you get a mobile wifi router or a data plan so you can chat with them in real time.

Used to be a free app , helped me to book an inn in Ine , kyoto in 2017, but there are no replies to my queries now… guess they are expecting some fees . 1star

Worked well until it didn’t
Worked well in the beginning. But then I got signed out for some reason and couldn’t sign back in. Tried to reset password but it took forever to get the reset password email and even when I finally received the email and tried the reset my password the app just doesn’t do anything. You press ‘ok’ or log in and nothing happens.

Waste of Time for reservations!!!
I had a four day conversation going repeatedly asking them to book me reservations close to my hotel and they kept delaying and after 5 days i have no reservations! HUGE LET DOWN! Don’t waste your money!

I am planning a trip to Osaka for this March. I downloaded the app just to try it out. I thought I would be chatting with a bot. NOPE! I chatted with a real person who was very knowledgeable and pleasant! Mika made some great suggestions for activities and places to visit with my boys. They weren’t canned answers either as she asked about their ages and interests and responded accordingly. She was even willing to recommend hotels, but I didn’t want to take up all her time so I’ll save that convo for another day. The app is simple to use and the information is invaluable! I cannot believe this app is FREE! I am definitely using this app more often to plan our trips to Japan!
Disappointing
Only good for booking hotels, restaurants, and air travel. Useless for anything else.

Like your secret Japan superpower!
Just started using the app and so far this is amazing! Since so many Tokyo restaurants require reservations by phone (and only in Japanese) having some wonderful folks on the ground in Japan who can do this for you is like having superpowers (and no high-end hotel concierge needed.) My only suggestion: Charge more :) While 1000¥ per reservation is great, I’ve been making the concierges do tons of research and make lots of calls and I feel like I should be paying more (and would be happy to do so.) Maybe a per-day charge for the length of your trip?

This is probably one of the worst apps I’ve ever used to travel advice. The people on the chat don’t care about trying to give advice and are very passive aggressive in their responses. I might even take time out to report this garbage app. Rude employees and I really hope this app fails to make those pieces of trash unemployed

Great app overall
Very useful and easy to use, and staff are friendly and helpful. The service fee charged for bookings are also quite reasonable compared with similar services. There is one aspect that can be improved however, and that is how proactive the staff are with their follow ups and updates. I wanted to make a reservation at a restaurant, but it was too early and the restaurant was not yet open. I was told the booking would be made once it opened, but I received no further update after that. Upon asking for an update later that day I was told that the restaurant was actually closed as it was a long weekend, and I had to wait until Monday before they could try booking again. Then on Monday, again I received no further updates and had to make the reservation request again before getting a response and finally a confirmed reservation. It wasn’t a big problem but Gurunavi, for example, was much more proactive with their assistance and following up with bookings, and if Tabiko made some improvements in this area the app/service would be perfect!
