How to cancel
I downvoted this game but decide to new it, but I cannot find a way to do that. I don’t want to be charged for it. Please let me know
Short & sweet
I enjoyed this, the story was sweet and I like the graphic style. It’s more of a short puzzle / story than a game. If this was developed into more levels and stories I’d probably keep going. One thing I felt was missing was a gap in the story near the end, it felt like a big jump, from the last memory to the end, like a piece was missing. Overall it was fun and sweet, no regrets for $2
Shame about the moving about
I only lasted about 5 mins, as moving the landscape around was too tedious (and not intuitive). Shame as the graphics looked good.
A bit boring and too expensive
The game is short for that price and kind of boring but it’s not awful. You need to move the landscape around so the old man can go from point A to point B. The logics of the game are sometimes confusing and the levels are quite repetitive. It’s ok but not my thing.
Most intriguing and artistic
The most inventive puzzle game I’ve ever seen and beautiful
Journey stops in the middle
Journey ended abruptly with character stuck waiting for a boat? Inept puzzle not worth the money
Beautiful game
Lovely game that allows you to slow down and think deeply. Only 4 stars because I finished it in just an hour or two and there was really only one line of story to follow, would love more story, puzzles and options to really engage with.
Beatiful
Beautiful story, beautiful music, art and animation. I have played it over and over through the years.
Not Enough Help
I got tired of the endless puzzles with no hints or help. Maybe for someone with endless time on their hands this is good but I’m out of here.
Very Short
I paid over $5 for a game that only lasted 90 minutes. While the story was amazing, and the game play and controls were nice, it was not worth the $5+ that I paid to own it and occupy myself for only 90 minutes. Not worth the investment in my opinion. It gets 3 stars for its controls, story and overall easy play and understanding.
Exquisite Game
I loved everything about this game-the music, the art, the graphics, the story. Gorgeous playing experience.
Not a game
Nice graphics but not a game, just a long drawn out not so clever story…and clearly developed without adequate input from old men.
Accessible and Intriguing
Divided up into quick chapters, perfect for waiting for your coffee or the tube. Seemingly easy mechanic but does get rewardingly difficult - Id press every button and only really figure it out by chance, but I still felt satisfied to complete. Though I have NO CLUE still about the sheep mechanics 😂 Wish you could save each postcard at the end of the levels so you could watch them all in one go to remind yourself of how the story is developing.
Pretty and that’s it.
Pretty but very short, repetitive and unchallenging. It’s supposed to tell the story of the main character, but since his persona is not developed at all in the game, it just doesn’t work. Plus the story is way too predictable. Would not buy again.
Honest review
This game was absolutely beautiful -- as was the story line. Way too short.
Quaint yet Profound
In a world built upon stimulation at all costs, even the cost of our collective peace of mind, its inspiring to see people putting so much time and passion into something that understands the true value at the heart of the human experience: love, togetherness, and an appreciation for the simplicity of one’s surroundings. Just as the titular protagonist learns the of the greater importance of relationships over excitement, this game teaches the gamers who play it much the same lesson. It’s not a journey through a setting so much as through one’s own heart. Now with the Hallmark Card content out of the way, here’s my take on the gameplay. While some complain of the games short storyline, this misses the point of the game: the entertainment value of the game doesn’t come from keeping your attention for as long as possible, but from taking in each and every scene and story beat and reading into them an entire lifetime. As for environmental interaction, I’d say that a helpful hint wouldn’t hurt now and again since the most important detail for making progress isn’t quite that obvious. Still, this comes down more to personal preference since some people will love the fact that they need to figure it out for themselves, just as an adventurer must. Finally, the setting is spectacular with a simplistic storybook feel that allows you to put as much of yourself into it as you like without being reduced to “make of it what you will.” The important thing is that the journey is about a man learning to see the beauty in what’s right in front of him, not amazing far-away places oversaturated in stimulating effects; thus the setting emphasizes simplicity but gives you a sense of scale and wonderment in which even a grassy hill or a bench conceals something much deeper in meaning. Overall, a lovely time spent joining an explorer on his grandest adventure of all. My only real complaint is the underwater scene. Besides straining my suspension of disbelief given how long the Old Man is holding his breath for, it really doesn’t contribute much to the ambience or journey besides trying to add diversity to the environment, somewhat undermining the game’s message. Even then, it doesn’t last long and is more of a narrative non-sequitur than a level that devastates the quality of the gaming experience. Please make more games like this.
Broken
I get to a certain point and ride a pickup truck ... forever
Personal preference
I love the art style I can only compare it to Oxenfree. What is disappointing is that you can’t zoom in & get more detail. Game style is similar to Between The Gardens. Great graphics wonderful soundtrack but this puzzle style isn’t my favorite.
Beautiful game but way too repetitive
This game was designed beautifully but I think the designers were too caught up in the beauty and forgot that this was supposed to be a “game” at the end of the day. Everything is repetitive, from the way you have to move the hills to make the Old Man find his way, to the annoying goats that try to get in his way. I can see from the Old Man’s pauses that he has a loved one to visit for sad reasons but I can’t stick through this to find out the whole story. This was $7.00 I should have saved for a game that kept me interested.
Very pretty. Not much happens
This is pitched as a puzzle game. It’s not. It’s a platform game...and that’s it. No puzzles, just pretty landscapes. And for £4.99 you don’t get many of them. Try any of the Rusty Lake series instead. Far more challenging and the majority of them are free #justsaying
A touching story with beautiful illustrations
Was truly a pleasing game to relax with.
Hangs at start and game never starts
Just bought this and it hangs. Noticed a comment that said this had been fixed 12 months ago. Not for my iPad it hasn’t.
Gorgeous but shallow gameplay
I loved the art, the atmosphere, and the pacing of this story. The game mechanic was new, innovative, and fun but unfortunately the game leans on it too heavily, by mid-game I found it repetitive and boring. It also discourages exploration of the environment. There are cute little Easter eggs throughout the game but clicking anywhere navigable immediately sends your character there, sometimes with no way to back track. That made looking for interactive elements frustrating and no fun. With a little refining this could be an excellent game. As-is it’s on the low end of good. More like 3.5 stars.
Very beautiful, very dull
I was really looking forward to this game, which is way I paid money for it - which, as a tightwad, I seldom do with apps - but I just couldn’t finish it. I just feel like I’m missing something. The game is beautiful, stylish elegant, like a Kardashian sister, but like a Kardashian sister, it has no real wit and very little to say. It gets boring quite fast. It truly is beautiful. The landscapes and character design are stunning, but the NPCs are not really there for any reason. You can’t interact with them and they don’t contribute to the story. Every now and then, the figure will drift off into a memory of his wife; a still image which, again is stunning, but in no way interactive. I don’t know why the game failed to move me, but it did. I don’t know anything about the guy I’m playing or what happened to his family. Don’t know where he’s off to. It all adds up to a rather hollow experience. . But it really is beautiful. It would make a fine picture book.
Pleasant flow
Great artistry and musical score. The game is a low-key soothing play. I found it to be a nice change from the other puzzle games that are impossible to play without the ‘hint’ feature which renders those games impossible to play without it. This game has a logical progression and after you play a couple of scenes, one gets the idea.
Waste of money
Game was probably made by a five year old it’s literally the most boring game I’ve ever played
Beautiful game
Beautiful game
Ein Spiel, welches zum....
An old mans journey
Hi When I was playing the game, it was so beautiful and so fun. But when I was on the level where the old man got off the boat and the weather was turning bad, I got to the bench to progress to the next level. That’s when my game froze. It’s happened at least 2 times now. Please fix it because I want to continue the game and see the ending.
I JUST WANNA SAY HUHH
The people who made this game did a really good job. This game looks amazing and I love how you play through it, they definitely TOOK SOME TIME on this game. What I’m saying is good looks appreciate this. (Great relaxing game)
Rubbish
They say it is a soul searching adventure.I had to search my soul to find out why I purchased this rubbish. There is no game play.It is boring from start to finish.I don’t recommend it.
Aww…
There’s not enough levels!
Beautiful but dissappointing
I enjoyed this game, it looked good was gentle and calming.....however, it was far too short. I was just getting into it when it abruptly ended. I expect more for £4.99 and wish I could get my money back. Not worth the price.
Needs a free trial!
Visuals are a 11/10. Gameplay is chill — more of a short story than a game actually. Story was somewhat predictable but still heartfelt. Can’t say it was worth the full $7 though. I wish it had a free trial — maybe level 1?
Beautiful game
I found this game to be calmly amusing. I’ve played the first few levels and they aren’t too hard. Quite simple really. I expect the difficulty will increase as the game progresses. What really made me give this game 5 stars is the story line and animation. I appreciate the slow pace of the game as well. This game does require a certain adult mind set to appreciate. I would not get this game for children. Not that I’ve found any content objectionable, it’s just they won’t be able to keep interested.
Dull
Incredibly dull, looks great but so boring and repetitive
Touching story
It’s visually stunning and has atmospheric music. The scenes you interact with are attractive and varied. The zooming in and panning out are like films. The colours are warming. As the name suggests you guide an older man through different landscapes that remind him of his life in chronological order. It was a interesting idea to interact with the landscape to move through the scenes however I would have liked more of a challenge but maybe the point is to just enjoy playing it. It’s one to take your time on and savour.
Not worth the price
While I can appreciate the artistic side of it, the gameplay itself is repetitive and boring. There are quite a few much better puzzle adventure games out there for half the price.
okay !? 🤔
Clever creative mechanics great story telling
I highly recommend it
Won’t open
iPhone 8 Plus. Game grasses every time it opens
An atmospheric gem
Charming music and visuals make for an atmospheric and reflective experience. It’s more of a puzzler mixed with the memories and the story of a travelling old man. The premise of the game where land is moved to allow the man to travel can become repetitive at times and can seem limiting, however the execution is such that you feel more part of the journey rather than part of a game. Some more involving and differing gameplay would perfect an otherwise heartwarming and enjoyable experience.
It’s alright
The game looks amazing but it’s pretty repetitive and easy. The story was okay at best but it was a smooth play through no bugs. I finished in about 2 hours don’t know if it was worth the three dollars
Overpriced and short
3 stars for a beautiful visual and storyline. But it’s way too overpriced for a less than 3 hr game.
