Very cool
I just love the idea of this app. And so far the app is great. I have not actually started to draw with it yet but it’s pretty straightforward and seems to function just as it should. Very excited
Used to be good
This app used to be good until they went to subscription. I now can’t even use the grid drawing option as it will crash the app. Before the AI was introduced this was my favorite and go to app to use. Now I’ll be on the hunt for another one. I’m very disappointed.
Grreaaat!
Love it. It would be even better if the grids could be numbered.
Crashes when I try to upload an image
Crashes when I try to upload an image My Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max (latest iOS) Note: I regularly update my review/rating for this application
Amazing App!
For such an obvious way to learn something you’d think there would be a slew of apps similar to this for PCs, phone’s, etc., but I’ve only found this one. I’ve never been able to draw my way out of a wet paper sack. It’s like my perception of space is skewed when trying to reproduce an image via hand, onto paper. With this app, it’s easy for me to transfer an image I’ve taken a photo of or downloaded, and transfer it to paper! I do use a program that takes photographs and turns them into a sketch which helps considerably, and I also threw together a couple of thick walled paper tubes that one fits into the other and it has clamps on both ends. One end is clamped to my phone, the opposing end is clamped to my clipboard, spiral, etc., and this keeps me at the same area/distance so things don’t get outta whack. This keeps everything in the same perspective and allows me to work much faster and more efficiently. I was literally crippled when it came to sketching until I found this app and I’ve noticed the more I use the app, the better I do without it because it’s teaching my brain to be more proficient at spatialization. I highly recommend this app for the artistically challenged. It’s given me the ability to do something that I’ve always envied. I’m definitely not a DaVinci but at least people recognize when I draw a portrait it’s of the person I was drawing, and don’t say, “awww that’s an interesting sketch of a brick... What inspired you?”.
Used to be great
Used be super useful, now I can’t get it to work. Everytime I try to load a picture it crashes. Time to look for a replacement app.
Helpful app
I struggle with drawing to scale on my canvases, and this app really helps!
Interesting but Interface is not easily understanable.
Need a better user manual.
Mostly Amazing!
This app is extremely useful to me. The things I wish would be fixed are (1) frequent crashing and (2) sound interference. For some reason, if you are listening to music or a podcast and then open this app, the volume automatically turns down. Once you close this app, the volume returns to the level it was.
Worth it
Great app but hard to understand exactly how to use it. After you have the “stencil” on the screen, put phone on a cup, look at screen and “trace” the drawing on a sheet of paper. I sketch houses and this helps big time with proportions. I mark the key points and then freehand from there.
Demands payment now?!
I have had this app for YEARS and it has worked just fine. However today it suddenly started to demand payment, saying I only have 3 days of free usage even though I HAVE HAD THIS APP FOR YEARS! Why is the app I have used for years suddenly demanding I pay for it?!
How to use
This app desperately need instructions. But for those getting frustrated, you have to literally draw on pen and paper. You take a picture, and the app turns this image into a stencil that You can hopefully use as a guide for when the camera view shows up, use the screen as a ‘live view’ to draw with on paper. The camera has to be held extremely still somehow or your results will be off. Maybe if you rig it up to be perfectly stationary somehow. Not very easy to do.That’s the main issue here. Maybe clear acrylic on some stacked books.
A concern
Cant find any way to access assistance mode. :(
Intriguing but needs work
LOVE the concept but this app definitely needs work/adjustments. It’s a little difficult to navigate, the stencils are extremely limited, and the tracing mode needs to be refined. I would LOVE to see this intriguing app tweaked and improved!
Great App
Found it by accident. All accidents should be this cool. Thanks
Usual bait n switch
WAS Listed as free, called MyVichy, then immediately switched name and to paid subscription. Could be better if there was a button added that snaps the devs leg in an alley full of hungry pit bulls, maybe. And they have to adopt and feed all the dogs and go bankrupt.
Does it
This app Does what I want, which was to place a grid over a photo, which serves as a drawing guide on the canvas.
Great idea, bad execution
It won't allow me to draw on either mode. I don't know if this is a bug or if the feature is hard to find, but the 'how to use' section doesn't explain at all.
Simple and easy to use.
User friendly and to the point. Very happy with the app. I wish I could review the picture before I save it with the grid lines. Maybe I just haven't found that feature yet. Does freeze up and crash sometimes but still very useable.
Increases the joy of sketching.
I would truly recommend this apt to a casual sketched or even a professional. Good job.
Didn’t work
I downloaded the app after purchasing and it didn’t work at all
Difficult to use
This app has a slick design, but when it comes down to brass tacks, it's terribly impractical. Holding the phone with one hand while drawing with the other is awkward and an unnatural way to position one's self when drawing.
Great!!
This app really helped me to draw!!
Not so much
.pretty disappointed not easy to use
No clue...
What this app is supposed to be for. Promptly deleted it. Professional artists might understand it.
Super fun tool!
Works Great- love the App and how easy it works.
I do not like this app
Absolutely terrible I spent two dollars on this and I thought it was actually going to be a drawing app but apparently that’s all terrible I don’t even understand this you take a photo and you draw something I thought you would actually be able to draw on your phone not to actually draw on a piece of paper aargh this is so annoying and disappointing that’s why people you got a check what it is first I do not like this this is a terrible idea just don’t waste your money people
Width
It's a cool little app but when you're own a time crunch with a deadline and your printer is messing up (just a lil) it makes it hard to be in the best of moods so I don't know if it's my attitude that's not allowing me to figure it out or if it just isn't there. The one fault is that it asks you for the width of the canvas etc but not the height so when you line everything up and your doing ok you suddenly realise 'huh, wait a second' the height of the cells in the grid are all wrong and I can't shrink the picture or something like that to get it to the right height because 'oh dear' there wouldn't be any picture left. So ... hmmm stuck between fiddling around some more and possibly wasting time or having to do things the old fashioned way. 😓 I will admit if it weren't for that I would think it's an extremely handy app. It would be nice to know whether this is entirely in my head or it just doesn't have that feature ? Plus checked the how to use Myvinchy on the app and there is nothing actually helpful there for this particular dilemma.
Fast layout
A really helpful App when proportion and composition matters. It also helps to lay out your preliminary drawing fast and accurately. You can still draw from observation but to use the camera and grid helps get you going faster. Highly recommended not just for beginners but for those who need to layout fast and easy.
Fail
Why is it so hard to get these drawing grid apps right? We just need a square grid over our photos that will work in both portrait and landscape positions. Once we have a photo set up with a grid over it, we'd like to be able to save it that way. Personally, I don’t want to draw on the screen. I just want to draw from my reference photo that is on my iPad. This app won’t work in landscape mode and it’s tiny on my iPad screen. I’m sorry I paid for it.
Best App for drawing & Painting I found
As a designer and Illustrator, this app really is an essential part of my daily workflow to plan and structure an illustration. The Drawing Grid Mode is extremely useful, has tons of functionalities and saves me a lot of time, everyday. Also, the intelligent "Tracing Mode" is really innovative, makes it really easy to create a detailed illustration within minutes and is one of the highlights of this app, a feature that I definitely haven't found anywhere else. The app is amazing - glad to have found this app in the appstore!
Looks great but
Impossible to navigate because there's no menu! I purchased for help with a perspective drawing but literally have no access to other drawing options besides the grid. I'm able to apply a grid to an existing photo only. If I opt to take a photo, the app opens my camera but there's no button to take the photo. Refund please!
Love It!!!!
I really enjoyed this app! I finished a drawing I was working on for a while easily! Thanks!!!!!
Could not get it t work
I have used many (probably hundreds) of photo, sketching, and special effects apps of all types. I lost my patience with trying to figure out how to use this app. No help menu is available. The intro says what it can do, but other than showing that two fingers are needed to resize the photo (which is standard and pretty obvious to most people), the app is remarkably void of instructions. Even when I was able to load a photo from the camera roll to try and sketch, the camera remained active in the background; that makes no sense. The "AM" feature would not work because is said that low power mode was on, but it is not. What a disappointment.
