Great app
Longer term users, read the FAQ there’s an iOS bug that just needs a log out, log back in to remedy.
This app Is useless
I definitely hear and see frogs but it never says it can hear a frog!
Include Asia Frog
Hi, I am really love reptile and I from Cambodia, I hope you know Mr. Neang Thy ( Cambodian herpetology ) here I would like you include Frog from Asia or Cambodia as well. That’s could be helpful. Hope this comment you thought to you. Thanks
No photo search??
🤷🏼
Not great for northern area
It’s a nice and easy app to use. Clear calls and accurate identification. They are unfortunately missing most of the species where I’m from, which are the ones I’m interested in learning to identify. Overall good, I’d recommend downloading and giving it a shot.
Very helpful
I love this app. I’ve used it as I’ve been traveling around and love hearing new frogs and adding them to my “gotcha” list.
Doesn’t work except in Australia
This should not be top of my search list in US (and recommended to me by the internet!) when it doesn’t work here. It needs to be clearly stated that it doesn’t work outside its area.
Fun with kids
It would be great to see our status on the app ie. Tadpole etc
I was enthusiastic about this…
I wanted to contribute as I live in the tropics with large numbers of frogs, but hearing no feedback is very discouraging, so I deleted the app. I think there is too much focus on competition and rare finds, rather than encouraging the rest of us. Would probably be better off with AI in the future, rather than snobby ‘experts’.
Long wait for confirmation once submitted
I really love the app and have been using since 2018. However, the time between submitting a call and having it reviewed and confirmed can be several months. Even for species that are threatened or rare.
Frog resources and citizen science
This app lets you record frog calls and gives you a selection to listen to and hopefully identify for yourself. You get to upload your recordings and an expert will identify the frog calls. It’s a fun app to use and you get to know your frog calls and their names. It’s a great activity for young and old.
FrogID is limited in its ability to classify different frogs.
Not only that, but they exploit frog experts to detect what type of frogs are nearby, paying them nothing and feeding them tadpoles
Great app, however
I believe a large issue in this app lies in that most of it’s users reside in populated areas leading in an issue in the distribution of the information across the map. I suggest you speak to your frog experts about this issue
Missing frogs
We have a suburban yard with small ponds in Sydney, with Peron’s tree frogs and striped marsh frogs whose calls we recognize. I recorded a minutes worth on FrodID - they were quite active, and the calls were detected as the little circle in the middle of the window, around the red square indicating the recording proceeded, showing volume by the length of radial white lines. After the minute was up, I selected “next” and entered yard/ pond selections. Then … nothing. Tiny message at the bottom of the screen said something about “null frogs”, no “try again” or other suggestions. Just nothing. Very disappointing- these are not exactly rare frogs.
Good but no expert or community verification
Because there is no feedback to verify a species, you could record a bird or really whatever, and still have no idea if a similar sound is a correct pick from all the species brought up. Really disappointing
woo
great marketing by the GYAT exam
App is constantly updating.
I installed the app and the wheel of death has been spinning with a notification that database is updating for a week now.
Great overall but needs an update
Overall a good app and very helpful when trying to ID, although it’s in need of an update. Have tried uploading photos but nothing shows and photos don’t get included when I make a submission. Otherwise, it’s easy to make a recording and the matching results have been accurate (for me) so far.
Recordings
I would love to record frogs I see, but it is impossible to record a sighting with a recording. There is also no way to know if my recording has gone anyway. Currently it says pending but there is no way to push it or know if it needs pushing. I feel the app is very primitive and needs a lot more work.
May need a server upgrade to handle the traffic
I think this is a great project, and I look forward to participating. Looks like we might actually get some rain next week so there should be a lot of activity around the place. In preparation for the survey, I have updated the app (easy and quick) and tried to renew my password and get familiar with the app again. The last 2 steps are very slow and clunky, I even had to abandon the reset of password due to the time it was taking. I suspect this might be to do with server traffic and it would be great if this could be fixed before the survey starts or it is going to be very frustrating uploading frog calls. Keep up the great work. It would be great to see a stats page that showed changes in frog population numbers and distribution Over time. Cheers.
endangered species?
this app may be biased due to the fact that endangered species are harder to come by
Updating database hangs … again
Uploaded onto latest iOS , all good until asks if you will allow location, ok yes once , then hangs and hangs and ended up twice removing app and same few months back. Would developers please fix this? Very frustrating as have frogs to Id :-)
Great app but some improvements
I really enjoy using this app and it has made me more aware of frogs in my area. The only problem for me is that there isn’t an option to submit a photo without an audio. I often find that when you hear a frog calling, you don’t see it, but when you see a frog, you don’t hear it calling. I’m not sure if this is already a thing and I don’t know how to, but if it’s not it would be really helpful if you could just send in a photo without the audio.
Not working
This app won’t work for me. Continually updating data base. I’ve tried deleting it and starting again but same thing. Was really looking forward to using it
Great to learn frog calls and distribution
App currently closing itself when trying to open it Otherwise love the app, and it’s connection to citizen science.
Protecting the environment
I, Ernest C. Mint use this app daily. It helps us protect our environment from those who seek to destroy it, like the BSC committee!
Frog id
Absolutely useless - downloaded the app and it did nothing ! Waste of an app .
Great start but a couple bugs
I record 60s audio and it lists some frogs. One species is found only in WA and I’m recording in NSW. As I scroll down the list, app crashes/quit - did this twice then I gave up using it. The email to verify my email address contained a link which my phone browser said could not be reached. Now just exploring the frogs - great interface... I originally submitted this to request to filter based on location - but have now found you do have a filter. Not sure why I missed it at first. UX feedback for you.
Not flash
Looking at the reviews for tha last few years it appears nothing has changed to improve this app. Pity, I recorded the frogs that have recently migrated to my rear yard but alas of the 14 suggestions none were a match, won’t let me submit the recording, shame…
Mmmmh
Works most of time, but app keeps logging off on phone (requiring me to remember complex password) at times I wish to submit recordings. And freezes (no where to go if locks up). But great concept, and remarkable when it all works.
WHOS HERE FROM THE GAT 😂💀
lmfao for y’all confused there’s a state wide test we have to do and there was question abt FROGID
Keeps sitting on downloading database. For 24 hrs.
I have downloaded app twice and it comes onto the downloading database screen and just sits there. The last time I tried it was just doing that for 24 hrs. I downloaded to a fully updated iPhone 12. So it is not an incompatible device. I was really looking forward to using it. I am very disappointed as the app showed a lot of promise.
Needed to enter password and photo would not upload today
Normally I don’t need to enter a password but today I had to and it would not accept the password I had so had to change it. Then for my 2nd recording the photo I took with the app just disappeared and the photo I took with my mobile would not download
Uploading audio
We are keen to use this app but is it possible to be able to upload audio from a video or audio clip rather than using your audio recorder? I think it’s much easier to record audio in a video then submit than using your app. Thank you!
Great app but
If I want to go to add photo or take photo it just takes me out of the app and onto my screen saver.
GATTTT
Here from the GAT exams
Crashed on opening
Hey, this app crashed as soon as I started doing something, plus the photos are too small. I’ve got a brown frog that lives in dirt in my suburban yard, but there’s no way I could identify it from this app. Ridiculous. Get a better developer. Wasted opportunity.
Needs more states
Great app but I do not live in Australia. There should be Minnesota too.
Frog ID app - ‘submit’ is frozen - no go?
‘Submit’ icon is not working - in freeze mode...?
Looks neat but crashes all the time
Seems to be a really neat idea. Love the call recordings. However it crashes frequently, now at the point where I can’t use it for more than a few seconds at a time. Never finished downloading offline content, maybe that’s related. Hope they can fix it cause I like the idea.
Very good app
It helped me find the frogs in my area and I was able to find how many frogs were in my area. It was a bit biased as most of the data was collected in populated areas.
Updating Database
I downloaded The frog ID app and it is stuck updating database on the main screen.
Great app
Can you please make a version for the us as I unfortunately I don’t live in Australia.
Great app
would be even better with a short list function and call playlist function
Buggy
Crashes constantly. Absolutely unusable.
